  • Patent number: 6191942
Abstract: A portable computer can detachably receive a loudspeaker module which includes front and rear walls, a guided wall interposed therebetween, a loudspeaker unit disposed therein, and a connecting member disposed to extend rearwardly and outwardly of the rear wall and connected electrically to the loudspeaker unit. The portable computer includes a mainframe module having upper and lower major walls, a keyboard disposed in the upper major wall, first and second side walls respectively interposed between the upper and lower major walls, a guiding wall, and a mating connecting member. The first side wall defines a receiving cavity extending towards the second side wall and terminating at an inner abutment wall which is spaced apart from the first side wall. The guiding wall is disposed to bound the receiving cavity, and guides slidably the guided wall so as to bring the rear wall towards the inner abutment wall.

  • Patent number: 6190098
Abstract: A numerical control system for a machine tool comprises a feed speed setting unit, which outputs a signal of a set feed speed of the machine tool, and a feed speed overriding unit, which outputs a signal of a feed speed overriding according to an input of the feed speed overriding. An interpolation unit connects to the feed speed setting unit and the feed speed overriding unit. The interpolation unit determines a command signal of the feed speed of the machine tool by performing interpolation calculations according to he signal of the set feed speed unit and the signal of the feed speed overriding unit. Based upon its calculations, the interpolation unit outputs a target position of each spindle at each sampling time.

  • Patent number: 6191841
Abstract: A peripheral region of an array substrate is coated with a sealing agent in a manner to surround a display region, followed by arranging an opposite substrate to face the array substrate with a predetermined gap defined therebetween. Then, the sealing agent is heated for the curing while pressurizing the array substrate and the opposite substrate so as to seal these two substrates. After the sealing step, a liquid crystal composition is injected into the clearance between the array substrate and the opposite substrate through a liquid crystal injecting port formed in the sealing agent. The sealing agent should maintain a viscosity of at least 110 poises during the curing step of the sealing agent. The viscosity of the sealing agent, which is provided by a resin composition, is controlled by, for example, using a main component resin having a high molecular weight, a solvent having a low boiling point, and a curing agent that is liquid at room temperature.

  • Patent number: 6191938
Abstract: An electronic apparatus is provided with a base unit and a display unit. The base unit has an opening formed on the upper surface. The display unit incorporates a display device and supported by the base unit. The display unit is rotatable between a first position where it is tilted down in such a manner as to cover the upper surface of the base unit and a second position where it is raised in such a manner as to expose the upper surface. The display unit includes a projection portion which is inserted into the opening when the display unit is rotated to the first position. A switch for turning the display device on or off is arranged inside the base unit. The switch includes an operation element opposed to the opening of the base unit. When the display unit is rotated to the first position, the operation element is pushed by the projection portion, thereby turning off the display device.

  • Patent number: 6191436
Abstract: A LED has a thin highly resistive or insulative layer formed below an electrode pad in order to divert current flow from the region below an electrode pad, which region does not contribute to light emission, to another region which does. Consequently, better current efficiency is obtained. Further, diverting current flow from the region below the electrode pad where mechanical damages are expected deters deterioration of the region. Consequently, the LED lasts longer and is a better quality product.
