Patent number: 4359749Abstract: A recording medium of the type having a first coat which is discolorable by the limited application of heat in a limited area includes a second coat of a material having heat-conducting and electrically insulating properties applied on the first coat and a third coat of a material which is electrically conductive applied on the second coat. The third coat is removable in a limited area by the action of an electric arc which is limited in time and area. A record is made on the recording medium by a technique which includes the steps of igniting an electric arc between the third coat and an electrode, maintaining the electric arc until an opening is formed in a portion of the third coat corresponding to the shape of the electrode, and heating the second coat through the opening to an extent that the amount of heat passing into the first coat from the second coat adjacent the opening causes permanent discoloration of the first coat.Type: GrantFiled: January 16, 1981Date of Patent: November 16, 1982Assignee: Licentia Patent-Verwaltungs-GmbHInventor: Manfred Schiekel

Patent number: 4219864Abstract: A device for moistening and discharging electrically insulating objects, comprises, an atomizer for atomizing a liquid, such as water, into a spray and for directing the spray through a path and onto the object. The spray is directed through a path which is provided with an electrode charger or a group of chargers arranged in a pattern for charging the spray particles with a charge opposite to the object so that when they contact the object, they discharge the object as well as moisten it. The device is usable in the printing industry by passing a paper web which has been either previously printed or will be printed through a path after it has been charged with a charge, such as a positive charge, and then directing a spray onto the web after the spray moves through a series of electrodes to impart an opposite charge to the spray particles from that of the paper, so that the particles both moisten the paper and discharge the charge therefrom when they are directed thereto.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 1978Date of Patent: August 26, 1980Assignee: Eltex-Elektronik H.
