  • Patent number: 4306824
Abstract: A blind rivet comprising a shank and a rivet body enclosing the shank, the rivet body containing in the cylindrical wall thereof wedge means and windows possessing spaces for admitting the wedge means such that, when the blind rivet is inserted through holes perforated in advance in the panels to be joined therewith and, subsequently, the shank is slid up the interior of the rivet body, the cylindrical wall of the rivet body is bent outwardly in the radial direction and, at the same time, the wedge means are raised and forced into the spaces of the windows, causing the cylindrical wall of the rivet body to be brought into tight contact with the edges of the holes in the panels and consequently enabling the blind rivet to be secured to the panels.

  • Patent number: 4293260
Abstract: In a screw grommet of the type composed of a head portion, a barrel portion extended downwardly from the head portion, and a continuous axial cavity through the head portion and the barrel portion and possessed of an inside diameter smaller than the diameter of screw means destined to be driven into the cavity, the barrel portion is provided thereon with angular portions which are adapted to match to the corners in a polygonal fitting hole punched in a panel for insertion of the grommet and are connected through the medium of hinges to the remaining part of the barrel portion. In the screw grommet, the force generated by the screw means being driven into the axial cavity inside the barrel portion causes the angular portions of the barrel portion to be outwardly expanded and pressed against the corners of the fitting hole without being rotated with the screw means, enabling the grommet to be secured strongly to the panel.

  • Patent number: 4240282
Abstract: There is disclosed a new and improved combined liquid level indicator and hydrometer which includes a light transmitting member having an indicating surface and a reflector surface. The reflector surface is adapted to be submerged in liquid for reflecting light to the indicating surface when the liquid is below a predetermined level. The liquid level indicator and hydrometer further includes a chamber aligned with and partially receiving the reflector surface. The chamber confines and positions a float member relative to the reflector surface for being viewed through the indicating surface responsive to the relative specific gravity of the liquid. A connection means carried by the chamber supports the light transmitting member and aligns the reflector surface with respect to the chamber. The chamber is initially formed in an open condition adapted for accepting the float member therein and is lockable thereafter for capturing the float member within the chamber.

  • Patent number: 4238446
Abstract: In a method for the injection molding of a plastic blind rivet of the type essentially consisting of a shank and a rivet body such that an upward slide of the shank relative to the rivet body causes the leading end of the rivet body to expand outwardly and the outward expansion of the rivet body enables the rivet to be fastened to a panel, the improvement which comprises forming a ring gate in the lower end of the cavity of a second die used for molding a rivet body around a shank molded in advance in a first die, whereby the molten plastic material for the rivet body is allowed to flow through the ring gate into the rivet-body cavity of the second die with high uniformity, whereby the rivet body is produced free from a weld line and consequently from the possibility of sustaining cracks under the force exerted thereon when the shank is slid upwardly therein.
