  • Patent number: 7747841
Abstract: A technique known as checkpointed early load retirement, combines register checkpointing load-value prediction to manage long-latency loads. When a long-latency load reaches the retirement stage unresolved, the processor enters Clear mode by (1) taking a Checkpoint of the architectural registers, (2) supplying a load-value prediction to consumers, and (3) early-retiring the long-latency load. This unclogs retirement, thereby “clearing the way” for subsequent instructions to retire, and also allowing instructions dependent on the long-latency load to execute sooner. When the actual value returns from memory, it is compared against the prediction. A misprediction causes the processor to roll back to the checkpoint, discarding all subsequent computation.

  • Patent number: 7687950
Abstract: A downhole source of electrical power for drilling tools is driven by the rotation of a drillstring or, if the drillstring is not rotating, by the rotation of a drilling sub. The source consists of an alternator having a rotor made up of a series of coils that are mounted on, and spaced around the circumference of, a rotating drilling sub, and a stator made up of a multiplicity of permanent magnets also spaced around the circumference of the drilling sub. The stator is mounted on the drilling sub by means of bearings and incorporates a counterweight that holds the rotor relatively stationary with respect to the sub and with respect to the coils, so that rotation of the sub, either by rotation of the drillstring or by rotation of a drill motor in the drilling sub, produces relative rotation of the rotor and stator to generate an AC electrical output.

  • Patent number: 7575545
Abstract: A system comprises alternative processing sections for use in the further processing of products. A separator, at which a transport section is divided into several alternative transport sections for the further processing of products in processing stages, is provided. A sensor, that detects the phasing of the products, is located upstream of the separator. A request from the sensor acts on a drive which actuates the separator through a control device. A further sensor, which detects the product phasing, is located on each of the at least two transport sections. This further sensor is connected to a drive for the processing stage served by respective ones of the separate transport sections. The drive of each such processing stage is controlled independently of the drive for the respective transport section by a suitable control unit which takes into consideration the detected product phasing for the associated transport section.

  • Patent number: 7494097
Abstract: A bucket clamp assembly receives and supports a five gallon bucket securely in place while the user mixes slurry-like products. The bucket is preferably inserted into the clamp assembly on the ground. The user places the bucket on a base plate between a fixed front support and an opposing hinged rear support and firmly against the hinged rear support, thereby raising a lever arm operating the hinged support to an open position. The user then presses her or his right foot firmly down on the exposed upper surface of the base plate and places the left foot across the lever arm. The clamp is thereby securely pressed to the ground using the worker's body weight. Further pressing the left foot down across the lever arm also forces the hinged rear clamp support surface to swing distally or forwardly, thereby firmly squeezing the sides of the bucket against the opposing, fixed clamp support, securing the bucket in place for safe and efficient mixing.
