  • Patent number: 4990218
Abstract: A method of testing the quality of a conductor film laminated onto a surface of a substrate, is carried out by the steps of mounting a testing stand having a T-shaped cross section on the surface of the substrate, the testing stand being provided with an undercut portion around the entire side periphery thereof, laminating a conductor film having a predetermined thickness on the surface of the substrate, and forming on the top surface of the testing stand a wiring pattern formed with a conductor film insulated from the first mentioned conductor film laminated onto the substrate. An electric current is then applied to the wiring pattern. A characteristic test of the conductor film can therefore be performed immediately after the laminating of the conductor film to significantly reduce the testing time.

  • Patent number: 4989546
Abstract: A pet refuge is disclosed which may be installed in a window opening. The pet refuge includes a projecting enclosure which extends into the outdoors and which is partially constructed of screening material to form a protected pet dwelling space. This allows a pet animal to enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of the out of doors. In a region adjacent the window opening, the projecting enclosure has a closed threshold wall which seals the protected pet dwelling space with respect to the indoors. The closed threshold wall includes a door which is openable at will by the pet to permit the pet to pass between the indoors and the protected pet dwelling space within the screened enclosure. Thus, the indoor area is sealed with respect to the outdoor area so as to prevent loss of heat or air conditioning from the indoor area while preventing entry of outside elements, such as wind, rain, drafts, dust, or the like, into the indoor area.

  • Patent number: 4989315
Abstract: The sealing and guiding element comprises an extruded elastomer with metal backing which includes a first U-shaped part forming a grip, suitable to be fitted on the frame of the movable window and a second U-shaped part turned the opposite way round to the first part and acting as a guiding and weathersealing member for the movable window. The first and second parts are joined together by a flexible resilient hinge contained in the elastomer without metal backing. The hinge permits a dual freedom of movement to the second part, on the one hand pivoting in relation to the said first part and, on the other hand, in translation substantially in the plane of movement of the movable window.

  • Patent number: 4989963
Abstract: The binocular telescope with internal focusing and articulated bridge contains as a joint focusing mechanism two setting rings which can be coupled and which are arranged co-axially on a central axis. In uncoupled condition each setting ring is allocated to a focusing member of a tube, so that focusing can be done independently from each other. In coupled condition both focusing members are shifted jointly by actuation of each of the setting rings. Thus, an unintentional adjustment of the relative positions of the two focusing members is impossible, and focusing of each focusing member in succession is possible.

  • Patent number: 4989173
Abstract: In a divider for dividing a dividend by a divisor to calculate a quotient and a remainder, the divisor being a natural number which is a constant, each of the dividend, the quotient, and the remainder being an integer which is not less than zero, first through N-th comparing circuits compare the dividend with first through N-th predetermined constants. An n-th predetermined constant is equal to n times as large as the divisor, where n is variable between 1 and N, both inclusive. The first through the N-th comparing circuit produce first through N-th comparison result signals. A decoder decodes a combination of the first through the N-th comparison result signals into first and second partial decoded signals. The first partial decoded signal is equal to the quotient. The second partial decoded signal is equal to lower bits of a product of the quotient and the divisor. A subtracter subtracts the second partial decoded signal from lower bits of the dividend to produce the remainder.

  • Patent number: 4987770
Abstract: An engine combustioning condition monitoring system monitors crankshaft angular position for detecting an engine cylinder in combustion cycle. The system derives variation of velocity of a crankshaft revolution on the basis of the monitored crankshaft angular positions and derives a combustioning coefficient for each engine cylinder. A value representative of the variation of the crankshaft revolution velocity is modified by the combustioning coefficient for deriving internal pressure in each engine cylinder. Discrimination of the engine combustioning conditon is made on the basis of the engine cylinder internal pressure.

  • Patent number: 4989115
Abstract: Disclosed is a station or distribution surge arrester of the type comprising a single column of varistors stacked one upon the other and centrally arranged in a cylindrical chamber provided in a casing made of an insulating material. A plurality of movable props, made of a material which is both insulating and non-elastic, are used for holding the varistors in column form centrally in the chamber, even if the varistors break diametrically as is often the case during a severe thermal shock. By holding the varistors permanently at the center of the chamber, the props ensure the non-obstruction of several vertical passages around the column, which passages allow an arc created within the surge arrester to move freely toward a pressure limiting diaphragm during failure of the latter and, thereby, reduce explosion risks to a minimum.

  • Patent number: 4987982
Abstract: In order to shorten considerable time lag, which allows racing of an engine and lowers the transmission output torque peak, an accumulator back-up pressure acting on an accumulator for a start-up friction element is increased momentarily to quickly move a servo piston after a manual selector valve has been shifted from N range position to D range, for example, until the friction element is brought into the intial engagement stage. Subsequently, the accumulated back-up pressure is lowered to soften the frictional engagement.

  • Patent number: 4989161
Abstract: A control unit for a multi-degree-of-freedom manipulator comprising a torque sensor for detecting the force exerting on each joint shaft and operational means for adding first and second correction values to the input signals to the motor actuator in accordance with the torque signal produced from the torque sensor. With this construction, non-linear and interference forces as well as effects due to the low rigidity of the joints can be removed without identifications of the link or arm parameters, and a striking improvement of the control performance can be achieved.
