Abstract: We provide a method of doping an Si or SiGe film with carbon or boron. By reducing the silicon precursor pressure, heavily-doped films may be obtained. A single dopant source may be used. The doped Si and SiGe films are of suitable quality for use in a transistor such as an HBT.

Abstract: Disclosed is an additive composition that can be mixed with various types of basic oils to produce a lubricant that can meet the international standards of manual truck gearbox oils. A preferred embodiment includes various quantities of an isobutylene sulfide, zinc dialklydithiophosate and other components. Component properties of the additive composition are selected to produce a lubricant that has good thermal stability, rust-resisting and endurance qualities and that has a low cost of use and production.
Abstract: According to the present invention there is provided a porous coal-based material having a density of between about 0.1 g/cm3 and about 0.6 g/cm3 that is produced by the controlled heating of small coal particulate in a “mold” and under a non-oxidizing atmosphere. The coal starting material preferably exhibits a free swell index of between about 3.5 and about 5.0 and most preferably between about 4.0 and about 4.5. The porous product thereby produced can be machined, adhered and otherwise fabricated to produce a wide variety of low cost, low density products, or used in its preformed shape as a filter, heat or electrical insulator etc. Such porous products, without further treatment exhibit compressive strengths of up to about 6000 psi. Further treatment by carbonization or graphitization yields products that can be used as electrical or heat conductors. Methods for the production of these coal-based cellular products are also described.
Abstract: This invention relates generally to compositions for whitening human teeth, and more particularly, to compositions that do not contain hydrocarbon humectants and which, when applied onto the surface of teeth, act to whiten without damage to tooth surfaces. It does contain a hydrogel, defined as a gel that does not contain a hydrocarbon humectant. A hydrocarbon humectant is defined as a carbon, hydrogen and oxygen compound which is used to prevent the oral care composition from hardening upon exposure to air or a carbon, hydrogen and oxygen compound which is used as a carrier for ingredients of an oral care composition.
Abstract: A plasma display panel driving method, in which a reset step, an address step, and a display sustaining step are performed on unit subfields, is provided. In the reset step, the charge states of display cells to be driven are uniformed. In the address step, wall charges with a predetermined voltage are formed on only display cells to be turned on. In the display sustaining step, alternating current pulses are applied to all of the display cells, so that only the display cells having the wall charges perform display discharge. In embodiments, the width of AC pulses and portions of the pulses applied to all of the display cells varies in the display sustaining step.
Abstract: There is provided a hand held cursor controller system for use particularly with interactive television and computer presentation graphics. The system uses a hand held device with infrared light emitting diodes which transmits to a detector attached to a processor. The information from the processor is transmitted to a television or video cassette recorder. The system allows for the positioning of a cursor on a television screen with the only input of the user being the aiming of the controller. It includes push-button activation and provides for the transmission of the usual controller codes.

Abstract: In a control valve of the vacuum booster, a valve portion is fitted with a valve cylinder to be slidably contacted with an inner wall of the valve cylinder, to form within said valve cylinder, a front annular chamber closed by a front face of the valve portion when the valve portion is seated on a vacuum introduction valve seat, and a read annular chamber, to which the rear of the valve portion is faced. The front annular chamber communicates with a first port, and the rear annular chamber communicates with a second port. An input rod is moved forward to separate the valve portion from an atmosphere introduction valve seat and to seat it on the vacuum introduction valve seat. Then, the valve portion is urged in accordance with the set load of a valve spring and the pressure difference between the front and rear annular chambers.
Abstract: A thermal protection system (TPS) that combines a structural thermal insulator (carbon foam) with a high specific strength metal matrix composite. According to a specifically preferred embodiment, the structural thermal insulator is overcoated with a protective antioxidant layer or incorporates an antioxidant compound therein.
Abstract: Self-aligning combination of a substrate with a chip is provided, using reverse patterns of raised recesses and raised shapes on the respective substrate and chip surfaces. High-force contact bump production is avoided. Reliable contact between a chip and substrate is achieved, with minimized skewing after chip placement.

Abstract: First, a conductive material of aluminum-based material is deposited and patterned to form a gate wire including a gate line, a gate pad, and a gate electrode. A gate insulating layer is formed by depositing nitride silicon in the range of more than 300° C. for 5 minutes, and a semiconductor layer an ohmic contact layer are sequentially formed. Next, a conductor layer of a metal such as Cr is deposited and patterned to form a data wire include a data line intersecting the gate line, a source electrode, a drain electrode and a data pad. Then, a passivation layer is deposited and patterned to form contact holes exposing the drain electrode, the gate pad and the data pad. Next, indium zinc oxide is deposited and patterned to form a pixel electrode, a redundant gate pad and a redundant data pad respectively connected to the drain electrode, the gate pad and the data pad.
