  • Patent number: 6381460
Abstract: A method is described in which a signaling message is sent from a first radio station to a second radio station. The message contains information relating to both a frequency channel number and a frequency channel bandwidth, each referring to a common standard bandwidth. The signaling message is received by the second radio station, and the signaled frequency channel is used for transmission and reception purposes. The data relating to the frequency channel number and the bandwidth indicate which frequency channel has to be used. In addition the signal includes information about using radio communication systems with a plurality of non-interconnected frequency bands and with bandwidths intended for various applications.

  • Patent number: 6378295
Abstract: A method for controlling exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine includes controlling operation of the engine to fluctuate a lambda value of a raw exhaust gas at the lambda probe, exhibiting two-step action and disposed upstream of a three-way catalytic converter located in an exhaust tract, about a predetermined mean value. In a trimming controller, a concentration of an exhaust gas component downstream of the converter is measured with an amperometric-measuring sensor made from a solid-state electrolyte. In the sensor's first measuring cell, an oxygen concentration is measured through a first Nernst voltage between a first electrode and a reference electrode exposed to ambient air, and is controlled by a first oxygen-ion pumping current between the first electrode and an outer electrode of the sensor. In the second measuring cell of the sensor, the oxygen concentration is measured through a second Nernst voltage between the second and reference electrodes.

  • Patent number: 6381461
Abstract: In a GSM mobile radio network having at least one base station controller and a first base station, at least one first frequency channel is made available within a frequency band between the first base station and the mobile stations in order to transmit data and to transmit signaling information. According to the invention, the first base station additionally makes available a second broadband frequency channel with a TD/CDMA transmission method. After a connection has been set up in the first or second frequency channel, a handover of the connection to the respective other frequency channel is carried out by the base station controller without a second base station being selected.

  • Patent number: 6378341
Abstract: Detergent solution is discharged by means of a pump (10) at the bottom of a washing handling space (1) and is fed back to the handling space (1) via a pipeline (9) above the washing (3) located in the handling space. The washing machine is also connected to a fresh-water supply line (5) which can be opened and closed by a valve (7) which is controllable by a sensor device (12) suitable for establishing a volumetric flow present in the pumping direction of the pump (10). It is possible to dispense with a separate sensor element for controlling the fresh-water supply by a body (13) which can be actuated by the volumetric flow prevailing in the pipeline (9) being arranged along the pipeline (9) and, depending on the presence or absence of volumetric flow, protruding into or releasing the measuring section (18) of a turbidity sensor (17). Finally, the valve (7) is controlled by the turbidity sensor (17) so as to assume its opening or closed position.

  • Patent number: 6381260
Abstract: Data is transmitted via a radio interface in a radio communications system in that at least one subscriber signal is transmitted, which has an individual fine structure applied to it and, in addition to data symbols in data sections, contains a midamble with known symbols. The fine structures of the data sections and of the midamble differ. At the transmission end, a sum signal is produced which contains signal sections to which different fine structures are applied. The sum signal is filtered in at least one transmission filter and is transmitted via a transmission channel to a receiving radio station. A control device controls the addition so that different attenuation of the signal sections is compensated for by the filtering. The method is suitable, in particular, for mobile stations having a single or variable data rate, and for base stations for use in 3rd generation TD/CDMA mobile radio networks.

  • Patent number: 6380074
Abstract: A method for the shrink-hole-free filling of trenches in semiconductor circuits which utilizes selective growth of a layer to be applied is described. In the method, a layer of a selective growing material is applied simultaneously to a growth-promoting layer and to a growth-inhibiting layer. Wherein raised portions which, before the layer of selective growing material is applied, are covered by the growth-inhibiting layer at least on their sides. After the growth-inhibiting layer has been applied, the growth-promoting layer is generated by anisotropic treatment on surfaces parallel to the substrate on and between the raised portions and the layer is then removed again on surfaces parallel to the substrate on the raised portions. The method makes it possible to produce in a particularly simple manner a pattern on the raised portions of which are covered by the growth-inhibiting layer on their sides and on their top whereas the bottom of trenches is covered with a growth-promoting layer.

The coefficients of the filter pair of the QAM/CAP receiver are adaptively adjusted in that the nth filter coefficient of a filter in the ith adjustment step is reduced by a correction value by the filter coefficient of the previous adjustment step i−1. The correction value is the product of a distortion elimination error, a delayed input value, and a manipulated variable &ggr;.

  • Patent number: 6376118
Abstract: A fuel cell includes two electrodes of different polarity. A proton-conducting membrane electrolyte is disposed between the two electrodes. At least one of the electrodes has a gas-side surface and an electrolyte-side surface. The electrode has pores which are permeable for a gas from the gas-side surface to the electrolyte-side surface. The pores have respective pore inlet openings and pore outlet openings. The pore inlet openings have a first total area and the pore outlet openings have a second total area smaller than the first total area. As a result of the configuration of the pores, gas can advantageously pass through the electrode more easily. Furthermore, the loss of humidity from the electrolyte is reduced. The fuel cell can be combined with an electromotor to provide an alternative to conventional internal combustion engines, especially in vehicles and rail systems.
