  • Patent number: 8231061
Abstract: A contactless device includes a miniaturized antenna. The antenna includes an inductive coupling element that presents a field coupling surface area to couple to a magnetic field. The inductive element may be made of layers where conductive loops are formed parallel to the layers or perpendicular to the layers. When conductive loops are formed perpendicular to the layers, the effective field coupling surface area is increased. The inductive element is positioned on an outside edge of a memory card compatible device with the field coupling surface area perpendicular to the card.

  • Patent number: 8183085
Abstract: Method and systems provide growth of polymer structures at a high rate in a selective manner. In various embodiments, the method or system can expose the growth site to a polymer source and growing a polymer tube at a rate of at least 80 micrometer per hour at the growth site. The method or system can provide selectivity by providing a growth site on a substrate by patterning a metal, such as copper, that provides a seed site for the polymer. Non-selected sites can be coated with a polymer growth inhibitor, such as polyimide or silicon nitride.

  • Patent number: 7737894
Abstract: A point-to-point radio communications device, with an integrated antenna-IC module, includes highly-directional antenna elements and silicon CMOS-based ICs in plastic packaging material. The high-gain horn-type antenna includes two sections made of molded plastic and covered in a metallic coating. When combined, the two sections form an aperture and an opening on a face. The face of the antenna element can be mounted directly to an integrated circuit with an antenna coupling element, such that the aperture forms a horn-IC module. The module can be completely enclosed in a plastic-packaging environment using low-cost approach. The antenna-IC module can be manufactured as an integral part of a case for a point-to-point wireless electronic device such as a mobile video phone or a set-top box with tens of gigabits of video downloading capability.

  • Patent number: 7710925
Abstract: Stations in an N×N multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) wireless network always puncture the weakest spatial channel. A receiving station determines channel state information for N spatial channels and feeds back to the transmitting station channel state information for only N?1 spatial channels. The channel state information may include a beamforming matrix to cause the transmitting station to utilize N?1 spatial channels.
