Abstract: Bottle filling machines are known in which bottles travel in a circular path and, while doing so, are filled with liquid under pressure, e.g. beer, by individually associated filler mechanisms. If, because of the pressure, a bottle explodes, glass fragments can adhere to the associated filler mechanism and it is important that these be removed, to keep glass from entering the next bottle coming in. Resort has been made to using water sprays but heretofore such means have been relatively ineffective and in some cases, very messy in operation. The present invention provides apparatus which can thoroughly clean a filler mechanism in the event of an exploding bottle. A broken bottle sensor is located between the infeed mechanism and outfeed mechanism on the bottle filling machine.

Abstract: An emulsion is stored in pressure containers and is ultimately forced from one container and then the other to a pump which pumps the emulsion against back pressure of the food product into a long Teflon tube of large diameter. The tube passes through cavities in plural microwave ovens and is cured by microwave energy from two magnetrons in each oven operating at about 2,450 megahertz and 1,000 watts each. The flow rate is controlled by the pump so that the food product remains in the microwave energy field for about 4 to 5 minutes whereupon it is fully cured. The continuously flowing food product in the tube is surrounded by a hot oil heat exchanger which heats the surface to about two to five hundred Fahrenheit, while the product is radially constrained and is under back pressure. The tube passes through a cooling heat exchanger immediately after the heater whereupon the surface is cooled to about 40.degree. Fahrenheit while radially constrained and under pressure, thus forming a smooth self-skin.
Abstract: The invention provides a device for printing and advancing tickets from a roll with various advance distances achieved with the aid of a single cam and cam follower together with an electronically operated stop which limits the movements of the follower at required moments.

Abstract: A multi-plate friction clutch for a motor vehicle to automatically engage normally driven wheels with wheels which are not normally driven includes a fluid pressure piston/cylinder for engaging the plates connected to a pressure line and a discharge line through two rotary valves. One valve is formed by an inner plate carrier rotatable on a drive shaft through an angle .alpha. and the other valve is formed by a sleeve around the shaft and rotatable with respect to a fixed housing through an angle .beta.. The cylinder is selectively pressurized or de-pressurized through bores, ducts, ports and line systems in dependence or the relative rotary movements of the valves. An over-ride valve is provided.
Abstract: A unidirectional mechanism slides along guides within a casing against a spring. A recess in one end of the unidirectional mechanism receives the head of an anchor bolt, and a cover on the casing near that end receives a nut on the anchor bolt.Turning the casing in a counterclockwise direction engages the one-way mechanism, turning both the anchor bolt and the nut. When the anchor bolt is secure, the casing is turned clockwise. The one-way mechanism automatically disengages and the nut is turned on the anchor bolt without turning the anchor bolt.

Abstract: A bearing has a self-lubricating liner including sheets of felted polytetrafluoroethylene fibers impregnated with cured phenolic resin having no surface bonding to the fibers. Sheets of fibrous fabric are felted to sheets of felted fibers. Sintered particles are dispersed in the low friction surface of the liner. Liners are formed by air drying resin-impregnated sheets of felted fibrous material. The resin may be cured in a heated platen press before assembly of the bearing. The bearing is assembled by deforming bearing members to form an interference fit between the members and a bearing liner disposed therebetween. Parting compound applied to one of the bearing members prevents bonding of the liner to that member when the liner is baked to cure the resin and bond the liner to the other member.Bushes and bushings having self-lubricating linings are disclosed. Arbors and mandrels form an interference fit between the linings and bushes and bushings during assembly.
