  • Patent number: 4986245
Abstract: An engine control system derives a basic fuel supply amount on the basis of preselected parameters including an intake air volume associated value and modifies the derived basic fuel supply amount in such a manner that the modified fuel supply amount becomes equal to the basic fuel supply amount derived on the basis of the preselected parameters when the engine is not in an acceleration state satisfying a predetermined first condition, and the modified fuel supply amount varies at a greater rate than variation rate of the basic fuel supply amount derived on the basis of the preselected parameters when the engine is in the accelerating state satisfying the predetermined first condition. The basic fuel supply amount as modified may be further modified with a correction value during the engine accelerating state satisfying a predeermined second condition.

  • Patent number: 4985959
Abstract: End support members mountable at each end of a paint-applying cover sleeve and adapted to receive the axle of a roller handle. Each support comprises a central hub which defines a chamber greater in diameter being the axle of a handle member. A radially expansible split tube is positioned in the chamber. The interior diameter of the split tube prior to expansion is smaller than the diameter of an axle and the outer diameter is smaller than the inner diameter of said chamber. When the axle is inserted into the split tube the latter expands radially outwardly and exerts radially inward pressure on the axle to frictionally retain the axle in its longitudinally adjusted position.

  • Patent number: 4985688
Abstract: In a modualtion system responsive to a first sampled signal (31) of a first sampling rate for supplying a modulated analog signal to an amplifier having nonlinearities to make the amplifier produce an amplified output signal, a selector (72) selects the first sampled signal and a second sampled signal of a second sampling rate as a selected signal when supplied with first and second control signals, respectively. The second sampling rate is equal to 1/N (N: 2, 3, . . . ) of the first sampling rate. A processing arrangement (36) processes the selected signal with reference to a difference between the selected signal and an additional digital signal (35) to compensate for the nonlinearities to produce a processed signal. The processed signal is modulated into the modulated analog signal. The amplified output signal is demodulated and converted into the additional digital signal by a converter (40).

  • Patent number: 4985675
Abstract: Multi-layer printed circuit boards are sometimes connected to transmission paths which may be susceptible to electrical discharges associated with transient electrical events occurring along the transmission path. A method is provided for assuring that two respective layers of the printed circuit board are aligned within predetermined tolerances. Aligning respective layers within acceptable tolerances provides a means of assuring that predetermined distances between a ground layer and a power layer will be maintained, thereby ensuring that electrical arcing will not occur between the power and ground layer in the event of voltage spikes or current surges.

  • Patent number: 4984969
Abstract: A plunger tool is provided having a nose assembly to slow the descent of the tool into the well, a valve assembly, and a piston cylinder assembly. When the tool is dropped into the well, the gas and liquids in the well flow through restrictions in the nose assembly, thereby braking the fall. The fluid flows along a fingered collet which retains an angled valve. The fluid flows around the opened valve and out of the upper end of the plunger lift tool. The valve is connected to the piston which is exposed to ambient pressure on one side and a predetermined pressure on the other. Thus, the piston is set to close the valve at a predetermined pressure. As the pressure builds up, the piston moves the valve so that a lower portion of the valve is gripped by a detent mechanism, in this case collet fingers. When adequate pressure is built up to unsnap the valve, the piston forces the valve out of the detenting collet fingers and into its seat. Formation pressure from below the seal increases the sealing force.

  • Patent number: 4985862
Abstract: A binary calculation circuit has a logic operator acting as an exclusive-OR gate generating a first intermediate signal which is an exclusive-OR of a first input and a carry-in input. An inverter generates a second intermediate signal. A second logic operator generates a first output bit which is a symmetrical exclusive-OR of a second input and both the first and second intermediate signals. A second output bit is a symmetrical trigger function of the first and second input, depending on the first and second intermediate signals, and is generated in a transmission gate. Since the carry-in signal passed via the first and second intermediate signals is applied directly to transistors of the transmission gate, carry propagation delay is reduced.
