Abstract: A wireless communication base station apparatus wherein when a frequency scheduling transmission and a frequency diversity transmission are performed in a multicarrier communication at the same time, the adaptive control of a channel for performing the frequency scheduling transmission can be prevented from being complicated. In this apparatus, a modulating part (12) modulates an encoded Dch data to generate Dch data symbols. A modulating part (22) modulates an encoded Lch data to generate Lch data symbols. An assigning part (103) assigns the Dch and Lch data symbols to subcarriers constituting OFDM symbols and outputs them to a multiplexing part (104). At this moment, the assigning part (103) assigns a set of Dch and Lch data symbols to each subcarrier for a respective subband.
Abstract: A data recording apparatus and a data reproducing apparatus which ensure security of a portable recording medium, such as an optical disk. The apparatus has a security mode and a normal mode as operation modes. In the security mode, a system controller of the apparatus records a security identification signal in an area other than a user data area of the optical disk. At the time of copying of the optical disk, the security identification signal disappears, and a limitation is imposed on reproduction, thereby preventing copying operation. In the security mode, the system controller records the security identification signal in the area other than the user data area of the optical disk, as well as recording user data by means of converting an address through use of a password. At the time of reproduction of data, absence or presence of the security identification signal is ascertained. When the security identification signal is present, the address is inversely converted, thereby reproducing data.
Abstract: An apparatus and a method switch a load through a power transistor. The apparatus includes: a first current generator for generating a current to charge a capacitance of a control terminal of the power transistor during power on of the power transistor; a second current generator for generating a current to discharge the capacitance during power off of the power transistor. The apparatus is equipped with control circuitry having a storage element for storing a voltage value representative of the potential difference between the control terminal and a conduction terminal of the power transistor when the power transistor operates in the saturation region and a discharge circuit for generating an additional current to discharge the capacitance during the power-off process. The additional current is a function of the potential difference of the control terminal and the stored voltage value from the conduction terminal.

The gaming device further includes a printer manager for arbitrating print job conflicts.
Abstract: A sand making apparatus comprises: a crusher configured to crush crushed materials; a first sorter configured to sort the crushed materials obtained from the crusher into coarse particles, fine particles, and powders through air sorting by air blowing and screening sorting by a screen; a negative pressure collection unit configured to suck and collect the powders from the first sorter; and a second sorter disposed between the first sorter and the negative pressure collection unit, the second sorter configured to sort the powders into coarse powders and fine powders through negative pressure of the negative pressure collection unit.
Abstract: A CIR measuring section 307 measures CIRs of all blocks received and a block selection section 308 makes a threshold decision based on the CIR measurement result and threshold information according to an amount of traffic in the own cell and neighboring cells. As a result of the threshold decision, blocks whose CIRs exceed the threshold are regarded as usable blocks. A CIR averaging section 309 averages the CIRs of the usable blocks and a CQI generation section 310 generates a CQI based on the CIR average value. The CQI generated and selected block numbers are reported to a base station apparatus. This allows the throughput of the own cell and neighboring cells to be improved.
Abstract: Electronic equipment capable of registering and changing shortcut functions. When a menu is displayed on an LCD of electronic equipment, a list of shortcuts assigned to respective function keys on a home screen is displayed in the form of a split screen as a result of operation of any of the function keys. When a user selects a function to be assigned from the menu and selects a function key to be assigned, a selected function is assigned to the newly-selected function key.
Abstract: A gaming device accepts a wager. The wager is logically associated with a first progressive jackpot, the first progressive jackpot associated with a first set of participating gaming devices. The wager is also logically associated with a second progressive jackpot different than the first progressive jackpot, the second progressive jackpot associated with a second set of participating gaming devices, the second set of participating gaming devices comprising more gaming devices than the first set of participating gaming devices.
Abstract: A method for following hand movements in an image flow, includes receiving an image flow in real time, locating in each image in the received image flow a hand contour delimiting an image zone of the hand, extracting the postural characteristics from the image zone of the hand located in each image, and determining the hand movements in the image flow from the postural characteristics extracted from each image. The extraction of the postural characteristics of the hand in each image includes locating in the image zone of the hand the center of the palm of the hand by searching for a pixel of the image zone of the hand the furthest from the hand contour.

Abstract: Techniques are described for facilitating interactions between task requesters who have tasks that are available to be performed and task performers who are available to perform tasks, such as by an intermediary electronic marketplace or other task fulfillment facilitator system. In some situations, task performer users and/or other users may create task subscriptions for use in automatically identifying tasks of interest to the users about which the users desire to receive notification. The users may be notified of the identified tasks in various ways, such as by sending electronic messages of various types to the users that include indications of the tasks identified for those users based on their subscriptions. Tasks of interest may be identified in various ways, such as based on task attributes of interest specified for a subscription that are later matched against tasks that are available at the time of the matching.

Abstract: A biomass torrefaction system is provided which enables a continuous torrefaction process that involves the introduction of biomass particles into a rotating reactor drum having a low oxygen environment. The particles are conveyed through the drum by a heated gas stream and simultaneously torrefied thereby. Gas exiting the drum is recirculated back to a heat source for reheating the gas prior to reentering the drum. A method of biomass torrefaction is also provided.

Abstract: Techniques are described for managing execution of programs. In some situations, program execution is managed for multiple users using excess program execution capacity of one or more computing systems. In some such situations, excess or otherwise unused program execution capacity may be made available to execute programs on a temporary basis, such that the programs executing using the excess program execution capacity may be terminated at any time if other preferred use for the excess program execution capacity arises. The excess program execution capacity may in some situations be provided in conjunction with other dedicated program execution capacity that is allocated to particular users, such as to use unused dedicated capacity of some users as excess capacity for other users. In some situations, the techniques are used in conjunction with a fee-based program execution service that executes multiple programs on behalf of multiple users of the service.
