Abstract: A master disk has an aspect ratio of a width of a groove to a depth thereof to facilitate embedding of a soft magnetic film in the groove for stabilizing magnetic printability. The master disk has at least two differently shaped grooves, in each of which the width of the groove is equal to the width in the sector direction of a servo pattern and the depth is varied. A servo pattern has a width equal to a width of the groove in the sector direction, with the depth of the groove being proportional to the servo pattern width. At least two depths of grooves are provided for embedding magnetic materials on a substrate of the master disk. The depth of the groove for embedding the soft magnetic film is made shallow in a region where the pattern width of the servo pattern is narrow and made deep in a region where the pattern width is wide.
Abstract: A method for fabricating fiber Bragg gratings including: scanning a photosensitive optical fiber with ultraviolet laser light in a longitudinal direction of the optical fiber by means of a phase mask method, thereby forming periodic refractive index modulation structure in a core of the optical fiber in the longitudinal direction; and instantaneously moving a phase mask used in the phase mask method by a predetermined distance in the longitudinal direction, thereby forming a phase shift portion in the periodic refractive index modulation structure formed in the core of the optical fiber, when a radiation position of the ultraviolet laser light reaches a predetermined position, in the middle of the scanning step using the ultraviolet laser light.
Abstract: A connector, for example an LGA connector to be used in coupling a circuit board to a chip or a multi-chip module, includes an insulating carrier with a through-holes corresponding to the connections to be made above and below the carrier, and contacts in the through-holes. The contacts include wadded-wire wads that protrude above and below the carrier to make contact with the chip or circuit board, but each also includes a solid conductive member that extends over a major portion of the length of the through-hole and is in electro-mechanical connection with the wadded-wire wad or wads in the hole at numerous points along the length of the through-hole. The solid conductive member includes barbs or projections that penetrate the wadded wire. The solid conductive members thus provide a low-resistance parallel path and can also hold the wadded-wire wad or wads in place. A method of making and system are also disclosed.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method for eliminating a musical tone from becoming a wind shear sound, which is used for the music recording file played in the GSM mobile communication system, such as the personal ring back tone. The method is to judge a portion of the music recording file where the music tone is erroneously judged as a background music, and add a small section of silence in front of the portion, so that the GSM mobile communication system would not judge the portion of the music tone as the background music so as to effectively eliminate the generation of the wind shear sound.
Abstract: A wireless transmission module comprises: a first transceiver used to broadcast and to receive signals in a first frequency band; a second transceiver used to broadcast and to receive signals in a second frequency band; a switching circuit used to provide a single path of transmission and to control the its switches between the first transceiver and the second transceiver; and a processing unit used to control the switching circuit to switch the path of transmission from the first transceiver to the second transceiver when using the first frequency band of signal to communicate with a wireless device is not possible.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for estimating the angle-of-arrival. The apparatus includes a de-spreading unit, a multipath suppressor, an AOA estimator. The de-spreading unit receives and de-spreads the first and the second spread signals, and outputs the first and the second despread signals. The multipath suppressor receives the first and the second despread signals, suppresses the multipath effects and accordingly outputs the first and the second de-noise signals. The AOA estimator receives the first and the second de-noise signals and outputs the angle-of-arrival accordingly.
Abstract: A focusing module for scanners includes a body which holds a lens and a transmission device on one side thereof to move the lens linearly and adjust a desired scanning focal length. Therefore the diaphragm may be enlarged to increase the scanning speed without reducing the depth of field and dropping Modulation Transfer Function, and to achieve a faster scanning speed and a desired scanning quality.
Abstract: A direct backlight module includes a reflective base, a buffer block, a lamp tube and a casing. Two opposite side regions of the reflective base both have two opposite openings located at two ends of each side region separately. The buffer block is disposed on the reflective base and positioned opposite to one of the openings. The lamp tube has two opposite electrodes at two ends of the lamp tube separately, and one of the electrodes is mounted in the buffer block. The casing covers the buffer block and there is an airflow channel formed by the combination of the inner chamber of the casing and the openings when the casing is installed in the reflective base.
Abstract: A variable optical gain control device is capable of amplifying an optical signal while controlling its luminous intensity. The device is made up of optical waveguide paths which are formed on a flat face of a substrate and includes an input directional coupler for combining an input optical signal and a pump laser light; a luminous intensity control portion in the form of a Mach-Zehnder interferometer for controlling the luminous intensity of the optical signal combined with the pump laser light; and an output directional coupler for separating the pump laser light from the resulting optical signal. The luminous intensity control portion is doped with a rare earth element so that the optical signal is amplified by means of the pump laser light, while a heater is applied to one of the optical waveguide paths forming the Mach-Zehnder interferometer to control the luminous intensity of the optical signal.
Abstract: An apparatus for estimating frequency offset of a demodulator is disclosed. An input symbol is regarded as a rotating phasor obtained by consecutive sampling symbols, while the phasor encompasses an argument containing phase rotated by frequency offset and phase difference by modulation polarity. An adaptive judgment circuit encompassing a decision feedback way is employed to de-polarize the phasor, i.e. to move out the argument of modulation. The adaptive judgment circuit includes a decision circuit and a multiplier. The decision circuit of the adaptive judgment circuit receives the phasor fed from the phase-increment extraction circuit to find a de-noise phasor by using the product of the phasor and a de-noise symbol, wherein the de-noise symbol is determined according to an inner product of the phasor and a last summation stored in a summation circuit.
Abstract: An activation device for activating an engine of a power tool includes an activation unit, a clutch unit and a transmission unit, wherein the clutch unit is connected between the activation unit and the transmission unit. The activation unit includes a first spring disk and a second spring disk. When the activation unit rotates clockwise, the transmission unit rotates in the same direction via the clutch unit. When the first spring disk releases the energy to rotate the activation unit counter clockwise, the clutch unit disengages the activation unit from the transmission unit so that the second spring disk rotates the transmission unit to start the engine.
