  • Patent number: 6146635
Abstract: The present invention relates to biotechnology and genetic engineering, particularly the expression of proteins of viral origin in microorganisms through their fusion, by applying the recombinant DNA technology, to bacterial peptides. The present invention provides an efficient process for the expression in Escherichia coli of heterologous proteins as fusion polypeptides with a view to obtaining them with a high degree of purity, in commercially useful amounts, and in an appropriate form for their inclusion in vaccine preparations intended to human use. To this effect, what is essentially used is a stabilizing sequence derived from the first 47 amino acids of the antigen P64k of Neisseria meningitidis B:4:P1.15. In particular, use is made of a recombinant plasmid containing said sequence, under the control of the tryptophane promotor of E.

  • Patent number: 6140589
Abstract: A multi-wire stranded conductor is formed of a bare wire central core. An intermediate SZ stranded wire is wound on the core, while an outer layer is helically wound on the intermediate SZ wound layer. The intermediate and outer layers assure that the composite conductor maintains a substantially circular cross-section while the helical outer layer also assures the mechanical integrity of the intermediate SZ layer.

  • Patent number: 6131222
Abstract: A combination trowel and screwdriver is provided wherein the trowel handle houses and removably retains a tool bit drive assembly which houses a plurality of tool bit or screw drives. The user pivots the tool bit drive assembly housing away from the handle to a position extending in the proximate direction from the handle. The user then selects the desired tool bit drive for insertion at the proximate end of the assembly and with the proximate end of the handle screws the screw into a recessed position in a wallboard construction. The user then retracts or repivots the tool bit drive assembly into the handle, and then with the trowel end putties or spreads a wallboard plastic or finishing material over the recessed screw head to finish the wall.

  • Patent number: 6133650
Abstract: A DC power source device in which the voltage dividing ratio of a voltage dividing circuit of an error detecting circuit is changed from a reference value to a value smaller than the reference value thereby to decrease the voltages of DC outputs. In the device, a bleeder circuit in which the connection and disconnection of a bleeder resistor are switchable, is connected to a reference DC output among the above DC outputs which is to be subjected to error detecting. After the voltage dividing ratio is changed to the smaller value, the bleeder resistor is connected to the reference DC output for a predetermined period of time.

  • Patent number: 6134523
Abstract: Coding bit rate converting method and apparatus for coded audio data are disclosed to convert input coded audio data to output coded data of a coding bit rate lower than a target coding bit rate. A control output is taken out when the frame size of the input coded audio data is larger than the frame size determined by the target coding bit rate, and the output coded data is provided as a converted output by controlling parameters defining the frame size of the input coded audio data by the use of the control output in a predetermined procedure until the frame size of the input coded audio data becomes smaller than the frame size determined by the target coding bit rate.

  • Patent number: 6119535
Abstract: A plurality of sensing units are buried at suitable intervals in an area of ground or a snow accumulation section to be observed. Each of the sensing units includes a gyro-sensor for, when external force acts on it as a result of the displacement of the ground or the snow accumulation section, sensing impulsive acceleration from the magnitude and direction of the displacement and the inclination of the sensing unit itself, and a transmission section for transmitting the sense data by radio. A base station acquires the sense data transferred from the sensing units, processes the sense data for each measuring point in real time, determines the movement of the ground and/or the snow accumulation section, and judges a state of the ground and/or the snow accumulation section on the basis of the movement.

  • Patent number: 6119874
Abstract: A spacesaver product display hanger system includes long and short elongated members having different horizontally spaced information displays, and each product display has a hook for displaying and hanging product packages in a space saving manner while permitting conventionally sized and readable bar code product information on the product information displays. The display members or hangers are mounted with two long information display members immediately juxtaposed to each other with a short information display member disposed between and behind the two long information display members, so that the three hookloads of such product packages are disposed within the transverse horizontal space occupied by the two long information display members. The present system provides conventionally sized bar codes and other product description and pricing information, while providing three product displays in the space normally needed for at most two product package displays.

  • Patent number: 6116465
Abstract: The container stopper comprises a cylindrical part to be engaged in the neck of a container and has a groove which extends peripherally on at least one part of the cylindrical part circumference. Two channels separated from each other, extend in the cylindrical part of the stopper and open into the groove through orifices respectively spaced from each other in the groove peripheral direction. A diaphragm of elastomeric material closely matches the shape of the cylindrical part and the groove surface covering the orifices of the two channels. The diaphragm forms a shut-off valve that by its elastic deformation, allows a fluid substance contained in the container to flow from inside the container outwards, as well as from outside into the said container.

  • Patent number: 6105474
Abstract: A driver bit tool having an elongate handle that has a central channel through which a predetermined length portion of the bit driver can be inserted. The driver bit is retained within the handle by any suitable means and one or more relatively thin magnets having high energy products are arranged on the side of the handle in close proximity to the driver bit receiving channel for generating a magnetic field which is substantially normal to the handle axis, the field created by the magnet being coupled to the driver bit. The position of the magnets and annular sleeves of magnetizable material are preferably used to optimize coupling of the field to the driver bit to optimize the amount of magnetic field that passes through the accessible operative tip of the driver bit so as to effectively magnetize the exposed driver tip of the bit driver.

  • Patent number: 6106266
Abstract: The invention relates to an extruder apparatus for the extrusion of caoutchouc mixtures and plastics, having a gear extruder consisting of a housing in which a pair of gears that mesh with one another, and two intake rollers, are housed, and there is also provided in the apparatus two intake channels and one extrusion channel. It is the task of the invention, by simple means, and in a simple manner, to improve material intake and to better fill the tooth spaces with the material to be extruded, and by doing so, to reduce inclusions of air that are brought along as well. The invention resides in the fact that one pushes in the material to be processed, as far as possible into the tooth spaces of the gears by means of the intake rollers, which are arranged at a point at which the teeth of the gears constitute, together with the inner wall of the housing, an intake slot, and in so doing, one expels, at least in part, the air that is situated in the tooth spaces.
