  • Patent number: 5357228
Abstract: Ultrahigh-frequency surface acoustic wave filter has a two-channel structure with, preferably, a symmetric pair of input transducers (2, 6) and an associated pair of weighted output transducers (8, 9), and an associated pair of reflectors (14, 15). These reflectors (14, 15) are offset by a distance (d) equal to a quarter of the acoustic-wave wavelength (.lambda.), within an integral number of half wavelengths. The weightings of the output transducers are chosen in order to provide the desired impulse response.

  • Patent number: 5343530
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of authentication of data elements of the type that may be needed, for example, to authenticate a chip card before permitting a transaction instrument to deliver a service to the holder of this card. Should the authentication consist in ascertaining that an information content is truly present in the card at a determined address of a memory of the card, it is proposed to make the length of the block of information elements parametrizable and to include, in the algorithm for the encryption of this block, data relating to this length; the logic address of the file that contains the block and the position of the block in the file are also used. Furthermore, preferably a recursive algorithm is performed in N steps: the block to be authenticated is sliced into slices of fixed length and, at each step, the Exclusive-OR function of a slice considered and of the result of the preceding step is used as the data to be encrypted. FIG. 1.

  • Patent number: 5323533
Abstract: An object of the invention is the production of coaxial connections for the input/output links of the component and/or of the housing which encapsulates it.More precisely, the component placed in a package (B), is conventionally connected by wires to its package; the wires are next covered by a first insulating layer (21) then by a second conducting layer (24) in such a way that this second layer is linked to the earth pads (P.sub.E1) of the package. The layers (21, 24) thus form collectively-produced coaxial structures with the connection wires (F). A similar process is used for the input/output connections (P) of the package itself.

  • Patent number: 5313138
Abstract: An electron gun is modulated by an optoelectronic switching device. This switching device comprises a modulated light source and at least one GaAs or Si solid-state optoelectronic switch, this switch being non-conductive when not illuminated and conductive when illuminated by the modulated light source; the device also includes components to transmit the light from the source to the switch(es). In one embodiment, the modulated light source is a laser and in a second embodiment the source is a continuous source externally modulated by a mechanical or electrooptical device. The optoelectronic switching device is connected between a high-voltage source and the cathode of an electron gun, thus modulating the cathode. The invention is particularly applicable to microwave electron tubes.

  • Patent number: 5296687
Abstract: A method of ratifying secret codes for IC memory cards including a data processing member and a storage device for recording a secret code and data delivered to the card. It consists in determining at least one fixed-size memory zone in the storage device or systematically writing at least one bit in said zone prior to each presentation of a secret code, and in erasing all of the bits recorded in the fixed-size zone once the data processor member observes that the presented secret code corresponds to the secret code recorded in the card.

  • Patent number: 5291434
Abstract: A MOS fuse with oxide breakdown based on a MOS cell electrically programmable by tunnel effect and storage of charges at a gate. This cell is converted into a fuse by providing for the application, when the fuse has to break down, of an intense field, greater than the oxide breakdown threshold, in the tunnel window. Thus, the breakdown is irreversible. The disclosed device can be applied notably to fuses designed for the integrated circuits of memory cards.

  • Patent number: 5279825
Abstract: The regeneration of injured nerves is enhanced by supplying collagenase to the zone of injury of the nerve. Growth of nerve sprouts over the zone of injury is aided by the presence of effective amounts of collagenase during the regeneration process. If the nerve has been severed, collagenase is supplied to the ends of the proximal and distal stumps. A nerve graft may be interposed between the stumps. Natural fibrin has been used as glue to join nerve stumps, and collagenase is effective when used in admixture with fibrin.

  • Patent number: 5271043
Abstract: A device and a method for the transmission or storage of data optimizing the use of the pass-band. Also, a method for transmission by phase modulation. In order to obtain high data throughput rates, the synchronization of a transmission clock with the reception clocks is used. This synchronization is gotten, for example, by transmission of a pseudo-random code and by the convolution or correlation of the received signals with the pseudo-random code. The invention also enables the elimination of multiple echoes by computation. The invention can be applied chiefly to the transmission of radio programs, television broadcasts or digital data.

  • Patent number: 5264689
Abstract: The disclosure concerns memory cards and, more particularly, cards that are used as means of prepayment in installations for the dispensing of products and services. It is proposed to make the memory rechargeable by means of a credit counter, incrementable from outside the card, and a comparator which compares the content of this counter with that of a page counter. The page counter records the number of pages of P accounting units already used up. A no more credit signal is emitted on an external terminal when the content of the page counter reaches the content of the credit counter. A security system against the fraudulent recharging of the card is set up by an algorithm bringing into play the content of the credit counter and an identification number contained in the card.

  • Patent number: 5255098
Abstract: A method for displaying a supplementary video image outside a main image. For example, the main image has a 4/3 aspect ratio and the tube has a 16/9 aspect ratio. The method includes steps of processing a supplementary video image at the time of the line return of the main image to provide a video signal of the desired format. Then, multiplexing the components of the main video signal with the components of the supplementary video signal; and then separately processing the components of the multiplexed signal to produce the components of the display signal for a display on the tube. The displayed image has the main 4/3 aspect ratio image in 4/3 aspect ratio occupying approximately 12/9 of the screen and supplementary video images occupying the remaining 4/9 of the screen.
