Abstract: Toothpaste formulations having dispersed therein an invisible abrasive material and visible abrasive agglomerates are disclosed. The abrasive agglomerates comprise subparticles of hard abrasive materials (Moh hardness of at least about 5) joined together by a binding agent material, and provide increased cleaning and polishing characteristics as well as an attractive speckled appearance to the toothpaste formulation.
Abstract: Dentifrice composition containing a monofluorophosphate and polishing agent containing calcium carbonate and insoluble alkali metal metaphosphate, alumina or mixture thereof. The ratio of calcium carbonate to insoluble alkali metal metaphosphate and to alumina is about 3:1 to about 1000:1. This dentifrice retains a desirable level of soluble fluoride upon aging and when insoluble alkali metal metaphosphate is present, does not cause substantial corrosion of unlined aluminum containers.

Abstract: A dental cream comprising a dental vehicle a small portion of flat flakes of alpha-alumina and a small proportion of iridescent flakes. The vehicle preferably has dispersed therein amorphous silica or aluminosilicate as a dental abrasive.
Abstract: A composition comprising as the active antimicrobial agent, a compound selected from the class of quaternary ammonium compounds which include an aryl ester linked to the quaternary ammonium group by a hydrocarbon chain.
Abstract: Method for manufacturing a dentifrice containing gas bubbles which comprises making a gas-free or substantially gas-free viscous extrudible paste or gel dentifrice comprising a polishing agent, a gelling agent and a vehicle, and mixing with such dentifrice bubbles of gas, the dentifrice having viscosity sufficient to maintain the bubbles suspended therein.
Abstract: Dentifrice composition containing a monofluorophosphate and polishing agent containing calcium carbonate and insoluble alkali metal metaphosphate, alumina or mixture therof.

Abstract: Preparation of a dentifrice composition containing an insolubilized salt of 1,6-di-(p-chlorophenyl biguanido) hexane antimicrobial agent such as the disarcosinate monomeric salt or monofluorophosphate polymeric salt. The insolubilized salt may be pre-formed or formed in situ in the dentifrice composition. The insolubilized material is antimicrobially effective and provides desirable cosmetic effect.
Abstract: A toothpaste containing a humectant, a silica thickener, a dental abrasive which is principally amorphous silica or an aluminosilicate, polyethylene glycol having an average molecular weight of about 500-700 and sodium carboxymethylcellulose having about 0.6-0.8 carboxymethyl groups per anhydroglucose unit.
Abstract: A mixture of a non-cationic surface active detergent, a bacterial amylase of the alpha type, and an alkaline protease, which composition contains about 100,000 to 400,000 Novo alpha-amylase units of said amylase per Anson unit of said alkaline protease.

Abstract: Immunization against dental caries by local administration, in the vicinity of the oral mucosa of an animal susceptible to dental caries, of a vaccine containing a polyfructan or polyglucan polysaccharide, or a levansucrase or dextransucrase enzyme. The polysaccharides may be administered in purified form, or may be in the form of dead cells of the streptococci by which they are elaborated. Polyglucan polysaccharides so useful are produced by elaboration of strains of the species S.mutans and S.sanguis, while the polyfructan which may be incorporated in the vaccine may be an elaboration product of Streptomyces Strain SS2.
