Abstract: A system for recognizing and locating in an image, printed data of a known spatial characteristic. A digital matched filter is used to identify the presence of the printed data via an auto correlation between the filter coefficients and the printed data. When an auto correlation is identified, approximate areas are selected and further processing is undertaken only within such areas.

Abstract: Cross-connect method for STM-1 signals of a synchronous digital multiplex hierarchy. Data blocks having differing multiplex structure of the synchronous digital multiplex hierarchy are processed in common in a cross-connect equipment. Controlled via a bus by a microprocessor, Au-4 administration units of STM-1 signals are resolved into virtual container groups of approximately the same length such as TUG-31 and TU-31. After the removal of auxiliary signals that are no longer required, an individual switching matrix network clock matching pointer and an individual switching matrix network overhead are respectively attached to these virtual container groups for the formation of uniform switching matrix network input signals (D39, D52). After a rearrangement in a switching matrix network, switching matrix network clock matching pointers and overheads are again taken from the switching matrix network output signals and are evaluated.
Abstract: A network architecture for the programmable emulation of large artificial neural networks ANN having digital operation employs a plurality L of neuron units of identical structure, each equipped with m neurons, the inputs (E) thereof being connected to network inputs (E.sub.N) multiplied or branching via individual input registers (REG.sub.E). The outputs (A) of the neuron units are connectable to network outputs (A.sub.N) at different points in time via individual multiplexers (MUX) and individual output registers (REG.sub.A) and the neuron units have individual auxiliary inputs via which signals can be supplied to them that represent weighting values (W) for weighting the appertaining neural connections and represent thresholds (0) for weighting input signals.

Abstract: A semiconductor device manufacturing process and a bias ECRCVD apparatus for the process. The semiconductor device manufacturing process comprises the steps of forming trenches in the surface of a substrate, forming an insulating film by bias ECRCVD over the surface of the substrate, etching the insulating film by lateral leveling etching so as to expand the width of grooves formed in portions of the insulating film which are formed in regions other than those corresponding to the trenches, masking the portions of the insulating film which fill the trenches and removing the portions of the insulating film formed in the regions other than those corresponding to the trenches.
Abstract: An arrangement for attaching a window board to a transom which comprises a transom having at least one groove formed in the inner end face thereof so as to open towards the indoor side; a horizontally extending cover attachment to which the window board is attached, the cover attachment extending in parallel to the transom; and a plurality of connecting members adapted to be engaged within said groove so as to fixedly secure the cover attachment to the inner end face of the transom. Between the inner end face of the transom and the cover attachment, a heat insulation material is interposed.
Abstract: This invention relates to obtaining beta crystalline Phase isotactic polypropylene with high purity and thermal stability simply by melt-crystallization in the presence of a two component beta nucleating agent. The two component beta-nucleating agent is formed by mixing 0.0001-1 weight % of dibasic acid with 0.001-1 weight % oxide, hydroxide or acid salt of a Group IIA metal. Such beta phase polypropylene can be used for the production of high impact strength molding extrusion shapes, microporous film and microporous hollow fiber.
Abstract: A printer is provided which has an openable front panel. This front panel is opened to load printing paper into a paper tray which is invisibly located behind the front panel. The paper tray is provided in a mechanical sub-chassis movably disposed within a mechanical main chassis of the printer. The sub-chassis is laterally slidable relative to the main chassis via a pair of guide rails and is rotatable to open the front panel via a pair of arm plate to expose the paper tray outside of the printer body. The arm plates are attached to a drive shaft supported by the main chassis so as to allow slight relative displacement therebetween to cancel assembly error. According to rotation of the drive shaft, the both arm plates swing synchronously.
Abstract: A shockwave generator for extracorporeal lithotripsy has a housing filled with an acoustic propagation medium, through which shockwaves propagate, and in which an ultrasound applicator is disposed for locating a calculus to be treated. The ultrasound applicator has components which may be damaged if traversed by shockwaves. At least a portion of the ultrasound applicator in which these components are disposed is therefore acoustically shielded with a substance having an acoustic impedance substantially differing from the acoustic impedance of the propagation medium, so that essential parts of the shockwaves are reflected thereby and thus the non-reflected parts do not reach the shielded portion of the ultrasound applicator with sufficient energy to damage the compartments.

