Abstract: The proportion of a radioactive material in a moving mass of material is determined with a sensor which derives an output signal proportional to the mass of radioactive material. The output signal is calibrated against known reference values to give a quantitative value of mass. The sensor includes a plurality of scintillation crystals. Problems associated with inhomogeneity of material distribution are overcome by averaging the sensed radiation over a time period.

A second fuel nozzle is provided which opens into the mixture conduit at a point on the upstream of the vacuum sustaining plate for allowing discharge of fuel in amounts proportional to vacuums appearing in the mixture conduit upstream of the vacuum sustaining plate.
Abstract: A cold temperature chilling storage and transportation container specifically is used for fish. The space between double walls of regular or cross-linked polyethylene is filled with polyurethane foam. The outer bottom wall has nine legs formed integrally therewith. The inner bottom wall slopes to a recessed one inch opening in which a plug may be inserted. The upper half of the sidewalls extends outward about an inch and a half on each side so that empty containers may be telescoped. A cover overhangs the outer wall and has lower recesses to receive the sidewall. Nine upper recesses in the cover receive legs of the bottom wall for stacking the containers. The legs enable a forklift to be inserted from either side. A hollow double walled air manifold fits within the bottom and has a nipple to which an air hose may be connected. In use, ice is placed in the container; later, salt water and fish are added.
Abstract: A release mechanism is provided for the viewfinder mirror, which is held in the viewfinder position, of a single-lens mirror reflex camera having a photoelectrically controlled lens diaphragm. A locking device in the release mechanism, which device interrupts the closing of the lens diaphragm, comprises a detent tooth (31) which keeps the viewfinder mirror (27) in the viewfinder position against the action of the swivel spring (30). The tooth (31) can be brought out of engagement with the swivelling lever (10) of the viewfinder mirror (27) upon the electromagnetic release of the locking device for the interruption of the closing of the lens diaphragm. This achieves a release of the viewfinder mirror, and thus the initiation of the exposure operation, to be effected approximately simultaneously with the photoelectrically controlled interruption of the closing of the diaphragm.

Abstract: The invention comprehends a remote control mechanism having a beam swingable about a pivot to transmit a pushing force to a first cable and a pulling force to a second cable which cables are connected to locations of said beam on opposite sides of said pivot, said pushing and pulling forces being reversed when said beam is swung in opposite directions, said beam also having a third cable connected thereto at said pivot, said beam also being movable in further opposite directions in a manner such as to transmit, when moved in one such direction, pushing forces to each of said first, second and third cables, and when moved in the opposite such direction, pulling forces to each of said first, second and third cables, wherein(a) said third cable is a push cable and said first and second cables are pull cables, or(b) said third cable is a pull cable and said first and second cables are push cables.
Abstract: Self-monitoring seals have ends of fiber optic bundle loops mounted in stressed tamper resistant containers. A battery operates microelectronics to change a display in predetermined sequence. Tampering with the container or interrupting or changing the light transmission through the fiber optic bundle disrupts the predetermined display sequence.
Abstract: A granular or plate-like calcium aluminum silicate layer stores water beneath fertile soil. The silicate material may be coated with fertilizer or chemicals and may be shipped and installed within a wrapping, at least one surface of which is moisture pervious. A fleece-like material may form the pervious surface. A silicate container with a perforated cover and sidewalls fits within a planter. A filler pipe extends through the soil into the container. The silicate material may be mixed with the fertile soil.
Abstract: Goods to be packed are continuously collected in units of goods. Parallelly therewith plain package blanks are preformed to package containers, which are completely open at least at one vertical side. The units of goods and the open package containers are moved in a continuous feeding movement side by side with the same speed, and with the open container side facing the unit of goods. During the feeding movement a unit of goods is pushed sideways into a package container. The open container side or sides are closed and sealed, and the package is moved away from the packaging station. The front side and the rear side of the preformed package container as considered in the feeding direction are widened in relation to each other before the units of goods are pushed into the containers to facilitate the pushing in of the units of goods into the package containers.
