  • Patent number: 4341091
Abstract: A cold temperature chilling storage and transportation container specifically is used for fish. The space between double walls of regular or crosslinked polyethylene is filled with polyurethane foam. The outer bottom wall has nine legs formed integrally therewith. The inner bottom wall slopes to a recessed one inch opening in which a plug may be inserted. The upper half of the sidewalls extends outward about an inch and a half on each side so that empty containers may be telescoped. A cover overhangs the outer wall and has lower recesses to receive the sidewall. Nine upper recesses in the cover receive legs of the bottom wall for stacking the containers. The legs enable a forklift to be inserted from either side. A hollow double walled air manifold fits within the bottom and has a nipple to which an air hose may be connected. In use, ice is placed in the container, later, salt water and fish are added.

  • Patent number: 4337547
Abstract: A screen wiper intended to be detachably fitted on the end of a wiper arm, comprises a harness having means for attachment of the harness to said arm, an elastically deformable elongated piece having means along a portion thereof towards one end for supporting a portion of a wiper blade, and a yoke pivotally mounted towards the other end of said elongated piece for supporting the portion of the blade rubber not carried by the said elongated piece. By mounting the blade in this manner the blade can undergo independant deformation on each side of the articulation point of the wiper arm, which eliminates practically all risk of lift-away such as can occur with known wipers when they encounter zones of great curvature.

  • Patent number: 4336143
Abstract: In the control of the treatment of a mixture (eg slurry, tailings or sludge) comprising solid (eg fine coal, shale, or clay) and liquid (eg water) signals are derived which are indicative of the total liquid in the mixture fed for treatment and of the cumulative discharged filtrate, the signals being processed to give an indication of the amount of liquid retained in the mixture as the treatment progresses, at least a part of the treatment being controlled in response to the derived signal comparison.

  • Patent number: 4336451
Abstract: Locations of buried deposits are determined by detecting the presence of Pb214, Bi214, Po214, Pb210, Bi210 and Po210 in solutions obtained by chemically leaching these elements from rocks and soil. Polonium from the solution is plated on silver foil planchets. Alpha sensitive films are exposed to the alpha decay of Po214 and Po210 by contacting the films with the planchets. The films, when etched, reveal the damage caused by the passage of the high energy alpha particles. Alpha damage as a function of sample size, volume of solution used, planchet, foil or film area and exposure times measures concentration of Po214 and Po210 in the sample. Anomalus concentrations suggest presence of buried deposits containing uranium. Similar anomalus concentrations of alpha damage from Bi212 and Po212 formed in films exposed to foils or planchets plated from leached solutions containing Pb212, Bi212 and Po212 suggest deposits containing thorium.

  • Patent number: 4335708
Abstract: Solar collectors have flat plate-like foil tubes with permeable interlayers with lattice structure surfaces bonded to the foils of the tube. Several tubes with insulating backing are seam bonded together to form a sheet for covering a roof. Heat transfer medium flows from inlets into a space along one side of the tube, through the permeable interlayer into a space along the other side of the tube and through an outlet. The structure is thin, light, inexpensive and easy to install. Flow of medium which covers substantially all of a surface may be precisely controlled. Temperature of medium in the collectors may be maintained only slightly higher than temperatures throughout the system.

  • Patent number: 4331213
Abstract: An exhaust gas control system has a guiding pipe with a proximal inlet end for connecting to a distal end of an engine exhaust pipe. An expanding portion of the guiding pipe has a central rearward expanding cone and spiralling blades extending between the cone and the walls of the expanding portion. The expanding portion is followed by an axially decreasing chamber and then an axially increasing chamber to the distal opening. A duct is supported on radial vanes around the latter chambers. The duct has a forward opening slightly rearward of a maximum cross-sectional dimension of the guiding pipe and has an outlet positioned rearward of the distal opening of the guiding pipe.

  • Patent number: 4331408
Abstract: The photographic bellows unit is provided with a device for indicating the distance between the standards which support the bellows and are adjustable relative to each other. There are arranged between the standards (2;3) two scissors-shaped levers (8;13) which are hingedly inter-connected at one lever end and whose other end is rotatably hinged to respectively one of the standards (2;3). An index (15) is arranged on one pivotable lever (13) and a measuring scale is arranged on the other pivotable lever (8).In this manner it is possible to avoid the computational determination of the respective distance between the two standards as the indicating device allows the distance between the two standards to be read directly irrespective of the position of the standards with respect to the guide.

  • Patent number: 4331214
Abstract: The acoustical radiation from handling empty cans and containers is reduced to sound levels which decrease the risk of hearing damage for exposed personnel by this invention. The invention comprises the temporary use of damping end-caps comprised of viscoelastic material which eliminates metal to metal contact between containers, guides, and cables and which also dissipates vibratory and airborne acoustical energy in the containers, thereby reducing the acoustical radiation. The invention is applicable in particular to canneries and canning operations.

  • Patent number: 4328693
Abstract: The present invention relates to an electrically actuated lock of the type comprising a rotor pivoting in a body and capable of being locked in relation to the said body by locking members constituted by pairs of opposed pistons or by keepers. The locking members are displaced by notches of a key, coded to permit the rotation of the rotor by action upon the key head. In this invention the unlocking of the rotor is effected by electric means without any opening of the rotor to the external environment, thus ensuring perfect sealing and inviolability. The lock comprises a key shank provided with coded notches, the shank being connected in translation with the movable armature of an electro-magnet, the rotor being provided with a graspable head by means of which the user can rotate the rotor when unlocked by the key.

  • Patent number: 4329571
Abstract: Integrated circuits contained in a rail are passed through cylindrical electrodes. Two electrodes are connected to an oscillator to transmit out of phase fields. A receiving electrode's output has the residual oscillator frequency component removed by a nulling network and summation device, whose output is fed to a band pass amplifier and balanced demodulator, which receives a phase shifted input from the oscillator. Demodulator output components at and above the oscillator frequency are removed by a low pass filter. A demodulator output above the reference voltage triggers a counter.

  • Patent number: 4328606
Abstract: A plurality of elongated concrete tubular vaults are arranged upright resting on closed lower ends and are interconnected in mutual lateral support, leaving auxiliary spaces between the vaults. End-opening tubular caskets are vertically disposed in the vaults and the vaults are closed by step-fitted covers. Threaded central openings in the covers of the vaults and the caskets receive ring bolts for lowering the casket into the vault and lowering the vault cover to close the vault.

  • Patent number: 4327698
Abstract: An exhaust gas recirculating device in which the intake mixed fuel gas passageway is surrounded by a double wall tube which defines a ring shaped space therebetween. Recirculating exhaust gas is introduced into the ring shaped space to heat the inner tube of the double wall to ease vaporization of the wall stream of fuel and the exhaust gas is blown out from a narrowed outlet of the space so as to well mix the fuel gas mixture and the recirculating exhaust gas.
