Abstract: Additional waste heat recovery from a high temperature reaction effluent is effected by cooling the effluent in a shell and tube heat exchanger, having continuous tubes, with the shell being divided into two sections. In the first section, the effluent is cooled by indirect heat transfer with water at a pressure to generate medium pressure steam, and in the second section, the effluent is cooled by water which is at a pressure to generate low pressure steam or a pressure to effect preheating thereof without vaporization. Heat recovery is effected with a minimum pressure drop.

Abstract: Bright zinc plate is obtained from alkaline, cyanide-free zinc plating baths containing at least one linear polyamine obtained by condensing an aliphatic diamine with an aliphatic dihalide. Especially good results are obtained if the bath also contains at least one substituted pyridine compound in the form of a free base or as a quaternised derivative. A brightener composition containing both the linear polyamine and the pyridine compound can be added to alkaline, cyanide-free zinc plating baths.
Abstract: In the production of chlorinated hydrocarbons by contacting a molten salt mixture of the higher and lower chloride of a multivalent metal, such as a mixture of cuprous and cupric chloride, with molecular oxygen to effect oxidation to the oxychloride, followed by use of the oxidized salt for the production of chlorinated hydrocarbons, the quantity of carbon dioxide vented from the system is determined, and oxygen introduction is decreased in response to increases in vented carbon dioxide to decrease oxychloride concentration and limit carbon dioxide production.

Abstract: Bright zinc plate is obtained from alkaline, cyanide-free zinc plating baths containing (a) at least one linear polyamine obtained by condensing an aliphatic diamine containing at least one tertiary amino group with a 1,3-dihalopropan-2-ol, and (b) at least one substituted pyridine compound in the form of a free base or as a quaternized derivative. A brightener composition containing the linear polyamine and the pyridine compound can be added to alkaline, cyanide-free zinc plating baths.
Abstract: Zinc and cadmium are electrodeposited in the presence of the more or less complex mixture present after reacting (a) a compound containing a pyridine nucleus, especially a 3-substituted pyridine and (b) a compound containing an oxirane ring such as an alkylene or arylene oxide, and yield a bright electrodeposit.
Abstract: This invention relates to a disposable respirator mask. The present mask includes a hollow contact rim formed from a plastics blow-moulding which is filled with compressed air.Further, the mask is also foldable for storage purposes.
Abstract: In the production of chlorinated hydrocarbons by the use of molten salts wherein molten salt is oxidized in a first reactor and lifted by lift gas in a first lift gas circuit into a chlorinated hydrocarbon production reactor, with the molten salt withdrawn from the chlorinated hydrocarbon production reactor being lifted by a lift gas in a second lift gas circuit into the oxidation reactor, a single pressurized melt storage tank is connected to the first and second lift gas circuits to provide both control of flow rates and surge capacity.
Abstract: A receptacle for radiographic film material comprising a first fluorescent screen disposed in a first path of movement extending around a first pair of rollers, and a second fluorescent screen disposed in a second path of movement extending around a second pair of rollers, the axes of all rollers being parallel to one another, and said two paths of movement being in part contiguous with each other, wherein at least one screen has a length shorter than the length of its path of movement, and that the screens are capable of being moved by a drive in one direction for receiving film material and in the opposite direction for delivering film material.
Abstract: Pyrolysis gasoline is stabilized by hydrotreating in the presence of a catalyst of cobalt-tungsten sulfide supported on high surface area alumina. Dienes are selectively hydrogenated and mercaptan sulfur is reduced, without production of polymer and the product has an ASTM distillation curve essentially identical to the feed.
Abstract: A nitrogen containing feedstock is hydrodenitrified by passing the feed through at least two hydrodenitrification zones, with ammonia produced in the hydrodenitrification being purged from the system prior to the last hydrodenitrification zone to maintain a low ammonia partial pressure in the last hydrodenitrification zone. The ammonia is preferably purged by stripping ammonia from the liquid portion of the effluent withdrawn from the next to last hydrodenitrification zone. Improved denitrification is obtained by maintaining a low ammonia partial pressure in the last hydrodenitrification zone.

Abstract: In accordance with the teachings of the present invention apparatus for permitting interference free transmission of high frequency signals in any given frequency range is provided. In the inventive apparatus, a central conductor of a coaxially disposed pair of conductors is employed to radiate high frequency signal information and the coaxially disposed pair of conductors is mounted in a parallel manner to the path of a tracked vehicle on a support. The support includes a metallic member disposed along the entire length of the coaxially disposed pair of conductors which is periodically connected to the outer conductor of the coaxially disposed pair of conductors to substantially reduce field strength fluctuations through a suppression of induced secondary waves in the immediate proximity of said central conductor.
Abstract: Water soluble polymers dispersed in a water-in-oil emulsion are treated to reduce the water content thereof to provide a polymer dispersed in oil which is stable to coagulation or agglomeration during subsequent treatment. The composition can be chemically modified and/or made self dissolving in water by addition of surfactant without polymer agglomeration.
Abstract: Filter for cooking oil formed of polyester or polytetrafluoroethylene having specific characteristics. The filter is removably supported on a frame which permits easy replacement of the filter.
