Only after elapse of this period of time is the counter activated.
Abstract: A scale for measuring total weight/top weight of a bowling ball includes the utilization of a pair of electronic load cells supporting a moment transfer plate with the load cells being connected to a meter. In one form of the invention, the ball is centered over the load cells with its heavy spot in predetermined alignment so as to affect one load cell differently than the other. The ball is weighed simultaneously by both load cells, the total weight is determined by adding the outputs and the difference in output is used by the meter to calculate the top weight which is displayed. In another form of the invention, both a top weight and a total weight load cell are provided and the meter calculates the top weight directly from the top weight load scale.
Abstract: In a tire uniformity machine of the type wherein a loadwheel is received on a carriage slidably mounted on the machine frame for movement toward and away from the tire, the frame and the carriage are interconnected by mounting plates, one attached to the frame and one attached to the carriage, and interconnected by precision anti-friction flatway linear motion bearings of the type characterized by cross rollers or balls mounted in anti-friction gibs or ways so as to facilitate movement of the carriage and stability thereof in two axes to insure precise positioning of the loadwheel relatively of the tire. In a modified form of the invention, the carriage is T-shaped so that the top extended legs serve to support the bearing ways, engage the top of the bearings, and a gib or way is attached directly to the underside of the frame, thus eliminating the mounting plates while still insuring the facilitated movement of the carriage relatively of the frame.
Abstract: A ladder support attachment for supporting a ladder relative to a building while avoiding damage to the gutters or eaves trough includes opposed support leges releasably attachable to a transversely extending support rod which is, in turn, receivable within the hollow rung of the ladder. The support legs each have return legs associated therewith and configured to fit within the gutter and bear against the rear wall thereof to enable the ends of the support legs to rest on the roof of the building with the return legs within the gutter and the ladder itself firmly supported but out of contact with the gutter.
Abstract: A belt tensioning system for maintaining consistent and constant tension in a serpentine drive system consisting of a series of pulleys and an endless belt interconnecting the pulleys. The tensioning system includes a power spring with an appropriate nominal torque and rate which acts on the idler pulley, and through the idler pulley on the belt, and is suitable to maintain sufficiently constant tension over a broad range of belt length variations and pulley locations while providing damping sufficient to prevent undue pulley oscillation over a broad range of vibration conditions. In one form of the invention, the spring itself is fixed at one end to the prime mover and the other end to a tensioner arm so as to operate on the idler pulley and maintain the belt tension and provide the damping. The hysteresis of the spring responding to pulley movement thus assists in the damping. In another form of the invention additional damping is provided by a spring loaded band brake.
Abstract: An activator plug for a power strip connector to printed wiring board circuits, particularly to data bus boards, having a plurality of sockets for receiving a contact strip containing a blade-contact connector contains at least two contact elements assigned to sockets, which form a shorting bridge between the sockets as long as the blade contact is plugged in, and the insertion of the blade-contact connector and therefore the spreading of the elements receiving the blade contacts lead to an interruption in the shorting bridge. The shorting bridge is produced by means of a direct contact between the sockets or via a contact insert admitted into the base body that bears the contact strip.

Abstract: A method for recovering elastomeric material such as rubber from tires comprising the steps of soaking the tires in a mixture of liquids in tanks which soften the rubber, subjecting the softened tires to shear conditions in the rubber, and recovering the rubber and drying it in a drier. In this method grinding of the tire is not required. The recovered dried rubber can be carbonized in a microwave chamber to form a substitute for products such as carbon black formed by burning fossil fuels. A screw conveyor provides the preferred means to remove the softened rubber by a shearing action.
