  • Patent number: 5715160
Abstract: An evaluation system is disclosed herein for analyzing, displaying and feedback of digital signals derived from a source of analog motion and analog force. The system includes sensors for detecting physical movement following a point-by-point measurement procedure and a digital signal generator for introducing the sensed motion and force signals to a Fourier measuring unit for analysis. Separate analysis circuits for motion characteristics and force or load characteristics from the derived signals are employed for discrete measurement. The resultant measurements and/or values are introduced to a comparator network where the measurements and/or values are compared with stored individual data and to stored universal standards. A display device such as a video monitor, visual or auditory device receives the result's of the compared motion and force measurements and values.

  • Patent number: 5708981
Abstract: A wrist and hand support for bowlers, including an elongated cushioned base supporting an elongated laterally or transverseley flexible brace member against the back of the hand and wrist of the bowler, is disclosed. Straps having hook and pile fasteners releasably retain the brace member in position and retains the cushioned base on the bowler's hand and wrist. The brace member includes an elongated sheath having open end pockets for receiving the opposite ends of a plurality of spaced-apart rods arranged in spaced-apart relationship. The rods are rigid and may be arranged in parallel or in angled relationship on the sheath with the separating sheath material forming flexible areas permitting the brace member to flex laterally along its length or about its longitudinal axis as viewed from the end of the brace member. Therefore, the user's hand and wrist are rigidly supported which aids the bowler in delivering a bowling ball down a bowling alley.

  • Patent number: 5702474
Abstract: A hip prosthesis is disclosed herein intended to be fitted into a skeletal pelvis socket and which has a replacement socket that includes a metal semi-spherical acetabulum base with a plastic acetabulum liner for movably holding a spherical ball against the liner by a ligament rod. The rod passes through a head of a stem implanted into a femur and terminates with a ligament anchor plate fitted in the acetabulum base via an eyelet and pin connection. A tensioning nut is carried on the stem head in threadable connection with the rod. A conical cutout in the spherical ball permits movement of the ball with the apex of the cone at the center of the spherical ball under adjustable tensioning of the rod. A Wear compensation system is included by incorporating an open passageway in the base which communicates with a blister in the liner for accommodating the introduction of cement to compensate for wear. A boot of mesh material encloses portions of the base, liner and the ball.

  • Patent number: 5692835
Abstract: A bag is disclosed herein having a pair of flexible sheets joined about their peripheral edges to define an interior storage compartment and which includes an entrance or mouth leading into the storage compartment. A length or strip of deformable material such as wire is carried on the sheets adjacent to the mouth for selectively closing the entrance subsequent to the initial bag opening or for maintaining the bag in open position when desired. The deformable element or material may be a continuous strip which extends across the sheets at the mouth of the bag or may be trained about a convoluted path across the sheets and sides of the bag adjacent to the mouth. In one form, integral end tabs protrude beyond the bag sides at the ends of the bag mouth to effect closure.

  • Patent number: 5691509
Abstract: The invention covers a flexible cable termination and a connector for securing the flexible cable termination to surface contact pads on a rigid substrate. The termination of the flexible cable includes flattened, axially extending conductor pads. Each of the conductor pads includes at least two nodes or pressure point contacts extending normal to the pad axis. The connection system includes threaded registration pins on the substrate and registration holes adjacent the conductor pads of the cable through which the pins extend so as to permit the conductor pads of the cable to be aligned with the contact pads on the substrate when the former is disposed atop the latter. The pins also hold a rubber compression pad and a pressure applying spring member atop the cable conductor pads, and bolts thread down over the pins to hold the components in place.

  • Patent number: 5686892
Abstract: A tracking and monitoring system is disclosed herein having a stationary alert or alarm transmitter selectively and manually operated to generate an alert signal receivable by a remote monitoring receiver in a mobile vehicle. The monitoring receiver receives the alert signal and a track signal separately or simultaneously. The track signal is transmitted by a track transmitter hidden in property being stolen. Once alerted and on-track with the monitoring receiver, the mobile vehicle maintains vigil on the stolen property and closes range until apprehension can be safely arranged and performed.

  • Patent number: 5680681
Abstract: A theft deterrent garment tag having a first housing with an internal cavity occupied by a pair of fragile vials fixedly held in position over slots or openings containing a garment staining substance such as ink and a movable vial fracturing element adjacent openings provided in the first housing permitting flow of released substance into the garment when tempered with by unauthorized personnel. An antenna including a diode is carried in the first housing suitable for use in an electronic surveillance situation and hold-down ribs are included for supporting the antenna in position in the first housing. A second housing includes a receptacle mid-way between its opposite ends for insertably receiving the shank of an elongated pin downwardly depending from the fracturing element movably carried on the first housing whereby securement of the housings is made on opposite sides of the fabric of the garment.

  • Patent number: 5678258
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed herein having a wall-mounted water pipe supporting a plurality of individual showerheads by swivel joints and manually operated individual ON/OFF valves, A selected one of the showerheads is carried on the end of a cantilevered extension pipe of reduced diameter which outwardly projects above and beyond the other showerheads. An accessory rack is detachably mountable on the water pipe and encloses the water pipe. Apertures are provided on the housing through which the showerheads protrude. A drainage valve at the lower end of the water pipe eliminates excess water in the water pipe after use.

  • Patent number: 5675899
Abstract: A rotary saw having a housing equipped with a laser beam generator and an end cap with a slit through which a laser beam projects in alignment with a rotating cutting blade of the saw. The housing is mounted on the body of the saw immediately over the blade guard and the end cap is rotatably disposed on the housing whereby the emitted laser beam from the slit may be directed in alignment with the saw blade cut anywhere along a 180 degree angular path extending from the line of cut in front of the saw blade to a target remotely located above the saw. The saw blade can be directed to follow the target in order to align the cut with the target.

  • Patent number: 5660017
Abstract: A steel moment resisting frame (SMRF) connection connects a vertical column to a horizontal beam. It is useful in both original and retrofit construction. A primary trunk assembly is comprised of two, vertical, parallel plates which are welded to the vertical column on opposing sides and which plates extend from the column along the sides of a horizontal beam. A secondary branch assembly is comprised of the horizontal beam and horizontal plates which are welded to the flanges of the horizontal beam. Such plates are welded also to the vertical parallel plates, thereby connecting the column to the beam. Additional plates may be welded between the web and flanges of the horizontal beam and the vertical, parallel plates and, also, between the web and flanges of the vertical column and the vertical, parallel plates.
