  • Patent number: 6198426
Abstract: The present position of a previously recognized stationary object group (SOp) is estimated based on past position data and the movement of the traveling vehicle during a past time (&Dgr;T). A clearance (Mwr, Mwl) between a traveling vehicle (Mx) and an adjacent stationary object group (Mxr, Mxl) is obtained based on the estimated position data. A clearance (Twr, Twl) between a preceding vehicle (Tx) and an adjacent stationary object group (Txr, Txl) is obtained based on the estimated position data and the position data of the preceding vehicle. A same lane judgement is performed to judge whether the traveling vehicle (VM) and the preceding vehicle (VT) are traveling on a same traffic lane based on at least one of the detected clearances (Mwr, Mwl, Twr, Twl).

  • Patent number: 6198874
Abstract: Data on multiple stories or scenes are recorded on a recording medium so as to reduce the physical distance moved by a pickup at playback time and to suppress breaks or disturbances in reproduced video. A multi-scene program having a plurality of optionally selectable branch stories B0, B1, B2, B3, etc., is recorded between a branch point X and a connection point Y. The preceding main story of a video program, made up of video, sound, text and the like, branches off at branch point X to the branch stories, and at connection point Y connects to the succeeding main story in the video program. The recorded state between the branch point X and the connection point Y is such that the branch stories are each divided into multiple cells and the cells of the respective branch stories are recorded time-division multiplexed.

  • Patent number: 6198190
Abstract: The present invention provides a compact, efficient and noiseless alternator for an automotive vehicle which employs a double-layer coil arrangement in a slot for eliminating coil end interference as well as improving the space factor. An automotive alternator comprises a Lundel-type core rotor with 16 poles, and a stator with toothed portions of 96 poles spaced by slots. U-shaped conductor segments are installed in the slots. One portion of the conductor is accommodated in an outer layer portion of a predetermined slot, while the other portion is accommodated in an inner layer portion of a slot phase shifted by an electric angle of 180°. In this manner, all of the slots are separated into the inner and outer layers to accommodate a plurality of conductor segments. • Patent number: 6195019
Abstract: A class of a vehicle (VHC) is judged from distance data obtained by scanning on a lane with at least a laser beam in the longitudinal direction LD of the lane, wherein the scanning line may be inclined. Distance data may be further obtained in the width direction to provide more accurate judgement. The LD measurement unit may be swinged with the VHC position in the width direction. The outline of the VHC is detected by obtaining characteristic points from the distance data. The number of axles may be detected by slantwise scanning from an upper right or left position above the lane. Successive partial distance images with offsets can be combined to provide combined outline of the VHC to detect the class. A communication (COMM) unit may be provided to receive ID data, class data of VHC, owner data from the removable VHC COMM unit mounted on the VHC.

  • Patent number: 6194996
Abstract: A signal superposing apparatus designed, in accordance with a basic power line model taking account of the term of the mutual inductance and that of a self inductance of a transformer connected to AC power lines, with the circuit constants of capacitors selected appropriately to minimize the distortion of information waveform by the effect of the impedance of the transformer, will permit any desired waveform to be superposed over power signals with its distortion being kept to the minimum. In this way, for example a stepwise pulse waveform can be superposed over power signals with the distortion of waveform being minimized, and accordingly CDMA is made possible in a power line carrier system whereby information signals are communicated with power signals on AC power lines being used as carrier wave.

  • Patent number: 6195779
Abstract: To provide a microprocessor that can perform high-speed CRC code generation and can be implemented simply and at a low cost, a microprocessor has, at a part of a data input path to a shift circuit which is conventionally installed in an ALU of the microprocessor to execute shift commands, one bit of data that corresponds to the path, an exclusive OR circuit, which computes the exclusive OR of an uppermost bit of byte data and a bit data, is provided. For this circuit, a result according to a generating polynomial such as [X8+X4+X3+X2+1] is determined on the basis of the installation location of the exclusive OR circuit along the path, and by setting an initial value to the byte data, inputting one bit of the transmission data sequentially to the bit data and operating the shift circuit, a computed result for the CRC code is derived. Consequently, for the microprocessor, the CRC code can be generated at a high speed using the computation commands of the CRC code section.