Abstract: A retainer assembly for retaining cords, strings or the like in position comprises a cylindrical tube having holes, a resilient locking means mounted in the tube and a pair of end taps and having a through bore. The locking means has arcuately inwardly bent upper and lower wing members defining therebetween slits. The end taps each have an arrow-headed portion adapted to be received through and locked inside of the slit of the locking means and a tapered portion resiliently engageable in the slit and movable between the upper and lower wing members to bring the bore into and out of registry with the holes.
Abstract: Proposed is a method for improving resist selectivity in dry etching of an aluminum-based material layer. A mixed gas containing a chlorine-based gas and hydrogen iodide (HI) is used as an etching gas. The chlorine-based gas furnishes Cl* as a main etchant for the Al-based material layer, while HI furnishes H*. For anisotropic etching of the Al-based material layer, decomposition products of a resist mask are used as a sidewall protection film. It has been known that deposition of the sidewall protection film is promoted when hydrogen atoms are contained in the sidewall protection film. HI is used in the present invention as a supply source for H* because the interatomic bond energy of its H--I bond is low as compared to that of H.sub.2, HCl or HBr so that HI is superior to the H* yielding efficiency under discharge dissociation conditions. In this manner, the bias power necessary for anisotropic etching may be reduced to inhibit sputtering out of the resist mask.
Abstract: A one-piece piston assembly including a hollow frusto-conical piston is secured to a crankshaft ring via a hollow joint or waist member. Preferably the joint or waist member is frusto-conically shaped as well.
Abstract: A method for anisotropic etching of a layer of a silicon-based material, using an SF.sub.6 gas, a versatile etching gas, is proposed. Sulfur (S) is used as a sidewall protection substance. This sulfur is not supplied into an etching reaction system on discharge dissociation of the etching gas, but is supplied by being sublimed off on heating from the inner wall surface of the etching chamber on which it is previously grown from a gaseous phase. Specifically, the S.sub.2 F.sub.2 gas is introduced while a predetermined region of the inner wall surface of the etching chamber is cooled, and preliminary discharge is carried out to deposit sulfur on the region. A SF.sub.6 containing etching gas is introduced into the chamber and the above mentioned region is heated for subliming S and simultaneously etching the layer of the silicon-based material. With this method, there is no necessity of using a specific etching gas capable of yielding free S in the plasma under discharge dissociating conditions.
Abstract: The hash result of useful data is transmitted to a multiply-protected central server in which it is transformed into a signature on the basis of a crypto operations system combination with a private key code of the originator. The signature is deposited in the central server and is available as what is referred to as a "digital signature" for the transmission of the useful data.

Abstract: A method for monitoring a number of electrode surfaces of an electrode of the type used in an HF surgery device includes the steps, in a first stage of the method, of connecting one of the electrode surfaces to a current source and connecting a measuring unit via a first switch to at least two of the remaining electrode surfaces to be monitored and thereby forming measured values which are to be compared to each other for equality. In a second stage of the method, a different electrode surface is connected to the current source and the measuring unit is connected to different ones of the remaining electrode surfaces, and measured values are again obtained and compared for quality. The electrode surface which served as the auxiliary (i.e., current supplied) electrode in the first stage of the method may serve as one of the monitored electrode surfaces in the second stage. A circuit for practicing the method is also disclosed.
Abstract: A human detention appliance or pacifier device or anti-thumb sucking device is made by a method of injection molding whereby a charge of fluoridating material is admixed with a high-temperature solvent, and then tumbled with a base thermoplastic molding material to form a pre-fluoridated mixture stable which is stable within the temperatures necessary to melt the mixture and the high-temperature limit of the high-temperature solvent, and physically embodied in the molding so that when used, the fluoridating material will leach out of the appliance and become mixed with fluids in the mouth at the buccal, labial, lingual and occlusal surfaces of the teeth which come in contact with the appliance.
Abstract: An upper tool of a blank separating station, which is operated within a machine for producing blanks for packages in sheet material is characterized by the upper tool consisting of a rectangular board provided with a pattern of openings. A lower surface of the board bears a large number of punches which are mounted on the board by a self-locking pin arrangement that extends through one of the apertures in the board.
Abstract: A label for attachment to a container, the label comprising a longitudinal strip which is divided into a series of panels by a plurality of transverse fold lines, the strip being folded about the transverse fold lines so that one end panel and the adjacent panel form rear and front cover panels, respectively, which envelope the remaining panel or panels of the folded strip, the rear cover panel of the strip being shorter in the longitudinal direction than at least the front cover panel and a third panel, which is adjacent the front panel, extending beyond the free end of the rear cover panel and having a rearwardly directed over-lapping portion; and a support web to which is adhered the rear face of the rear cover panel, the over-lapping portion being releasably adhered to the support web so as to maintain the folded label in a closed configuration, the arrangement being such that the label can be opened by detaching the over-lapping portion from the support web.
