    Abstract: An apparatus for separation of ferromagnetic materials has a working chamber occupied by a ferromagnetic attachment in the form of plates with openings edged by shaped projections, a magnetizing system and means for consolidation of the plates made in the form of an additional magnetic field source, and inlet and outlet connections, respectively, for fluid medium. The spacing of the openings on the plate, their sizes and configuration, the sizes of the projections and the distance between the plates are selected to be variable throughout the volume of the working chamber depending on the magnetic properties and sizes (dispersity) of foreign particles in the fluid medium being purified, and viscosity of the fluid medium.

    Abstract: A gas-jet ejector has an inlet chamber designed to be connected to an evacuated space, a mixing chamber and a diffuser communicating with a vacuum pump which are all series-arranged in a direction coinciding with the direction of gas flow and in alignment with each other inside a housing. A Laval nozzle connected to the surroundings is contained inside the inlet chamber in alignment therewith. The geometry of the critical section of the Laval nozzle, its outflow section and the inlet and outlet sections of the mixing chamber is conducive to increasing the volumetric flow rate across the outlet section of the diffuser 1.35 to 1.80 times.

    Abstract: The invention consists of a method for absorbing nitrogen oxide and carbon monoxide from tobacco smoke. It includes a base made of acetate, cellulose and acetate-cellulose fibers. The base is impregnated with an absorbing agent, and the absorbing agent may include a complex compound of ferrous iron and thiol-containing low-molecular ligands. A method for impregnating the base of the filter with the absorbing agent comprises immersing the base in an aqueous suspension of a complex compound of ferrous iron and thiol-containing low-molecular ligands and then drying it; or, treating the base with an aqueous solution of a thiol-containing low-molecular ligand, treating the resulting compound with an aqueous solution of ferrous salts and then drying the resulting compound. A composition for absorbing nitrogen oxide and carbon monoxide from smoke comprises a complex compound of ferrous iron and thiol-containing low-molecular ligands.

    Abstract: A quick disconnect coupling for an access valve is disclosed which includes a housing having an independently displaced depressor mounted within the housing, a sliding sleeve mounted on one end of the housing, ball bearings retained in the housing between ball bearing cavities and the sliding sleeve, and locking means preventing the removal of the quick disconnect coupling from the access valve unless the depressor is withdrawn to seal off flow from both the valve and the quick disconnect coupling. The quick disconnect coupling can thus be attached to a valve without establishing communication therethrough or through the quick disconnect coupling until the depressor mounted within the housing is independently moved into contact with the core of the access valve.

    Abstract: A vacuum cleaner bag is described which has a sealing closure device for an inlet opening in a collar of the vacuum cleaner bag. A disc, partially die-cut out of the collar or a separate disc attached to the collar is arranged for hinged movements between a covering position wherein the inlet opening is effectively closed and sealed and and uncovering position wherein the inlet opening is accessible for passage of an inlet fitting of a vacuum cleaner. A locking mechanism is provided for positively locking the hinged cover to disc in its covering position to prevent inadvertent escape of debris from a filled vacuum cleaner bag after removal from the vacuum cleaner. The locking mechanism may consist of a projecting finger on the disc or cover which is forced beyond the inlet opening and snaps behind the collar, or the projecting finger may be secured with any suitable fastener, such as hook and loop tape.
