  • Patent number: 4868450
Abstract: This invention provides a source of optical radiation of high brightness obtained from an output window that is located on the axis of an extended length arc discharge device. The arc discharge device is confined by an electrically insulating tubular element, and caused by the tubular element to have an extended length to diameter ratio. The tubular element is provided with a reflecting surface that improves efficiency and increases output. Means are provided to transfer heat from the tubular element and to support high internal gas pressure, and to thereby facilitate use of a very high brightness arc discharge.

  • Patent number: 4864503
Abstract: A method of using a created international language as an intermediate pathway in translation between two national languages, wherein the first language is translated into the created international language, the latter serving as a bridge, which is then translated into the second language. In the present method there are interpretive steps rather than a strict word for word translation, without interpretation, which has proven falacious in the past.

  • Patent number: 4572717
Abstract: A tension indicating device which includes at least one indicating arm and reference means carried by a stamped generally frustoconical spring washer. A relieved area in the bearing surface of the washer prevents work surface irregularities from producing erroneous tension indications. The arm and reference means may mechanically engage one another and the arm may be made separately and attached to the washer. Indications made by the arm are designed to be visually discernable from a distance.

  • Patent number: 4568589
Abstract: An improved patch and method of repair of the integrity and/or surface imperfections of a structure which is defective because of accidental damage or flaws during the course of manufacture or subsequent use and handling. The invention relates to the use of a fibrous cloth which is impregnated by a fast curing acrylic-based adhesive composition which is utilized with an activator/accelerator that can be applied to the margins of the faulty workpiece and thence to the overall impregnated cloth to quickly cure it at ambient temperature. The improved material provides good adhesion to a wide variety of materials including unprepared metals, painted metals, plastics and moist or oil contaminated surfaces and displays a high impact strength heretofore not found in such materials.

  • Patent number: 4550470
Abstract: A rotary damper device comprises a base plate, a rotary cylinder rotatably disposed on the base plate through the medium of a damper, and a coil spring interconnecting the base plate and the rotary cylinder. The base plate and the rotary cylinder are interconnected to the main body of a device and the lid of the device. When the lid is opened or closed, the braking force of the damper and the resilient force of the coil spring cooperate to generate effective braking force and enable the opening-closing device to be opened or closed smoothly under the influence of the effective braking force.

  • Patent number: 4543148
Abstract: A prepackaged dispensing system for a two part permanent adhesive including an adhesive portion and an activator portion. The adhesive portion is housed in the main hollow body of a syringe-like member between an initially closed discharge means end and a sealing piston initially spaced axially form said discharge means end. A removably capped elongated dispensing container, adapted to contain and dispense the activator portion, is telescopically positioned within the hollow body and engages the piston. The combined total axial length of the piston and dispensing container when aligned exceeds the internal length of the hollow main body whereby axial pressure on said container will move said piston and insures substantially total discharge of said adhesive by movement of said piston to the discharge end of said hollow body.

  • Patent number: 4527675
Abstract: An oil type damper comprises a housing, a rotator formed of a hollow shaft and a braking disk, a flexible membrane, a toothed wheel secured to the leading end of the aforementioned hollow shaft, and oil introduced via the hollow shaft into the housing. Since the oil is introduced through the hollow shaft into the housing after the rotator and the flexible membrane have been set in place inside the housing, the work of filling the damper with oil is easy. The flexible membrane absorbs thermal expansion of the oil and precludes otherwise possible oil leakage.
