Abstract: Apparatus (10) for massaging gums has a handle portion (12, 12') arranged for manipulating the apparatus (10) in order to impart an undulating motion to a substantially rigid massaging portion (14) arranged for insertion between adjacent teeth of a user of the apparatus. A coupling (16) connected to the handle portion (12, 12') and the massaging portion (16) articulate same to one another and permits the aforementioned undulating motion which causes a vibrating effect against the gum. The coupling preferably is in the form of a universal joint (42) in order to enhance the aforementioned undulating motion.

Abstract: A device for securing an electric storage battery against theft and holding it in the battery support tray provided in an automotive vehicle. The device includes special stanchions which extend upwardly from the battery support tray to support a rigid plate in overlaying relationship with respect to the top of the battery. The plate is attached to the stanchions with special anti-theft fastener assemblies which require the use of a special removal tool, and a battery hold-down pad is interposed between the plate and the battery to hold it in place.

Abstract: An opener tool for aiding a user in opening a can of the type having a self contained stay-on-tab opening system. The opening tool is configured to slide onto the lever end of the can's tab structure to hold it during pivotable movement of the tab structure and to be in bearing engagement with the head of the rivet which attaches the tab structure to the can to utilize the rivet as a fulcrum for the opener tool.

Abstract: An apparatus for cooling a high-density integrated circuit package including a base in which the circuit package is mounted and a heat exchanger which mounts on the base to enclose the circuit package and carry away the heat generated by operation thereof by means of a fluid coolant which is passed through the heat exchanger. The heat exchanger includes a housing having a coolant chamber one surface of which is formed of a pliable thinwall diaphragm of thermally conductive material. The coolant chamber is filled with a plurality of thermally conductive spheriods which are biased into thermally conductive contact with each other and with the diaphragm by a resilient elastomeric pressure pad which is mounted in the coolant chamber. The biasing force exerted by the spheroids on the diaphragm biases it into thermally conductive contact with the circuit package so that heat is conducted away from the circuit package by the diaphragm and the spheroids.

Abstract: A tire tool for inserting a valve stem in a wheel and holding the valve stem in place during the tire inflation operations. The tool includes a body which is threaded onto the valve stem and has an air passage through which air is passed during tire inflation operations. A handle is pivotably attached to the body for movement into engagement with the rim of the wheel to apply leverage on the body for valve stem insertion and holding purposes. The tool further includes a releasable locking device which holds the body in alignment with the handle to facilitate threaded attachment of the body to the valve stem.

Abstract: An improved boot structure for protecting the extensible member and the adjacent end of a telescopically reciprocal mechanism from contamination. The boot structure includes an elongated convoluted body formed of elastomeric material with an integral band on one end thereof in which a special split-ring device is contained. The split-ring device is provided with air passages which allow the boot to breathe as it expands and contracts in response to similar movements of the telescopically reciprocal mechanism, and is configured to demountably attach the one end of the boot structure to the housing of the telescopically reciprocal mechanism.

Abstract: Battery cable clamps (10, 110, 210, 310, 410) constructed from an electrically non-conductive, dielectric, material so as to prevent corrosion, and associated therewith a clip (44) constructed from an electrically conductive material so as to permit easy connection of external electrical equipment, jumper cables, and the like, to a battery post associated with the connector.

Abstract: A marker for marking the position of a golf ball that is to be lifted from the surface of a putting green. The marker includes a thin gage planar body which defines an opening of at least semi-circular configuration which opens onto one edge of the planar body, and which is sized so that the marker can be dropped vertically over the golf ball onto the surface of the putting green.

Abstract: A cigarette extinguishing device including a housing having an axial bore formed therethrough for removably receiving a cigarette to be extinguished with the bore being especially configured to rapidly extinguish the cigarette without crushing or otherwise breaking up the burning cigarette tip and with minimal ash dislodgement.

Abstract: A swimming pool water circulation system having a two-state valve which is alternately operated for predetermined lengths of time in a first state wherein water flow through the system is at a relatively low pressure high volume flow rate for efficient water filtration and in a second state wherein the water flows through the system to a pool cleaning device or system at a relatively high pressure low volume flow rate for efficient operation of the pool cleaning system or device.

Abstract: A container structure including a container body having an endless rim which defines an open top and having a lid which is demountably attached to the container body by at least a pair of relatively small spaced apart latching lugs. The latching lugs extend inwardly from a depending lip provided on the lid and releasably grip the rim of the container body in a manner which provides and maintains a laterally spaced relationship between the rim of the container body and the inner surface of the depending lip of the lid to facilitate removal and reinstallation of the lid by minimizing frictional engagement between the lid and the container body.

Abstract: A multi-purpose heavy duty centrifugal mill including a vertically disposed housing to which various frangible materials are fed tangentially to a pre-grinder located in the bore of the housing with the pre-grinder adapted to grind the materials to a predetermined size and direct them to comminution devices for further gradation sizing. The housing is open at the top to freely admit air for aeration of putricidable materials and through which a liquid carrier medium may be introduced.

Abstract: A liquid elevating mechanism for use with pumps of the type which produce cyclic pressure waves for transmission through a liquid column to the liquid elevating mechanism for operation thereof. The liquid elevating mechanism is especially configured to utilize the head pressure forces exerted thereon by the liquid column for head pressure counterbalancing purposes.

Abstract: A self-tapping duct fitting (10) in the form of a hollow sleeve having an interrupted cutting edge (20) at a one end (14) so that a hole (68) can be cut in a wall (66) of the duct by a rotative motion of the fitting. Preferably, the interrupted cutting edge (20) includes a plurality of teeth (22) which can form tabs bendable against the inner surface (72) of the duct wall (66) once a hole (68) has been cut in order to retain fitting (10) in place.

Abstract: A closet flange assembly for anchoring a water closet to a floor and sealingly connecting the water closet to a waste drain conduit. The closet flange assembly includes a drain body having a flange for attachment to the floor and to the water closet and having a compression gasket circumferentially compressingly contained and held against axial movement within the axial bore provided in the drain body. The compression gasket has an axial bore which provides an interference fit with the periphery of the waste drain conduit when the drain body and compression gasket are axially slidingly pushed onto the waste drain conduit.

Abstract: Receptacle units (16, 18, 18', 20, and 20') for use independently or in any combination in conjunction with a pickup truck (10) having a bed (12) in which the units can be arranged, and a movable cover (14) arranged over the bed. Some of the receptacle units can be provided with drawers slidable rearwardly of the associated truck bed so as to permit easy access to articles stored in the receptacle units, while permitting the units to be secured by action of the associated cover and a cooperating tailgate of the associated truck.

Abstract: A sonic pressure wave surface operated pump is provided with a mechanism for controlled movement of a flexible production tube and pumping assembly into and out of contact with a liquid to be pumped and is provided with a sonic pressure wave generator which produces sonic pressure waves of special character in a column of liquid carried in the pump. The sonic pressure waves are transmitted through the flexible production tube by the column of liquid to the pumping assembly for operation thereof and are reflected by the pumping assembly back through the flexible production tube and carry the liquid being pumped in the same direction.
