  • Patent number: 8220830
Abstract: In a knee protecting airbag device (M1), an airbag (26) folded and housed below a steering column (3) is expanded and inflated while rising from the lower side of the steering column (3) along a column cover lower surface (9a) during an inflation process. The shape of the airbag having completed the inflation is in a generally plate shape capable of covering at least the lower surface of the column cover. Even if the knee of the driver comes close to the column cover when the driver depressing a brake pedal, therefore, the airbag being expanded and inflated goes smoothly into the clearance between the knee of the driver and the column cover lower surface. The airbag having completed the expansion and inflation protects the knee of the driver properly so that the knee may not interfere with the column cover.

  • Patent number: 8224546
Abstract: A second threshold value which is smaller than a first threshold value is set as a threshold value for starting pressure decrease control of a wheel on a high ? road surface side when a select low control is employed. Then, if a slip ratio of the wheel on the high ? road surface side exceeds the second threshold value, a pressure decrease control in ABS control is started even if the slip ratio of a wheel on a low ? road surface side does not exceed the first threshold value. Accordingly, it is possible to prevent the vehicle running state from becoming unstable due to the wheel speed of the wheel on the high ? road surface side from decreasing with respect to the vehicle speed.

  • Patent number: 8216371
Abstract: A Czochralski single crystal manufacturing apparatus uses multiple heaters to improve the controllability of crystal diameter. The power supplied to the multiple heaters is controlled so as to bring the pulling up speed close to a predetermined speed set value, and so as to bring the heater temperatures close to predetermined target temperature values. The ratio of electrical power between the heaters is controlled to agree with a predetermined power ratio set value which varies according to the crystal pulling up length, and the heater temperatures change along with this change, which causes disturbance to the diameter control. To compensate for this, heater temperature changes along with the power ratio set value change are taken into account in advance in the temperature set values. Accordingly, along with change of the power ratio set value, the temperature set values change to values appropriate for the current power ratio set value.

  • Patent number: 8219935
Abstract: A method provides information about stations in an irrigation system which are simultaneously active. An irrigation flow curve image is displayed which summarizes flow information for an irrigation system. The method interacts with a user to receive an indication from a user interface pointing device of a position within a flow curve area of the irrigation flow curve image on the display. The method retrieves detail information for stations in the irrigation system which are simultaneously active at a time indicated by the position of the user interface pointing device. Detail information is displayed isolating the stations in the irrigation system which are simultaneously active at the time indicated by the position of the user interface pointing device, wherein the detail information further individually indicates irrigation activity for stations which are simultaneously active at the time indicated by the position of the user interface pointing device.

  • Patent number: 8219081
Abstract: A wireless communication unit performs wireless communication with a network of a carrier and receives a roaming list transmitted from the network. A control unit causes a storing unit to store the transmitted roaming list. The control unit sets the stored roaming list to be workable when completing updating of the roaming list and traces a communicable wireless communication system using the workable roaming list. The control unit causes the wireless communication unit to transmit an update request to the network when reception of the transmitted latest roaming list is unsuccessful in the course of the reception and when a predetermined condition is satisfied. The network transmits a latest roaming list to the wireless communication unit in response to reception of the update request.

  • Patent number: 8218832
Abstract: An apparatus for detecting a gaze direction of a driver is mounted on an automotive vehicle. An image of the driver's face on which infrared rays are incident is reflected on a windshield, and the reflected image is fed into a camera. An outside view entering through the windshield may be subtracted from the image of the driver's face taken into the camera to obtain a clearer image of the driver's face. A gaze direction of the driver is detected by a known method (refer to the Specification) based on the image taken by the camera. A mirror for further reflecting the image reflected on the windshield may be added to the apparatus to position the camera freely in the vehicle. A band-pass filter for allowing only the infrared rays to pass through may be disposed before the camera to suppress an image of outside view entering through the windshield. The gaze direction of the driver is correctly detected without placing the camera in a direct front of the driver.

  • Patent number: 8217603
Abstract: A motor driving apparatus has a loss-of-synchronism monitoring circuit that monitors the rotation of a rotary machine such as a brushless DC motor to detect a sign of transition to a state of loss of synchronism. When the sign is detected, an energization control circuit temporarily stops driving of the rotary machine to bring it into a free running state, and thereafter carries out control so as to resume driving of the rotary machine. Further, the motor driving apparatus has an inverter and a drive control circuit that controls switching operation of the inverter based on rotation of the rotary machine.
