Abstract: A construction helmet is disclosed having a housing detachably mounted thereon which supports a ratcheted take-up reel having a pair of ear plugs attached to a hub by flexible cords wound about the hub. The reel is rotatably carried on the housing and a manually operable plunger releases the reel for automatic withdrawal of the ear plugs into a storage receptacle on the housing. Strain relief elements are attached to each cord and the receptacle includes shoulder straps engageable with the strain relief elements. The plunger is releasably connected to ratchet teeth carried on the reel hub.
Abstract: A container having opposite side walls or panels joined with opposite end walls or panels to provide an open box-like structure for insertably receiving a plurality of newspapers to form a disposable stack. Releasable fasteners are employed to detachably join the walls or panels together. A spool of binding string is removably carried on a selected end wall and string is trained in a cross-over pattern with string ends extending exteriorly thereof. The string passes through slotted apertures in the walls.
Abstract: A protector as footwear for an athlete to be worn over the sports shoe covering the toe and sides of the foot and, when desired, an extension for protecting the instep, ankle and toes. The protector includes hinge connections between a thickened toe portion and a foot portion for releaseable attachment purposes. A liner is disposed on the inside of the protector. The hinge may be composed of an elastic, stretchable material or a mechanical hinge. The protector is composed of a durable, hard plastic composition to resist impact loads.
Abstract: A flexible heater is disclosed herein having a base substrate or sheet carrying a plurality of spaced apart electrically resistive strips overlapping layers or grids of conductive strips arranged in spaced apart relationship next to each other to form a plurality of intersections with the resistive strips which, when connected, define and form an electrical resistive component of a given value. Each grid is composed of an electrical conductive material such as silver, aluminum or the like while the resistive component may be composed of carbon. The heater is employed as a hand-held unit, an insert or a portion of an article of clothing such as a boot, shoe, glove, jacket or the like. A power source is detachably provided for energizing the electrical components.
Abstract: A plurality of beverage cans having reclosable covers is disclosed herein in combination with a detachable carrier wherein each cover is disposed on the top of a beverage can with the carrier releasably separating the beverage cans from each other. Each cover includes a body or disc having a downwardly depending peripheral hinge secured to the sidewall of the beverage can. The cover body includes a circular recess adjacent to the flange to permit stacking of other cans. The flange terminates in an inwardly disposed end portion for tightly sealing with the can and further includes a row of perforations for releasing the cover from the end portion via a pull strip. The carrier is releasably attached to the edge of the end portion by by perforations so that individual cans can be separated from the carrier leaving only a web of reduced area for ultimate disposal.
Abstract: A stand is disclosed herein for supporting one of a variety of automotive components, such as a transmission, which includes a base having four upright posts terminating in connection with a support plate. The center of the plate is provided with a mounting opening for accommodating one of a variety of adaptors for holding, supporting and stabilizing a transmission during servicing. A selected adaptor may be a spacer, a shaft stabilizer, or a movable plunger and support bracket therefor. A height and width adjustment fixture is carried on the support plate for lateral and vertical extension to accommodate transmissions of different size.
Abstract: An organizer is disclosed herein for identifying a workpiece with a noted project or owner on a work chart. The chart has rows and columns containing indicia characterizing the workpiece and further including visual labels of a given shape and identification color. An identical set of labels is provided separate from the chart and having corresponding shape and color to those labels carried on the chart. A selected one of the separate labels is affixed to a particular workpiece so as to identify the workpiece with a particular row and column of indicia. A marking pen and an eraser is included to complete the organizer.
Abstract: A blade roller skate having a sole plate supporting multiple rollers or wheels from its underside in downwardly depending relationship and with front rollers in linear alignment along the central longitudinal axis of the plate and rear rollers arranged in tandem separated by the central longitudinal axis. The front rollers are mounted on axles incorporating shock absorbing devices while the rear rollers are movably carried on separate axles connected to a truck which includes shock absorbing devices associated with each axle. The truck mounts the separate rear roller axles to permit independent lateral movement in response to tilting or angling of the sole plate during use of the skate.
Abstract: A vehicle dolly particularly suited for four-point front wheel drive vehicles and employing a telescopic forward stabilizer bar mounting a pair of swivel casters and a pair of pivotable tube-point plates for attachment at first and second points of the vehicle frame. First and second adjustable rear struts are mounted to the forward stabilizer bar by respective U-joints so as to pivot in both the horizontal and vertical planes. Respective connectors or four-point adjusters are mounted to the respective rear struts and are adjustable along the respective axes of the rear struts for attachment to third and fourth points of the vehicle. Apparatus for adapting the dolly to transport three-point vehicles is also disclosed.
Abstract: A tool is disclosed herein for drilling a square hole in a workpiece adapted to be mounted in the chuck jaws of a drill press. The tool includes a drive shaft having an enlarged spindle provided midway between its opposite ends. One shaft end releasably engages with the chuck jaws while the opposite end includes a threaded bore. A stationary body rotatably receives the shaft and spindle via a pair of spaced roller thrust bearings and a sleeve bushing. A flat drill downwardly depends from the drive shaft threaded bore and terminates in a spade cutting edge. A hollow square chisel is secured to the body and encloses the flat drill. The flat drill bores a circular or round hole in the workpiece while the square chisel forms the corners of a square hole.
Abstract: An attachment device is disclosed incorporating a self-returning hinge releasably joining a pair of prongs disposed on a basket frame with a flattened open end of a tubular handle member. A crimping device is carried at the joint operable to be forcibly compressed to crimp or frictionally engage the device with the flattened open end to secure the prongs in place. The frame and prongs are composed of a flexible spring metal so as to constitute a self-returning hinge when the frame is bent or pushed to-either side of a handle center line.
Abstract: An infant nursing bottle nipple is disclosed herein having an elongated feeding tip projecting from a bulbous base carried on an outwardly extending flange adapted to overlap the mouth of an infant nursing bottle. The flange includes an integrally formed reinforcement element such as a solid, rigid washer coaxially disposed with respect to the mouth of the bottle and which is of a diameter greater than the mouth so as to be placed on the bottle shoulder defining the mouth. A cap secured to the bottle bears against the reinforced flange preventing inadvertent withdrawal or displacement of the nipple during use.
Abstract: A detection and alarm circuit for protection of electronic components includes a fan motor current sensing resistor for producing a pulse that is amplified and introduced to a frequency-to-voltage converter for generating a filtered and processed voltage level for application to a voltage comparator. A reference voltage circuit supplies a voltage level to the comparator for matching with the filtered and processed voltage level and depending on the mismatch, an output signal is introduced to a transistor switch for operating an alert alarm device.
