Abstract: Enriched enantiomers of glycerol Carbonate are produced under the influence of a hydrolytic enzyme, either by selective esterification of racemic glycerol carbonate or by selective hydrolysis of an ester of the racemate. The enriched enantiomeric product is readily converted to starting materials and intermediates useful in the synthesis of enantiomerically pure therapeutic agents, such as .beta.-adrenergic blockers.

Abstract: Olefinically unsaturated adducts of ethylene on polyunsaturated fatty acids with 18 to 22 carbon atoms or on esters of these fatty acids with C.sub.1 -C.sub.36 alkanols in molar ratios of ethylene to fatty acids or fatty acid esters in the range from 1:1 to 3:1 obtainable by reacting the fatty acids or fatty acid esters with ethylene at elevated temperature and pressure in the presence of compounds of the transition metals Ru, Rh, Pd, Ir and Pt as catalysts to form an olefinically unsaturated adduct.
Abstract: The description is of a process for the production of light-colored lower alkane sulfonic acids, especially methane sulphonic acid, by reacting the corresponding alkyl halide with alkaline halides and obtaining the free alkane sulphonic acid. In the process of the invention, the reaction is performed as a liquid/liquid reaction at temperature not exceeding 120 degrees C., and at such high pressures that even the lower alkyl halide is in the liquid phase at the reaction temperature, the aqueous reaction mixture is reduced by water content of some 50% wt. at the most, the alkaline sulphonic acid is liberated from its alkaline salt by the addition of HCl, the solid salt phase still remaining in the reaction mixture is separated out and the free alkaline sulphonic acid is obtained from the liquid phase.

Abstract: Concentrated hard surface cleaning compositions containing pine oil and/or terpenes and nonionic and a anionic surfactants can be obtained as clear liquids which remain clear when diluted with water.
Abstract: The invention is a process for reducing the fatty alcohol content of a mixture of fatty alcohol and fatty glycoside product by passing the mixture through a forced circulation evaporation zone to form a mixture of fatty alcohol and fatty glycoside product with a reduced fatty alcohol content and passing the mixture with the reduced fatty alcohol content to a wiped film evaporator to remove additional fatty alcohol.
Abstract: The alkylsulphate pastes disclosed can be prepared by sulphonating mixtures containing a)50-90% by weight of at least one aliphatic primary alcohol with 6-22 carbon atoms and b)1-50% by weight of at least one unsaturated fatty acid glyceride ester derived from fatty acids having 16-22 carbon atoms and having one, two or three double bonds, with gaseous sulphur trioxide and subsequently neutralizing and hydrolysing the reaction products with aqueous bases in such a way that pastes with solids contents of 30-80% by weight are obtained.

Abstract: A process for the preparation of alkali metal salts of ether-carboxylic acids by oxidation of etheralcohols in an aqueous phase with oxygen or gases containing oxygen at elevated temperatures in the presence of alkali metal hydroxides and noble metal catalysts, in which an aqueous solution, containing an alkali metal hydroxide solution, of the ether-alcohols is brought into contact in a thin layer on a solid carrier or in the form of fine particles with oxygen or the gases containing oxygen as a continuous phase, the concentration of the ether-alcohols in the aqueous phase being in the range from 0.1 to 15% by weight, based on the total weight of the aqueous phase, enables aqueous solutions of the alkali metal salts of the ether-carboxylic acids in high concentrations to be prepared.

Abstract: The invention describes a process for the partial or complete exchange of the free radical inhibitors (preparation inhibitor) from their admixtures with free radical-reactive--and especially polymerizable and/or cross-linkable--olefinically mono- and/or polyunsaturated compounds against free radical inhibitors or inhibitor systems (application inhibitor), the kind and amount of which are freely determinable.
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the stereo-selective preparation of 8.alpha.,12-oxido-13,14,15,16-tetranorlabdane by dehydration of 8.alpha.,12-dihydroxy-13,14,15,16-tetranorlabdane with acid-charged aluminium oxides.
Abstract: A defoamer for use in textile dyeing operations is comprised of mineral oil, high density polyethylene, a di-(ethoxyalkyl) ester of phosphoric acid, hydrophobic silica, and a blend of nonionic surfactants.
Abstract: The concentrates consist essentially of 35 to 55% by weight water, 10 to 30% by weight of an alkyl glycoside corresponding to the formula R.sup.1 --O(G).sub.n, in which R.sup.1 is a C.sub.8-22 alkyl radical, G is a glycose unit and n is a number of 1 to 10, 10 to 30% by weight of an alkyl sulfate corresponding to the formula R.sup.2 --O--SO.sub.3 X, in which R.sup.2 is a C.sub.8-22 alkyl radical and X is an alkali or ammonium ion, and 1 to 15% by weight of an alkane sulfonate corresponding to the formula ##STR1## in which R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 independently of one another represent C.sub.1-18 alkyl radicals, with the proviso that the total number of carbon atoms in the alkane sulfonate is between 10 and 20, and Y is an alkali or ammonium ion. They are used as storable, free-flowing and pumpable compounds, preferably for the production of detergents.
Abstract: A process for the transformation of glycerol into 1,3-propanediol by microorganisms comprising fermenting the microorganisms in media having a glycerol content of from about 5% to about 20% by weight under standard anaerobic fermentation conditions and recovering the 1,3-propanediol.
