  • Patent number: 4388928
Abstract: The exemplary embodiment comprising a signal reception part and a routing device which routes specific signal information for storage to information memories provided for that purpose. The goal of the disclosure is to create such a signal processing means which, given the lowest possible circuit-technical outlay, always prevents an undesired re-programming of information memories with absolute certainty. This goal is inventively achieved in that a locking register is allocated to a memory bank constructed of a plurality of information memories, in which locking register a locking signal can be inscribed for each information memory which is specifically allocated to this information memory, on the basis of which locking signal a change of the stored informational content is made impossible as long as no opening signal for an appertaining information memory is input into the locking register from the outside.

  • Patent number: 4389626
Abstract: An electromagnetic relay has a coil core body with a hollow interior and a movable contact element disposed in the interior approximately parallel to the longitudinal axis of the core body, the movable contact element having one end fixed in a vertical wall which closes one end of the hollow interior. The free movable end of the movable contact element makes and breaks with two stationary contacts embedded in an encapsulation wall which closes the other end of the hollow interior. The encapsulation wall is comprised of two separate adjacent parts, one part being formed as a part of the one-piece core body and the other part being separately manufactured and being inserted in place to encapsulate the hollow interior. The encapsulation wall has recesses permitting exterior access to the stationary contacts for adjustment purposes. After adjustment, pole plates are inserted into the recesses for ferromagnetically coupling the stationary contacts to a permanent magnet as well as to a ferromagnetic housing cover.

  • Patent number: 4388095
Abstract: Glass preforms useful for producing optical fibers therefrom are produced by forming at least one layer of glass on an inner surface of a hollow glass tube by introducing a reactive gas mixture suitable for glass synthesis (ie., SiCl.sub.4, GeCl.sub.4, etc., and O.sub.2) and a combustible heating gas mixture (ie., CO, C.sub.2 N.sub.2, CS.sub.2, C.sub.4 N.sub.2, COS, C.sub.3 O.sub.2, etc., and O.sub.2) into a hot region within the hollow tube which is generated by exterior heating of such tube. The reactive gas undergoes a chemical reaction at such hot region whereby a material having the composition of glass is deposited on the hot inner surface of the tube as a layer and melts into a clear glass film while the heating gas combusts at the hot region and aids the rate of glass formation on the inner surface of the tube.

  • Patent number: 4388485
Abstract: Longitudinally water-tight cables, such as communication cables, are produced so that the interior of such cables have a filling material containing a water-repellant substance and relatively small diameter gas bubbles embedded in the filling material. The filling material is thickened with a reticulating thixotropic substance having a 3-dimensional network-like structure which is disruptable under mechanical influence and is regenerable over a time span in a motionless state with a significant increase of viscosity. The size of the gas bubbles are adjusted relative to the resistance to disruption of the network-like structure so that the buoyancy of such gas bubbles is significantly below such resistance to disruption in the motionless state of the filling material whereby such gas bubbles are maintained in their respective positions within the filling material in a time-stable manner during a motionless state.

  • Patent number: 4387495
Abstract: Improved method and apparatus for feeding a conductive wire for anodizing process of a slide fastener chain are disclosed in which a wire guide member reciprocates perpendicularly to the feeding movement of the fastener tape so that the distance between the upper end of the guide member and the lastly secured fastener element decreases as the guide member moves from a position spaced from the beaded portion of the tape to a position close to the beaded portion, thereby giving appropriate slack to the wire. The fastener elements are secured to the beaded portion of the tape when the guide member is in the position close to the beaded edge. Therefore, possibility of breaking the wire is minimized.

  • Patent number: 4387958
Abstract: Longitudinally water-tight cables, such as communication cables, are produced so that the interior of such cables contain a filling material which includes a water-repelling substance and relatively small diameter gas bubbles substantially uniformly embedded therein. The filling material contains an admixture of thermoplastic rubbers or rubber-like thermoplastic materials which are molten at the processing temperature utilized in the course of cable filling and which soldify at the normal operating temperature range of a cable by linking, hooking or coupling via thermoplastic blocks having a correspondingly low melting range, that is lying just below the cable filling temperature. The gas bubbles, which are generated during cable filling, are maintained at their respective spatial positions within the filling material by a rubber-like network which forms in the filling material and the linking or joining points in such network can withstand the buoyancy forces of the gas bubbles without rupture.

  • Patent number: 4388072
Abstract: A stacker assembly for a prefolded continous web of paper is provided with an air jet means for directing an air stream onto the upper sheet of the paper stack being piled in the stacker to press down the folded edges in the stack. The direction and intensity of the air stream are controlled by means of a directional control device and an intensity control device. These control devices have variable settings in order to properly accommodate the particular form lengths of the paper being folded and the particular rigidity characteristics and weight of the paper. The two control devices may be connected via a mechanical coupling device so as to permit automatic adjustment in accordance with lateral displacement of form length guide walls positioned on opposed sides of the paper stack, these guide walls being displaced to accommodate prefolded web paper having different form lengths.

  • Patent number: 4387638
Abstract: The invention is directed to a device for removing water from the solvent recovery system of a fast printer. Water recovered in the solvent recovery system from solvent vapor and water vapor is passed into the open air outside of the printer frame without generating damage due to water corrosion within the printer. Recovered water is passed from a discharge pipe to an evaporation chamber containing either a heated evaporator container or to a unheated trough containing upstanding absorbent mats which suck the recovered water up into an open air space above the trough. A stream of dry warm air is generated by blowers within the printer and passes through the evaporation chamber picking up water vapor. The vapor-air mixture produced in the evaporation chamber then passes through slots formed in the printer assembly frame directly into the open air.

  • Patent number: 4386728
Abstract: A method of hermetically sealing by NVFE (non-vacuum focused energy) welding abutment joints formed by elongate surfaces. At substantially spaced intervals narrow shallow vent grooves are formed across one of the surfaces, while leaving between the vent grooves separating lengths of many times the length of the groove width. The grooves enable the NVFE welding to be effected continuously in unidirectional pass along the joint, the gases venting from the joint through the successive vent grooves as the welding progresses continuously along the joint. Continuously after the venting of the gases at each of the successive vent grooves, each vent groove is sealed by the NVFE welding without interrupting the welding progression.
