  • Patent number: 5725131
Abstract: A valve and dispensing assembly for dispensing powdered material from a container includes a flexible tube intended to be collapsed to actuate a valve which permits the tube to selectively open for dispensing the material through the tube. The assembly includes a flexible tube apparatus including a body attachable to the container and a valve releasably received within the tube and normally closing it off. Collapse of the tube causes it to move relatively of the valve to unseat it and open the tube for material discharge. The assembly also includes a declumper secured to the tube for movement therewith during collapse of the tube. The valve closes off the tube when in its uncollapsed condition while the tube and declumper move relatively of the valve during collapse to open the tube. A portion of the declumper is bifurcated and has serrated opposed edges which can engage the head of the valve during the tube collapse to assist in breaking up clumps which may have formed in the material.

  • Patent number: 5718353
Abstract: A closure assembly for attachment to the lid of a container for the storage and dispensing of towelettes or similar articles is constructed so as to be receivable within a preformed keyhole-shaped opening in the container lid. The assembly includes a body with a main radially extending flange larger than the opening in the lid. The lower portion of the body carries radially extending locking tabs which are dimensioned to fit through the lid opening and, upon the closure being turned, to engage the lower surface of the lid in opposed relationship with the flange which engages the upper surface. Antirotation tabs also extend radially of the lower portion of the body and again, upon rotation, engages the edges of the lid opening to thus secure the closure on the lid. A cap is also provided to releasably engage the upper portion of the closure body to provide a substantially airtight seal for the container.

  • Patent number: 5691530
Abstract: A promotional system includes an envelope or sleeve, an article of currency and a label removably attached to the article of currency. The envelope or sleeve has a length less than that of the currency and a through opening in one face so that, when the article of currency is received within the envelope or sleeve, the portrait portion of the article of currency will register with the opening and part of the currency will project beyond the end of the envelope or sleeve. Either or both of the label and envelope or sleeve carries machine-readable indicia. Reading and display means are provided whereby the envelope or sleeve and/or the label may be read and a display actuated upon insertion into the reading means. An alternative embodiment includes a second opening in the one face of the envelope or sleeve positioned so as to overlie at least a portion of the inserted label. A further alternative embodiment includes just the article of currency, the indicia-bearing label and the reading and display means.

  • Patent number: 5664956
Abstract: An activator lug for a power strip connector to printed wiring board circuits, particularly to data bus boards, having a plurality of sockets for receiving a contact strip containing a blade-contact connector contains at least two contact elements assigned to sockets, which form a shorting bridge between the sockets as long as the blade contact is plugged in, and the insertion of the blade-contact connector and therefore the spreading of the elements receiving the blade contacts lead to an interruption in the shorting bridge. The shorting bridge is produced by means of a direct contact between the sockets or via a contact insert admitted into the base body that bears the contact strip.

  • Patent number: 5641073
Abstract: Elongated objects are aligned by being placed on a vibratory grid having elongated holes arranged parallel to one another and to the direction of advance and removal of the aligned objects. They drop through the grid onto conveying means which then moves them away in the desired direction of removal. This removal on the conveying means can be relatively fast. Desirably the vibratory grid is in the form of a number of parallel but spaced round bars which quickly and effectively align the elongated objects as they pass down through the spaces between the bars.

  • Patent number: 5632345
Abstract: A free-floating skirt assembly for attachment to the deck of a cultivator to protect adjacent vegetation from the blades of the cultivator includes a pair of elongate straps attached to the cultivator deck with shield supports projecting outwardly from the straps and slidingly receiving shield suspension rods to which are attached the shields so that the shields may float as they encounter terrain irregularities. The range of sliding movement of the suspension rods is adjusted and controlled by the provision of through bores in the rods and replaceable pins inserted into the bores above the shield supports which include short shafts extending outwardly from each strap and T-shaped connectors which receive the shafts and the suspension rods. Braces depend from the straps to engage the cultivator deck in instances where the deck has a downwardly tapering rear portion.

  • Patent number: 5625659
Abstract: An apparatus and method of counting dispensing events or washes in a fluid dispenser in which an activator is moved from a starting position to a dispensing position and back to dispense material includes a counter which is indexable to record a dispensing event and which can only be indexed again after dispensing pressure is totally relieved from the activator for a predetermined period of time. The counter is activated by a switch carried on the activator that initiates a timer when the activator leaves the dispensing position. The timer is reset if the activator is returned to the dispensing position prior to the predetermined period of time elapsing. Only after elapse of this period of time can the counter be activated again.
