Abstract: An incremental rotational system for an aluminium dross processing head includes lever means actuated by the head as it rises to rotate the head by a defined amount, no independent drive system being required.
Abstract: A scrap cutting assembly for use in a reciprocating press in which a cutter is carried on a ram which reciprocates with respect to a fixed base to form and cut material passing through the press includes an exit plate mounted on the press base adjacent the material exit point and a shutter spring and backing spring attached to the exit plate. The exit plate has a tapered bottom surface which tapers upwardly toward the ram and the shutter spring and backing spring are attached to and lie along the bottom tapered surface with one end of the shutter spring extending beyond the end of the exit plate and slightly above the top surface thereof so as to support the material as it is fed through the press. The shutter spring is depressed by the cutter as the ram and cutter descend to sever the material.
Abstract: An apparatus for evenly distributing forces around a die mounted to an extruder barrel includes a barrel flange mounted around the extruder barrel, the barrel flange providing a flange sealing face and a first angular cam surface, and a die adapter for carrying the die, the die adapter providing an adapter sealing face that opposes the flange sealing face, and a second angular cam surface. The apparatus further includes a pair of opposed clamshells each with a semi-circle opening and a lock channel facing each other, each lock channel having angled cam surfaces facing the first and second angular cam surfaces.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for forming a cup (10) having a profiled bottom generally includes a draw die (20) disposed at a first level of a double acting press. The draw die (20) cooperates with a draw pad (22) and a cut edge (24) to form and hold a blank (28) formed from a sheet of material (M). A punch assembly (30) is configured to travel through the draw die (20), thereby drawing the blank (28) over the draw die (20) into a cup (60). The punch assembly (30) transports the cup (60) to a second level of the press where it bottoms out on a die core (50) and a ring pad (51). One element of the punch assembly (30) continues to move beyond the second level of the press, thereby drawing a portion of the cup (60) over the die core (50) and profiling the bottom of the cup (60). The profiled cup (10) is then returned to the second level of the press where it is removed from the punch assembly (30) and transferred. The bottom profile insures that the cup will retain its shape during the transfer operation.

Abstract: In a dross press the skim box containing the dross is vibrated to subject the dross to a vibrating motion thereby extracting additional aluminium from the dross.
Abstract: An apparatus and related method for detecting splice gaps and splice overlaps includes a processor having a memory and a plurality of logic tables, wherein the processor is connected to an input/output terminal, a probe, an encoder and a motor which rotates a tire about an axis of rotation. The processor performs several different comparisons upon collected measurement data to reliably ascertain if a sudden change in tire uniformity has occurred. These tests involve comparison of successive data points with one another to determine whether an unacceptable rate of change in the tire uniformity has occurred. If an unacceptable rate of change has occurred, the processor provides such an indication to the input/output terminal.
Abstract: An endless conveyor belt for moving and transferring articles includes a series of through apertures which have a stepped configuration either created by cutting the aperture to a first size for a portion of its depth and a different size for the remainder thereof or by providing inserts for the apertures which have a stepped configuration. The belt may be driven by a rotating drum and supported by at least one leaf spring disposed in opposed relationship with the drum and adjustable toward and away from the drum to adjust tension on the belt. The belt may also be supported by a series of spring loaded plates which can be adjusted to vary the elevation of the belt.
Abstract: A urinal screen having a generally triangular planar configuration includes one or more through openings between its top and bottom surfaces. The screen is composed of a liquid soluble material and includes a deodorant which is released as the screen dissolves. Another embodiment of the invention includes contoured top and bottom surfaces tapering away from the center of the screen and downwardly toward its periphery. The soluble material may also include a fragrance and a detergent. A further embodiment includes a raised locating boss on the bottom surface for cooperation with the urinal drain. Still further, the screen may be packaged in a liquid soluble film.
Abstract: A cooling system for an aluminum dross press head includes an air inlet means allowing air to be drawn into the press head and a hollow actuating rod connected to the press head which extracts air from the press bead.
Abstract: A rocker arm assembly includes a stamped body comprising elongate, spaced plates with a pushrod engaging block at one end and a valve stem engaging roller at the other. A stud mounting block is located at about the midpoint of the body between the two ends. The pushrod engagement block has an off-center rod engaging recess so that it can be reversed to alter the operating ratio of the arm. The block also has an internal network of bores to facilitate reception of lubricant from the pushrod to flow into and through the block. The stud mounting block is bored so as to provide for the body of the rocker arm to be pivotally mounted on the stud, thereby reducing friction and heat buildup during operation.
Abstract: A cutter assembly for severing pieces from a length of material and advanced into proximity thereto includes a driven anvil roll and a driven rotary cutter roll disposed in opposed relation with each whereby the length of material is advanced between the rolls for cutting. The cutter roll carries at least one knife blade on its periphery to cut the material against the anvil roll into predetermined lengths as it is advanced between the rolls. The at least one knife of the cutter roll is mounted at an angle with respect to the longitudinal axis of the cutter roll so as to engage the material in a shearing motion and the cutter roll is attached to the anvil roll and mounted so as to be movable away from the anvil roll against the force of resilient means as the knife contacts the anvil roll during rotation. The degree of such movement may be adjusted by the use of shims removably placed between the resilient means and the mounting point of the cutter roll.
Abstract: A dross press is enclosed within a cabinet which is normally maintained at a negative pressure relative to ambient air pressure. The cabinet is provided with locked doors to prevent egress of explosive gases or pieces of metal. The cabinet is also equipped with safety vents at a high level to prevent destruction of the cabinet by internal explosions. The cabinet also is provided with a fan for extracting fumes therefrom. The fan is connected to a purifier to treat the extracted fumes and air inlet holes in the press head so that the fan may draw air through the head for cooling.
Abstract: A cord holding harness includes a suspender-like strap arrangement fitting over the upper torso of the user and has a sleeve attached to one of the straps carrying a hook for engaging the cord of an appliance. A clip is attached to the straps so as to be normally positioned at the back of the wearer when the harness is in place so that the electrical cord of a tool or appliance can be retained out of the way of the appliance user.
