  • Patent number: 7951645
Abstract: A power module with low thermal resistance buffers the stress put on a substrate during a package molding operation to virtually always prevent a fault in the substrate of the module. The power module includes a substrate, a conductive adhesive layer formed on the substrate, a device layer comprising a support tab, a power device, and a passive device which are formed on the conductive adhesive layer, and a sealing material hermetically sealing the device layer. The support tab is buffers the stress applied by a support pin to the substrate, thereby virtually always preventing a ceramic layer included in the substrate from cracking or breaking. As a result, a reduction in the isolation breakdown voltage of the substrate is virtually always prevented and the failure of the entire power module is do to a reduction in the breakdown voltage of the substrate is virtually always prevented.

  • Patent number: 7946659
Abstract: A thru-axle system installs a wheel on a hub disposed between a pair of dropouts of a frame or fork. An axle (10) extends between dropouts and supports a wheel on a hub (60). The axle has a first end with at least one radially protruding shoulder (12). The second end has a thread (16) for engaing a threaded sleeve (5). A bushing (20) between the radially protruding shoulder (12) and the other dropout has a central bore with first and second inner diameters. Its first inner diameter is large enough to admit the radially protruding shoulder and the second diameter is large enough to admit the axle portion of the axle. The bushing (20) has an external tapered surface (22) facing the other dropout for transmitting an axial force acting on the shoulder to the bushing and from the bushing to the first dropout.

  • Patent number: 7938646
Abstract: The invention includes a three dimensional periodic table of the chemical elements and a method of learning about the periodic nature of the elements. Included are several cardboard or paper sheets, each having a plurality of blocks that display information about particular elements. The blocks are arranged in groupings of elements with similar properties, such as the transition Earth metals. Students follow a set of instructions provided with the sheets to cut out the groups, fold along particular lines, and affix tabs together to assemble several three dimensional forms. The students then place the forms on a planar map that indicates where to place each form and indicates how to follow the periods of elements between the forms.

  • Patent number: 7941428
Abstract: Disclosed in this specification is a software and browser application for monitoring submissions to a third-party search engine. When the third-party search engine returns a list of results, the list may be compared to a list of rated websites located in a rating database. For each website in the list of rated websites, one or more experts has entered a rating value and text evaluation. The rating value for each of the websites in the list of results is then displayed to the user upon request. Additionally, metadata may also be displayed for each of the websites. In this manner, the list of results that was provided by the third-party search engine has been enhanced so as to permit the user to more easily find reliable, relevant information.

  • Patent number: 7920831
Abstract: Conveying Push-To-Talk and Push-To-Signal (PTT/PTS) information over an IP network through signaling bits defined in and propagated with the Real-Time Protocol (RTP) stream allows the PTT/PTS information to remain synchronized with the voice packets of the stream. The maintenance of synchronization of PTT/PTS signals and voice packets eliminates problems arising from failure of synchronization between the two classes of packets, notably the “shoot/don't shoot” problem. The signaling bits employed were formerly used to convey legacy network information, but are no longer in active use in the Voice-over-IP (VoIP) realm, since VoIP provides alternative pathways for their information.

  • Patent number: 7912717
Abstract: The invention uses the ModelGrower program to generate possible candidates from an original or aggregated model. An isomorphic reduction program operates on the candidates to identify and exclude isomorphic models. A Markov model evaluation and optimization program operates on the remaining non-isomorphic candidates. The candidates are optimized and the ones that most closely conform to the data are kept. The best optimized candidate of one stage becomes the starting candidate for the next stage where ModelGrower and the other programs operate on the optimized candidate to generate a new optimized candidate. The invention repeats the steps of growing, excluding isomorphs, evaluating and optimizing until such repetitions yield no significantly better results.

  • Patent number: 7910410
Abstract: An integrated low leakage Schottky diode has a Schottky barrier junction proximate one side of an MOS gate with one end of a drift region on an opposite side of the gate. Below the Schottky metal and the gate oxide is a RESURF structure of an N? layer over a P? layer which also forms the drift region that ends at the diode's cathode in one embodiment of the present invention. The N? and P? layers have an upward concave shape under the gate. The gate electrode and the Schottky metal are connected to the diode's anode. A P? layer lies between the RESURF structure and an NISO region which has an electrical connection to the anode. A P+ layer under the Schottky metal is in contact with the P? layer through a P well.
