Patent number: 6941354Abstract: There is provided a mobile terminal capable of properly selecting a communication network according to a kind of data targeted for sending and receiving when data is sent and received using a network. A mobile terminal 201 makes access to a WWW server 223 to acquire contents, and uses a packet communication gateway 225 to first acquire HTML data (main data) of the corresponding contents at the time of display. A tag for referring to various files (accompanying data) such as JPEG constructing the contents is embedded in this HTML data. Therefore, the mobile terminal 201 requests sizes of these files to the WWW server 223 by packet communication, and determines whether these files are acquired by packet communication or by line switching from the acquired file size. If these files are acquired by the line switching, the files are acquired from the WWW server 223 by using a line switching gateway 226 and making connection to an Internet network 222 through a public network 228, an Internet provider 229.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 2001Date of Patent: September 6, 2005Assignee: NEC CorporationInventor: Satoshi Odamura

Patent number: 6937417Abstract: A disk drive device in which emergency unloading at the start of the engine is prevented, a head may have a prolonged life and improved reliability as an HDD is achieved. A disk drive device is driven or the movement of a magnetic head is allowed after an engine start in a vehicle is detected by an engine start detecting part, so that emergency unloading can be prevented at the start of the engine. In order to detect the engine start, voltage values on four power supply lines for a vehicle power supply device are monitored or the outputs of various sensors such as a tachometer, a vibration detection sensor, an engine sound detection sensor, a vehicle speed pulse, a gyro sensor and a parking brake are monitored. In another embodiment, the number of emergency unloading occurrence at the start of the engine is reduced, which allows the head to have a prolonged life, so that the disk drive device has improved reliability as an HDD.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 2001Date of Patent: August 30, 2005Assignee: Pioneer CorporationInventors: Koichi Nagaki, Kazunori Matsuo, Keiichi Yamauchi, Michihiro Kaneko, Tomo Watanabe

Patent number: 6938131Abstract: To improve the processing speed in a case where a program requiring memory access serialization is executed in a multiprocessor environment with a load instruction out-of-order execution function. Each of CPUs has the function of performing store forwarding (SF) when the address regions of a pair of store and load instructions coincide with each other. Each CPU stops SF and performs store forwarding avoidance (SFA) when the two address regions do not coincide with each other but have an overlap therebetween. Each of SF and SFA is executed with priority over out-of-order execution. Each CPU performs SFA effective in limiting out-of-order execution with respect to a predetermined store instruction on a program and a load instruction mated to the store instruction and given after the store instruction, and ensures that data relating to the store instruction can be observed from other CPUs.Type: GrantFiled: April 15, 2003Date of Patent: August 30, 2005Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventor: Takeshi Ogasawara

Patent number: 6937642Abstract: A common pilot channel-use reverse diffusion unit generates common pilot data using a received digital signal and a common pilot channel-use reverse diffusion code, while an individual channel-use reverse diffusion unit generates individual channel data using the received digital signal and an individual channel-use reverse diffusion code. Power calculating unit converts respective output data items of the common pilot channel-use reverse diffusion unit and the individual channel-use reverse diffusion unit into power values, a larger one of which is then determined by a comparator. A selector unit selects the data item having thus determined larger power value of those output data items of those reverse diffusion units. A channel estimating unit estimates the channel using data symbols of the data item thus selected by the selector unit.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 2001Date of Patent: August 30, 2005Assignee: NEC CorporationInventor: Masaru Hirata

Patent number: 6938178Abstract: A terminal device such as a mobile terminal is provided with two real-time clocks which are powered by different power sources: a first real-time clock which is built in a control section (built-in microcomputer 1, for example) of the terminal device; and a second real-time clock which is provided outside the control section. At power-on of the mobile terminal or on recovery from failure such as a power cut, clock/calendar information is read out from the second real-time clock and is set to the first real-time clock, and thereafter, the control section obtains the clock/calendar information from the first real-time clock. The second real-time clock is connected to the control section directly by a signal line or via a functional device, or the second real-time clock is built in a functional device which is connected to the control section. By such composition and operation, the clock/calendar information can be maintained reliably and correctly even if failure occurred to the control section.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 2002Date of Patent: August 30, 2005Assignee: NEC CorporationInventor: Masatoshi Yano

Patent number: 6933241Abstract: A semiconductor film serving as an active region of a thin film transistor and an upper oxide film protecting the semiconductor film are dry etched to form the active region. In this case, a fluorine-based gas is used as the etching gas, and the etching gas is switched from the fluorine-based gas to a chlorine-based gas at a point of time when a lower oxide film as an underlying film of the semiconductor film is exposed. As the fluorine-based gas, a mixed gas of CF4 and O2 is used, and suitably, a gas ratio of CF4 and O2 in the mixture gas is set at 1:1, and the dry etching is performed therefor. By this etching, a side face of a two-layer structure of the semiconductor film and upper oxide film is optimally tapered, and a crack or a disconnection is prevented from being occurring in a film crossing over the two-layer structure.Type: GrantFiled: May 29, 2003Date of Patent: August 23, 2005Assignee: NEC CorporationInventors: Hitoshi Shiraishi, Kenichi Hayashi, Naoto Hirano, Atsushi Yamamoto
