Abstract: A geographical alert system creates an alert for a user-defined geographical area, detects a change to a feature stored in a map-related database, identifies whether the changed feature falls within the user-defined geographical area, and sends a notification to a user when the changed feature of the map-related database falls within the user-defined geographical area. To set up a geographical alert, an alert editor retrieves map data from a map-related database via an alert engine and displays the map data in a visual display to a user. The user then selects a geographical area that the system will automatically monitor for changes. The user may also specify a feature type, and an alert notification type for the alert. The alert engine then processes the user-specified geographical area into geographical area data and stores an alert and its corresponding geographical area data, feature type, and alert notification type in an alert database.

Abstract: The present invention relates to desferoxamine conjugates, derivatives and analogues thereof. In particular, the present invention relates to desferoxamine conjugates, analogues and derivatives thereof, and methods for reducing levels of metals, especially iron, in a mammal. Uses of the compounds according to the invention are also provided. Compounds of the present invention may also be used to treat iron dyshomeostasis disorders, cancer, malaria and fungal infections. The compounds of the invention may be formulated into a pharmaceutical composition or packaged into kits.

Abstract: Polypeptides which comprise a receptor-ligand pair involved in T-cell activation are disclosed. Nucleic acid molecules encoding the polypeptides, and vectors and host cells for expressing the polypeptides are also disclosed. The polypeptides, or agonists and antagonists thereof, are used to treat T-cell mediated disorders.

The medication compliance packaging program facilitates proper dosing of each included medication dispensing each medication in a customized package and thereby serving as a personalized, prepackaged pill organizer. The compliance package groups all of the customer's daily pills, separated by the day and time of day that the customer takes each dose. The disclosed method and system provide a convenient means for a customer to enroll in the program, select prescription medications to include in the medication compliance packaging, and set up a dose schedule for each medication.

Abstract: A method of casting a molten metal into a mould uses an apparatus which has a casting chamber which includes a mould into which molten metal is introduced when the casting chamber is at least partially evacuated, to fill the mould, a tundish connected to the casting chamber, the tundish having an opening in register with an inlet aperture of the casting chamber to provide an inlet flow path for the molten metal from the tundish into the casting chamber, a plug which includes a sealing part of a material with a melting temperature not greater than the temperature of the metal being cast, the method including locating the plug to close the molten metal flow path, at least partially evacuating the casting chamber, pouring a volume of molten metal into the tundish sufficient to provide the casting, whereby at least the sealing part of the plug melts to permit molten metal to flow along the flow path into the casting chamber.

Abstract: A method and device for reprocessing used plastic containers, especially PET bottles, by analyzing the degree of contamination of the plastic, determining the decontamination process parameters as a function of the degree of contamination found in the analyzing step, and conducting a controlled decontamination of the plastic according to the decontamination process parameters thus determined. With this method and this device, it is thus possible to perform the decontamination process step in a controlled manner, yielding a more economical reprocessing method.

Abstract: Method and device for determining a foam density of foam in beverage containers utilizing the Tyndall effect, and having a focused light bundle emitted into the foam by means of a light source, where the light bundle is refracted in the foam and a scattered ray becomes visible on a surface of the foam. Via a measurement of the contour of such a light spot, conclusions on the foam density can be drawn. For this, one or several lasers can be integrated into existing filling level measuring means which are coupled to the already existing measuring means.

The sketch database stores local image samples and corresponding local sketch units in different categories. The generating subsystem extracts geometrical features from an input image, retrieves local image units from the input image according to the geometrical features; as to each local image unit retrieved, searches the sketch database for a local sketch unit corresponding to a local image sample having a largest similarity value with the local image unit, and combines all local sketch units found to form one sketch.

Abstract: A digital filter design algorithm is implemented directly within a process control field device or other process related equipment. Filter design parameters are exposed so that filter design parameter values may be provided to the digital filter design algorithm so that the digital filter design algorithm may calculate digital filter coefficients for a digital filter having desired frequency response characteristics. The digital filter design parameter values may be provided by a user, or may be provided as process variable data output from a process control field device or other process related equipment. Once the coefficients of the digital filter having the desired frequency response characteristics have been calculated, the digital filter may be applied to process variable data received by the process control field device or other process related equipment.

Abstract: A clamp grip for a container transport system including rare earth permanent magnets encapsulated in non-magnetic material such as high quality steel. Flexible positioning of the magnets allow for adapting to varied design specifications. A rotatable control cam or cams may be used to adjust grip arms between a grip and a release position. Air gap distances between permanent magnets may be designed to maximize repelling force to assist in the functioning of clamp grip mechanism.
