Abstract: A blowing device for the elimination of compactions in bulk material storage silos by using air blasts, includes a compressed air storage container, a compressed air supply duct, a compressed air outflow duct and an interposed rapid exit valve. The rapid exit valve has a conduit in which a valve closure is guided whereby the conduit turns into the compressed air supply duct forming an afflux cross-section for the valve piston over a miter cut or tube turn. The afflux cross-section is selected to be significantly greater than the outflow cross-section in the compressed air outflow duct. In this way, the flow losses, and pressure losses, otherwise customary are considerably reduced, so that extremely high flow velocities can be achieved in the compressed air outflow duct until the velocity of sound is reached. The result is a rapid impulse-like discharge of the compressed air storage container and, consequently, faultless elimination of possible compactions.

Abstract: Diborane is detected in air with high sensitivity (ppb range) and selectivity. The invention is thus suitable for the monitoring of work places and rooms, the emission of plants, etc. The detection is based on an aerosol ionization gas analysis. In addition to an amine, a reagent which does not react with amine is added to the air stream and reacts with the diborane to form a compound which forms aerosols with the amine. The aerosols obtained by this reaction constitute the main measuring effect. When using SO.sub.2 in concentration.gtoreq.3.5 ppm, disturbances due to the SO.sub.2 content of the air are eliminated.

Abstract: A solid state cell for measuring the activity of a component of a mixture using a solid ionic conductor, which is in contact on one side with a reference phase and on the other side with a phase sensitive to the gas component to be determined, is to be improved in such a manner that its detection sensitivity and measuring stability are increased. For this purpose, the gas sensitive phase contains an addition of a substance that increases the electronic conductivity and does not chemically react with the components of the sensitive phase and the gas to be determined.

Abstract: A combination needle for the axillary plexus brachialis anesthesia comprises a plastic tube and a solid steel mandrel that can be inserted in this plastic tube. The mandrel has a puncturing tip without any facets or cutting edges, which is formed either by a level partially ground surface extending at an angle to the mandrel axis that is elliptical in form and forms a wedge angle of at least 45.degree. with the mandrel axis, or by a right or oblique cone with right or bulging mantle surface and with a cone angle of at least 60.degree.. The handle of the steel mandrel is equipped with partially a ground surface and has, on one side surface, a visible and palpable mark with a fixed angular location corresponding to the angular location of a partially ground surface of the tip, so that it can be used to determine the angular location of the partially ground surface accurately, at all times.
Abstract: A face driver for centering and driving a workpiece to be chucked in a lathe comprises a support provided with a dead center member and several driving pins around the dead center member so as to be movable and pressable against the workpiece by a compression member acting against a pressure plate, the pressure plate is retained so as to be floating in the axial directions of the support, and it has parts or arms associated with the driving pins which are elastically deformable. This causes squareness errors of the workpiece to be chucked to be compensated for automatically at low structural cost.
Abstract: A pump lever for a jack includes a handle sleeve adapted to receive a handle and be connected to a piston of a fluid pump for the jack and a limiting piece secured to a base on the jack and for guiding the handle sleeve to be raised and lowered and confining a safe range within which the handle sleeve can be raised and lowered without damaging the piston.
Abstract: A dye composition prepared by polymerizing an unsaturated monomer in the presence of a quinoneimine dye and an azo initiator in amounts expressed by x.gtoreq.5 and y.gtoreq.0.33x.sup.1.2 wherein x is the amount of the quinoneimine dye in % by weight based on the unsaturated monomer, and y is the amount of the azo initiator in % by weight based on the unsaturated monomer. The composition is useful for preparing toners for developing electrostatic images because of its outstanding charge control effect and also for preparing electrostatic coating powder compositions.

Abstract: A device for coupling carriers comprises a housing adapted to be mounted on the carrier and having a face with an opening forming a coupling trap. A flexible cable has one end secured to the housing and an opposite end extending out of the housing which has a plug thereon which is engageable in the coupling trap of an adjacent carrier. The housing also carries a releasable lock which is engageable with the plug to hold it in the trap when it is inserted therein. The device operates electrically under the control of a coin which passes through a coin chute in the housing and actuates an electrical switch which has an actuator portion in the chute. The switch is connected to the lock and it releases the lock and traps the coin in the chute so as to permit release of the plug from the trap and use of the carrier. When the carrier is returned and the plug is again inserted into the trap, the coin is released.
Abstract: A rope pulling machine is convertible into a walking machine, and has a machine frame composed of a pulling station movable back and forth and a gripping station connected to the pulling station via a main cylinder/piston arrangement, the pulling and gripping stations each having an auxiliary cylinder/piston arrangement for a gripper, and the two grippers are linked via bearing shafts to the auxiliary cylinder/piston arrangement. The grippers have clamping jaws aligned in a rope direction and linked via bearing shafts to the pulling and gripping stations, respectively. The bearing shafts are designed as detachable shafts, making the grippers exchangeable with walkers having the same bearing points and bearing shafts and which form a walk station and a slave station. The walkers have pawls engaging a rack alternately, and running gears guided on the rack.
Abstract: A foldable carriage with double lock includes a plurality of members which are pivotally connected to each other and can be folded from an open to a closed position. One of the members includes one pivotally mounted latch which can engage a pin on another one of the members to hold the carriage in its open unfolded position. Another latch with a holding mechanism is engaged between other members to hold the carriage in its open position. To close the carriage, this latch is pivoted and held in an unlocked position by its holding mechanism so that the first latch can be moved to fold the carriage. A multi-purpose plastic bearing block is also used to connect various parts of the frame.
Abstract: An apparatus for letting out skins comprises behind the parting sword a needle bar movable up and down which is movable in addition parallel to the drawoff direction of the skin through a drive mechanism. Together with a supporting plate movable up and down, the needle bar acts on the skin section already let out so that it is held taut and flat.
Abstract: A semiconductor device for converting light into electric energy comprises at least one layer of amorphous silicon with a surface thereof which is intended to be exposed to light covered by a cover layer of polycrystalline silicon. The use of the polycrystalline silicon increases the current yield in the blue light range of the solar spectrum. A method of producing such a semiconductor device is also disclosed.
Abstract: To be able to disengage the contacts of a switch in the event of a breakage of the snap spring or if the contacts become melted together, a pivotable resetting member in the form of a two-armed lever is provided. One arm of the lever is associated with the inside end of an operating plunger, while its other arm is associated with the end of a slide of the switch. While being displaced from its initial position into the switched position, the slide pushes the resetting member and the end of the operating plunger moved thereby away from the respective arm of the resetting member. By pushing the operating plunger against the actuator, the end of the plunger acts against the arm of the resetting member whose pivotal motion then causes the slide to be pushed into its initial position.
Abstract: A method of dry cooling coke using a coke transporting bucket which has a removable cover with an exhaust pipe extending from the interior of the bucket to an exterior exhaust connection and a cooling shaft for the coke comprises directing red hot coke into the bucket, covering the bucket with the cover and transporting the coke to the cooling shaft and connecting the exhaust pipe to the exhaust system while the bucket is in the shaft and emptying the bucket into the cooling shaft. The coke transporting bucket comprises a container having a bottom discharge which is closable by a flap and a removable cover which seats around the rim of the container to seal it. An exhaust pipe is carried by the cover and it extends into the interior thereof for removing gases from within the bucket and delivering them to an exterior connection which is connectable to an exhaust line.
