  • Patent number: 7184584
Abstract: A method for qualitatively evaluating material with at least one identification characteristic, whose position can vary within an expectation range designated by tolerance limits, involves the use of at least one illuminating device, at least one photoelectric sensor and an evaluating device. At least one background reference value and at least one mask reference are stored in the evaluating device. The background reference represents the characteristics of a printed image, particularly the gray scale value, in at least one portion which surrounds the identification characteristic. The mask reference represents the geometrical contour of the identification characteristic. During inspection of the printed material, differential image data is found, at least from the expectation range, from the actual image data, and from the background reference value in the evaluating device. The actual position of the identification characteristic is subsequently derived in the evaluating device.

  • Patent number: 7182022
Abstract: A device is used to store blankets or dressings which are to be supplied to a cylinder of a printing machine. A plurality of such blankets or dressings, which are to be applied to the cylinder adjacent each other and axially spaced, are stored next to each other. These blankets or dressings are stored vertically above a supporting surface, in at least two vertically offset planes. The offset planes form a first storage position and the supporting surface forms a second storage position once at least one of the blankets or dressings has been stored in the different planes.

  • Patent number: 7181233
Abstract: An economical, reliable, robust and easy to use multi-user voice communication system and method suitable for use in rapidly evolving tactical or hazardous situations continuously permits each user to hear every voice communication occurring among the other users, no matter when each user speaks, and no matter how many users try to speak at once. One may characterize this as a wearable party-line radio network, because it works like a wireless party-line telephone service in that all users continuously hear every speaker, even when speaking simultaneously. The system is transportable and operable without requiring any set-up procedure or installation of a central hub or router for controlling a varying number of users when moving. Each user carries a transceiver handset with one transmitter and two or more transceivers tuned to the other transmitters in a group.

  • Patent number: 7178417
Abstract: A content use monitoring system is provided for monitoring use of blister packaged contents. The monitoring device comprises an integrated circuit (14), battery (16) and piezo-electric foil (18) or other transducer that can be attached to a existing blister package, in physical contact with their backing, via adhesive. When a content is expelled from a blister through the backing, the piezo-electric foil (18) or other transducer is deformed, generating an electrical signal. The integrated circuit (14) monitors the piezo-electric foil circuit for such signals, analyses them, and if they meet the programmed specifications, the time and other characteristics of the event are recorded in the integrated circuit's memory. The content use data can later be downloaded for analysis, education or clinical purposes via either a remote or contact reader.

  • Patent number: 7178353
Abstract: A system and method for controlling the temperature of a process tool uses the vaporizable characteristic of a refrigerant that is provided in direct heat exchange relation with the process tool. Pressurized refrigerant is provided as both condensed liquid and in gaseous state. The condensed liquid is expanded to a vaporous mix, and the gaseous refrigerant is added to reach a target temperature determined by its pressure. Temperature corrections can thus be made very rapidly by gas pressure adjustments. The process tool and the operating parameters will usually require that the returning refrigerant be conditioned and processed for compatibility with the compressor and other units, so that cycling can be continuous regardless of thermal demands and changes.

  • Patent number: 7156018
Abstract: A printing couple in a printing machine is comprised of at least three cylinders, a forme cylinder, a transfer cylinder and a counter-pressure cylinder. The counter-pressure cylinder forms a printing location or point in cooperation with the transfer cylinder. The transfer cylinder is mounted in at least one lever which can be pivoted about an eccentrically pivoting axis in relation to the rotational axis of the forme cylinder. When the three cylinders are in a print position, a connecting plane through the axis of rotation of the forme cylinder and the pivoting axis of the lever forms an angle of between 25° and 65° with a plane through the axis of rotation of the cylinder forming the printing point.
