  • Patent number: 4889062
Abstract: A sewing machine capable of producing embroidery stitches on a workpiece which in general require the workpiece to be shifted relative to a needle in a lateral direction as well as a longitudinal direction. The sewing machine has first and second vertical extending presser bars provided at their lower ends with press rollers. The presser bars are spring-biased downwardly so that the press rollers exert downwardly directing pressure onto the workpiece. First and second feed rollers are arranged within a workpiece supporting table of the sewing machine, in opposition to the press rollers respectively. The first feed rollers are rotated by a first drive motor to feed the workpiece in the lateral direction, whereas the second feed rollers are rotated by a first drive motor to feed the workpiece in the longitudinal direction, thereby feeding the workpiece in any direction in a desired amount.

  • Patent number: 4887583
Abstract: A safety device for a toy gun has first and second firing pins which can block movement of a trigger. The firing pins are electro-magnetically operated. The first firing pin is normally in a position which blocks movement of the trigger and the second firing pin is normally in a position which allows movement of the trigger. A power source is connected to the first firing pin by a switch so that trigger movement is blocked by the first firing pin until the switch is activated. The switch also connects the power source to a photo-electric switch which includes a light emitter and a light sensor. The second firing pin is connected to the power source by the photo-electric switch so that movement of the trigger is blocked by the second firing pin only when the photo-electric switch is closed. The photo-electric switch detects the presence of a target within a preset range of the toy gun and closes if a target is detected.

  • Patent number: 4879892
Abstract: A continuous drawing machine for drawing elongated material through a die has two drawing carriages each with one pair of jaws to grip the wire. The jaws are wedge-shaped and mounted on their rear side in oblique supports. Once in operation they are self-gripping. A linkage system, comprising an arm extending from each carriage and two cam curves on the machine-frame, controls the initial grip of the jaws on the wire. The two cam curves are formed by an oscillating tongue articulated on the machine frame next to the starting position of the carriage. The arm has a follower-roll that follows the first cam curve and thus clamps the wire. During the return of the carriage the tongue with the two cam curves thereon is pushed away by the follower-roll rolling or sliding with its face along the second cam curve. The tongue snaps back by means of a spring as soon as the follower-roll has passed and again offers the first cam curve to the follower-roll after the reversal of the carriage's moving direction.

  • Patent number: 4878444
Abstract: An electronic zigzag sewing machine is provided with a presser foot including a switch lever pivotable between a first and second position. During buttonhole stitching operation the switch lever remains in the first position, but it is shifted to the second position when either one of longitudinal ends of a buttonhole is detected. A photo-sensor is mounted to the presser foot to output a detection signal when the switch lever is in the second position. A pattern number designating a specific stitch pattern of the buttonhole stitches is renewed to the next in response to the detection signal from the photo-sensor. A control system is provided to nullify operation of the photo-sensor during production of bar tacks of the buttonhole stitches so that the pattern number is not renewed in areas of the bar tacks irrespective of output of the detection signal.
