  • Patent number: 6899227
Abstract: A box for shipping bottles has a rectangular floor, generally parallel sides projecting from longitudinal edges of the floor, parallel ends projecting from end edges of the floor and bridging the sides, and a cover fittable over the sides and ends and forming therewith and with the floor a generally closed space. Holders set in a row are each hinged on the floor in the space and are each shiftable transversely toward and away from each of the sides to define bottle-holding spaces with the ends. The holders are of generally identical section but of different longitudinal length. Each holder has a pair of parallel legs having lower edges hinged on the floor and upper edges and a top panel bridging the respective upper edges and hinged thereon. One leg of each pair of legs is substantially shorter than the other leg to impart to the holders a right-trapezoidal shape.

  • Patent number: 6898868
Abstract: A hood-shaped foil covering an object is heat-shrunk around the object by displacing the object covered by the foil along a generally straight path in a transport direction past a stationary heater which is directed at an acute angle to the direction. The position of the object relative to the heater as it passes the heater in the direction is detected and heat is projected from the heater at the acute angle to the direction at the object as it passes at a rate varied in accordance with the detected position of the object relative to the heater.

  • Patent number: 6896138
Abstract: A blister pack has a main sheet unitarily formed with an array of pockets each dimensioned to receive a respective object and a frangible foil overlying a front face of the sheet and closing the pockets so that objects in the pockets are hermetically sealed therein by the foil. A pair of guides unitarily formed with the main sheet flank the array of pockets. A protective panel having an array of holes substantially identical to the array of pockets overlies the foil and is displaceable in the guides between a rest position with the holes at least partially offset from the pockets and the panel blocking the pockets and a dispensing position with the holes aligned with the pockets. A spring web unitarily formed with the sheet and with the panel urges the panel into the rest position.

  • Patent number: 6896036
Abstract: To prevent movement of a ceramic core in a ceramic shell for the investment casting of a turbine blade, the free end of the core has one or more pins embedded therein so that the pins project into both the core and the ceramic shell which is applied over a wax layer. After removal of the wax and firing of the shell, molten metal is cast in the space left by the wax between the core and the shell. After hardening of the metal, the outwardly projecting part of the pins are removed during the machining of the surfaces of the turbine blade blank.

  • Patent number: 6893143
Abstract: The invention relates to a lamp, in particular, a lounge, table, or pocket lamp with a lamp head (13), comprising a light source (16), arranged in a hollow reflector (17), which extends with the plug-in, or terminal contacts thereof, through an opening in the rear of the hollow reflector. According to the invention, the light source is a light diode (16). The opening in the hollow reflector (17), lies very close to the outline of the cover of said light diode, such that the light diode is centralised and longitudinally fixed in position, relative to said hollow reflector. The hollow reflector has a reflector piece, surrounding the light emitting chip of the light diode; which is at least essentially conical in shape.

  • Patent number: 6893050
Abstract: The invention relates to a plug-in vacuum cleaner hose arrangement (10), comprising a socket (15), formed from a collar piece (12), in which a hose push-fit end (13) is detachably held, by axially plugging in to a clip-lock. An operating slide (17), comprising a retaining surface (26) runs axially on the collar piece (12) and may be axially displaced in both opposing axial directions (e, a) about a neutral axial position for the retaining surface (26) thereof, against a spring force (by 18). In said neutral axial position the retaining surface (26) locks the clip body (S) and releases the same when displaced from the neutral position thereof by any movement. The connection is produced by a first directing surface (41) on the front end of the hose push-fit end (13) and opening the connection is performed by a second directing surface (43) formed by the locking recess (T) of the hose push-fit end (14). Said arrangement (10) permits a convenient operation, both on attaching and detaching the connection.

  • Patent number: 6889874
Abstract: A dosing device for bulk goods comprises a mounting frame (2) in which a trough (4) with a dosing screw (28) is arranged, a drive motor (30) and at least one first vibrating paddle (48). The trough (4) comprises two opposing sidewalls (14, 16), of which at least one flexible sidewall (14) is flexible and the vibrating paddle (48) is arranged on said flexible sidewall (14). The upper edges of said sidewalls (14, 16) are not parallel to each other. A significant improvement in mass flow may be achieved, with a particularly effective prevention of cavity formation, whereby any bulk goods bridges which are formed are rapidly and effectively broken. Even bulk goods which have a clearly poor flow characteristic and tend to clump or stick to the trough sidewalls can be dosed without problems.

  • Patent number: 6889986
Abstract: A drill chuck has a chuck body formed with a plurality of forwardly open angled guide passages and with a radially open groove having an axially rearwardly directed front face and an axially forwardly directed rear face. Respective jaws displaceable in the passages each have a row of radially outwardly directed teeth exposed at the groove. A tightening ring engaged in the groove and having an internal screwthread meshing with the teeth of the jaws is formed with a front face axially confronting the front groove face and can rotate on the body about the axis. An angled front spring washer engaged between the front faces is elastically deformable on axial forward displacement of the tightening ring to permit limited relative axial movement of the ring and body.

  • Patent number: 6890199
Abstract: A socket for a bipin lamp has a relatively stationary body, a pair of contacts in the body symmetrically flanking an axis of the body, and a rotor formed with an axially open and generally diametrally extending slot and pivotal on the body about the axis between an outwardly open position and a crosswise position. Pins of the lamp are insertable into the slot and engageable with the contacts in the crosswise position. An operating part has a disk fixed to the rotor and formed with a slot aligned axially with the rotor slot and an arm fixed on and projecting radially from the disk past the lamp when the pins are in the slots. Thus a user can fit the lamp pins to the slots and pivot the rotor between the positions by the arm to engage the pins with the contacts.

  • Patent number: 6884374
Abstract: A plastic hollow preform is drawn through a mold passage formed in a closed mold by applying a generally constant suction to a downstream end of a conduit having an upstream end connected to an output end of the mold passage. A flow cross section of the conduit is varied between its upstream and downstream ends so as to vary a rate at which the preform is drawn through the passage by the suction. The flow cross section is varied by displacing a valve element in the conduit between positions in which it differently blocks flow through the conduit.
