  • Patent number: 4982621
Abstract: The magnitude of line pressure used for activating a friction device to be engaged during a shift is controlled based upon data stored in a RAM of a microcomputer based control unit. The data is updated based on the result of evaluation of a shift which has taken place and the magnitude of line pressure is controlled based on this updated data at a future or subsequent time of occurrence of a shift of the same kind. This learning control to update this data stored in the RAM is effected using an inertia phase time measured as criteria which the judgement of the quality of a shift is based on. The total length of time for a shift is measured and when the total length of time is greater than a predetermined value, the data in the RAM is modulated to cause a prompt substantial increase in the magnitude of line pressure, so that the line pressure will be increased at the subsequent future time of the occurrence of a shift of the same kind.

  • Patent number: 4983918
Abstract: A magnetic resonance imaging system includes a static magnetic field generating section, a gradient magnetic field applying section, an RF pulse applying section, a sequence control section, a receiving section, and an imaging processing section. The sequence control section controls a sequence so as to generate a 180.degree. pulse at a timing at which a peak of the 180.degree. pulse appears at t=TE'/2, assuming that TE'=TE-n.tau.c (where TE is the echo time for a proton, .tau.c is the period in which phases of spins of water and fat match with each other and which is obtained on the basis of a chemical shift amount of protons of water and fat, and n is an integer of 1 or more), and a peak of a 90.degree. pulse appears at t-0, generate a read gradient magnetic field Gr whose strength condition is set to cause an echo peak to appear at t=TE=TE'+n.tau.c, and generate a second 180.degree. pulse at T.pi.2 for an echo time TE2' for a second MR echo signalT.pi.2=(TE2'-TE1)/2.

  • Patent number: 4984125
Abstract: In a gas-filled arrester, a pair of main electrodes and a ground electrode are air-tightly fitted to an insulating tubular member. A springy, electrically-conductive short-circuiting element having an arcuate shape is fitted around the outer wall of the ground electrode. The short-circuiting element includes extension portions extending along the outer wall of the insulating tubular member to the respective main electrodes, and these extension portions are made to face the main electrodes by utilization of spring characteristics thereof with a certain gap maintained and with a thermally-fusible spacer interposed. With this construction, if the arrester is overheated, the spacer is thermally fused by heat and therefore the extension portions electrically contact the main electrodes due to the spring characteristics thereof. Since the main electrodes are thus short-circuited to the ground electrode, the arrester is prevented from failing.

  • Patent number: 4983919
Abstract: An apparatus for detecting frequency response of audio signals of left and right channels. The audio signals of the left and right channels are alternately introduced at a predetermined periodic rate with intervals of a predetermined duration between times of signal introduction, the introduced audio signals are detected after being divided into a plurality of frequency band signals by band-pass filters, and one of the detected outputs is in turn relayed selectively. During the above described intervals of predetermined duration, an output end of detection device is grounded and the gain of the band-pass filters are made substantially equal to zero in synchronism with the timing of the grounding.

  • Patent number: 4983957
Abstract: In an electrochromic (EC) display device having oppositely arranged two EC electrode layers, two kinds of EC materials each of which takes on a characteristic color by electrochemical oxidation, or by electrochemical reduction, are used in the two EC electrode layers, respectively, on condition that the characteristic color of one EC material differs from the color of the other EC material. For example, Prussian blue which colors in blue by oxidation and polytriphenylamine which colors in bronze by oxidation are used in combination. An alternative example is using a combination of WO.sub.3 which colors in blue by reduction and V.sub.2 O.sub.5 which colors in green by reduction. Since electrochemical oxidation of one EC electrode layer is usually accompanied by reduction of the opposite EC electrode layer, this EC device can be operated so as to selectively and alternately exhibit at least two different colors aside from colorless transparency.
