  • Patent number: 7143071
Abstract: A method for changing the CPU frequency under control of a neural network. The neural network has m basis functions and n basis points that are connected together. Using the learning capability of the neural network to deduce basis weights based on dummy environmental parameters and a dummy output vector. In an application procedure, environmental parameters are input to the basis points and basis vectors are calculated based on the basis functions. Integrating the multiplication of each basis vector and its corresponding basis weight, an output vector can be generated to determine a control signal so that the CPU can be controlled to raise or lower its operating frequency. In addition, if the user has to change the parameters due to behavior, a fast learning function of a radial neural network can be used for complying with each user's behavior.

  • Patent number: 7141222
Abstract: A turbine-boosted photocatalysis fluid processor that makes the fluid that flows inside form a high-speed whirlpool so as to enhance both the sterilization effect of the ultraviolet-radiation and the photocatalysis effect. The high-speed whirlpool also improves the degradation of organic contaminants and reduces the frequency maintenance of the quartz sleeve. The ultraviolet-radiation indicator and the color scale with different shades of colors positioned together are convenient for users to measure the intensity of the ultraviolet-radiation so as to avoid the loss of effectiveness of the photocatalysis fluid processor caused by aging or damage of the ultraviolet-radiation lamp.

  • Patent number: 7139584
Abstract: An apparatus for mobile positioning and a method therefor are disclosed for determining the location of a mobile unit in a wireless communication system. First, an angle of arrival of a wireless signal transmitted by a mobile unit and being incident on a base station is determined by using an arrival angle estimator including a switched cross-correlator, an accumulator, and a phase detector. Next, the distance between the mobile unit and the base station is estimated according to timing information provided by the base station, such as timing-advance parameter of global system for mobile communications. The mobile unit is then positioned according to the angle of arrival and the distance between the base station and the mobile unit. Mobile positioning can be achieved according to the invention, using one base station without substantially modifying the existing base stations. In addition, the performance of positioning can be significantly improved.

  • Patent number: 7137036
Abstract: A microcontroller including a CPU (Central Processor Unit) is capable of detecting the error of its structural part. The CPU executes a first initialization phase in response to a power-on reset signal output from a power-on reset circuit, then executes a second initialization phase in response to a start signal, and then executes usual processing. The CPU outputs a single timer run signal during first initialization phase and repeatedly outputs the timer run signals during usual processing. A watchdog timer starts timing in response to the timer run signal and then outputs an overflow signal on the elapse of a preselected period of time. After receiving the power-on reset signal from the power-on reset circuit, an error detector feeds the CPU with the start signal in response to an overflow signal output from the watchdog timer for the first time.
