Abstract: The present invention is an automated and extensible system for the analysis and retrieval of images based on region-of-interest (ROI) analysis of one or more true objects depicted by an image. The system uses a Regions Of Interest (ROI) database that is a relational or analytical database containing searchable vectors that represent the images stored in a repository. Entries in the ROI database are created by an image locator and ROI classifier that work in tandem to locate images within the repository and extract the relevant information that will be stored in the ROI database. Unlike existing region-of-interest search systems, the ROI classifier analyzes objects in an image to arrive at the actual features of the true object, instead of merely describing the features of the image of that object. Graphical searches are performed by the collaborative workings of an image retrieval module, an image search requestor and an ROI query module.

A workover rope is fixed to the driving and braking device, and has another end which is fixed to the supporting platform after it has wound around a fixed pulley block and a movable pulley block. An elevator is coupled with a lower end of the movable pulley block.
Abstract: An electric steering lock capable of outputting a signal correctly indicating an operation state of a steering lock mechanism even when the operation voltage of a lock detector decreases. The electric steering lock includes a CPU, a signal hold circuit, and an OR circuit. When the steering lock mechanism unlocks a steering wheel, an unlock sensor provides an H level detection signal to the CPU and the signal hold circuit. In response to the detection signal, the CPU issues a state hold command to the signal hold circuit. In response to the state hold command, the signal hold circuit generates an H level hold signal in correspondence with the detection signal. The OR circuit provides an H level signal to an immobilizer ECU when at least one of the detection signal from the unlock sensor or the hold signal has an H level.
Abstract: The invention relates to a microscope having an optics system which represents an object on an image sensor and a screen that shows the image data provided by the image sensor and which is the only output medium for visually observing the object, wherein the representation capability of the optics system and the resolution (A) of the image sensor complies with the following correlation: F×N/M=0.5 A, wherein F indicates a factor, N indicates the numerical aperture of the optics systems, M is the magnification factor and A indicates the resolution of the image sensor in pixels per millimeter.
Abstract: The invention relates to a gas analysis based on the mobility of ions. The invention relates to a cell structure of an analysis device, the cell structure comprising the reference cell (201), the ionisation section (202) and the analysis cell (203) for identifying the electric mobility of ions. The invention also relates to a method for identifying the ions. Further, the invention relates to a system for identifying the ions.
Abstract: A clip having structure for detachably interlocking with another clip having substantially equivalent structure. The clip of this invention can be used to secure items, such as gloves, to garments being worn by a user. The instant clips may be made from a resilient material and include a base structure defining an aperture and a gap, which enable the detachable interlinking. One of the clips includes generally opposed arms in mechanical communication with jaw members biased in a contacting relation. The jaw members are forced apart by the user applying opposing forces to each of the arms. The jaw members operably grasp the article when the arms are released.
Abstract: An instrument for studying an object (12) comprising a movable interferometer having a laser source and a plurality of detectors (24) arranged in an array. The laser source is expanded and arranged to direct a converging object beam (21) towards a point (22) or line beyond the object (12) whereby a speckle pattern of light reflected from the object (12) is detected by the detector or detector array (24). The point (12) or line at which the laser source is arranged to converge the object beam (21) is approximately the same distance beyond the object (12) as the object is spaced from the source. The speed of movement of the instrument, the sampling rate of the detectors (24) and size of the area (23) of the object illuminated by the converging laser object beam (21) are arranged so that sequential areas (23) of the object (12) studied overlap.

Abstract: A vertical tail unit for an aircraft and an aircraft equipped with the vertical tail unit. The vertical tail unit is provided with an engine. The engine extends cantilevered beyond a fin of the vertical tail unit and is secured to the fin by a mount. The mount is at least partly attached to the fin. The mount comprises for example half-hoops arranged on either side of the fin.
Abstract: An aircraft seat assembly comprises a continuous row of a plurality of seats including a convertible aisle seat at one end of the row and one or more other seats. The seats are moveable between (i) a first configuration in which all of the seats are positioned in a useable position and a second configuration in which (a) the convertible seat is positioned in an unusable position in the row, (b) said one or more other seats are positioned in a useable position, and (c) the row of seats has a length, along the row, that is less than the length of the row in the first configuration for example by a distance of more than half the width of the convertible seat in the first configuration. The width of said one or more other seats may remain unchanged as between the first and second configurations.
Abstract: A phase control circuit includes a signal generator sub-circuit that generates a set of phase reference signals having phase angles generally distributed over a phase angle adjustment range. A controller sub-circuit produces weighting signals that assign relative priority for each of the phase reference signals, and includes at least one incremental adjustment input. The controller sub-circuit is adapted to maintain the weighting signals in a generally steady state when receiving signaling on the adjustment input that represents no adjustment, and to adjust relative intensities of the weighting signals based on stimulation of the adjustment input. The phase control circuit further includes a mixer sub-circuit that is coupled to the set of phase reference signals and to weighting signals that collectively control a mix of the phase reference signals. The mixer sub-circuit is adapted to produce an output signal having a phase angle that is based on the mix of the phase reference signals.
Abstract: The load on an aircraft component, such as the load on a landing gear leg during braking, is measured with a contactless, all-weather displacement measuring system. The system includes a control unit a controllable microwave emitter of electromagnetic radiation and a microwave detector comprising a plurality of antennae. When the aircraft component is subjected to a load relative movement of the emitter and detector is caused. The detector generates in response to microwave radiation received from the focused beam of radiation emitted by the emitter a signal that is received by a signal processor of the control unit. The signal received by the control unit depends on the relative positions of the emitter and detector. The control unit is arranged to provide an output signal representative of the load sustained by the aircraft component. The system may be used to control braking in dependence on the output signal so as to maximize braking efficiency without overloading the landing gear leg.
