  • Patent number: 4230223
Abstract: A dual cable conveyor and a turn comprising two parallel horiztonally running container-conveying and supporting cables. The cables run in parallel tracks and both simultaneously support the can which straddles the cables. At the turn, an upper and a lower sheave are provided independently rotatable about a common vertical axis. Each sheave has a peripheral groove defined by a narrow upper flange and a wide cable-supporting lower flange. The upper flange is less than the radius of the cable and the lower flange is greater than the radius but smaller than the diameter. The inner cable rides about the upper sheave which is smaller and runs faster than the lower sheave. The inner cable has lengthwise thereof its upper sector tangential to the outer periphery of the upper sheave and therewith supports and advances the cans between appropriately curved inner and outer guide rails.

  • Patent number: 4202750
Abstract: A container having a rigid wall with a sacrificial anode non-removably attached to the inner surface thereof. Both the container wall and the anode are formed with nested integral rivets, whereby the anode is held in close contact with the container wall. Formation of the rivet on the container wall causes fracture of the protective enamel or lacquer coating thereon, and exposure of the underlying metal, whereby electrical contact between the anode and the container wall is established. There is also disclosed a method or methods of achieving the attachment of the anode to the container wall in accordance with the present invention.

  • Patent number: 4197960
Abstract: A tamper-proof cap and neck assembly made of stretchable plastic material in which the neck has portions fitted within and about a short metal neck portion of a container which serves as a rigidifying back up for the plastic neck and for a locking shoulder on the neck to provide a deflection resistant structure and thereby prevent a tamper-indicating ring connected to the cap from slipping off the shoulder without tearing upon initial unthreading of the cap. This rigidified structure also facilitates application of the tamper-indicating ring during initial threading of the cap onto the threaded neck at which time the ring is stretched over the shoulder by a capper bead which engages force-transmitting posts integral with the ring for forcing the ring over the locking shoulder, the band being stretched between the posts and extending beneath the shoulder as chordal segments.

  • Patent number: 4177877
Abstract: A vest adapted to be worn by a workman operating at perilous heights. The vest has straps between the lining and the outer fabric. The straps have crossed sections in the back of the garment and vertical sections in the front panels. The lower ends of the front and rear section are secured to a body embracing belt which is sewed to the fabric along the belt line. The upper end of each crossed section extends from one side of the vest to the other and has its upper end formed into a hooking loop with the upper end of the vertical section at that side of the vest, the loop projecting through an opening formed in the associated shoulder portion of the garment for connection to one end of flexible line which is adapted at its other end to be secured to structure at an elevation higher than where the workman is operating.
