  • Patent number: 6554867
Abstract: The intraosseous implant intended to be fitted in a bone is provided on the surface with a specific roughness, the implant surface having depressions (1) with a depth (c) of about 20 &mgr;m to about 60 &mgr;m. At the bottom of the depressions (1) there are base faces (2), and between the depressions (1) there are plateau faces (3). Base faces (2) and plateau faces (3) have a horizontal extent (a, b) of about 10 &mgr;m to about 20 &mgr;m. These depressions (1) are ideally as smooth as possible, i.e. they have no surface roughness below the cellular dimension. Obliquely ascending side faces (4) extend from the base faces (2) to the plateau faces (3), and the angle of inclination (&agr;) between the horizontal and the side faces (4) is about 30° maximum. Below the upper neck portion, the implant has a self-tapping thread, and the neck portion of the implant is provided with a porcelain-like coating. The surface energy and surface tension of the implant are kept as low as possible.

  • Patent number: 6543853
Abstract: A massage chair including a main support frame and large and small curved rod frames. Specifically, the user can use a retaining pin to engage any of several round holes formed in the intermediate section of the main support frame to adjust the position of the hip pad, which is mounted to the large curved rod frame, which rides on a block secured to the retaining pin. The main support frame abuts against an eccentric angular block to enable the user to adjust the distance between the curved part of the main support frame against which the angular block abuts and the center of rotation of the block to permit micro-adjustment of the inclination of the main support frame.

  • Patent number: 6527742
Abstract: A safety syringe is provided which includes a housing and a barrel mounted for reciprocating movement within the housing. A ring is mounted to the barrel and is rotatable relative to the housing and to the barrel. The ring includes a plurality of tabs circumferentially spaced from each other. An interior wall of the housing includes a plurality of ramps and a plurality of stops. The ramps cooperate with the tabs of the ring so as to rotate the ring relative to the housing and to the barrel, while the stops cooperate with the tabs for stopping the rotation of the ring relative to the housing and to the barrel. Locking means is also included within the interior wall of the housing for locking the barrel so as to allow for only a single use of the safety syringe.

  • Patent number: 6520586
Abstract: A seating structure includes a seat cooperating to define a space below the seat and at least one supporting member for supporting the seat. An armrest is movably mounted to the supporting member such that the armrest is movable between a first position, in which the armrest is positioned on a lateral side of the seat in an upright manner, and a second position, in which the armrest is positioned in the space such that it does not extend outwardly from the space. The armrest is movable to the second position for allowing the seating structure to be arranged with an identical seating structure in a side-by-side manner so as to form an array of seating structures.

  • Patent number: 6506191
Abstract: The device with a bone plate (1) and with a temporarily attachable retainer (100) is used for fixation of, in particular, fragments of a jaw bone. The bone plate (1) has a longitudinal guide slot (40) which is open at one end or closed at both ends. The retainer (100) comprises a disk (110) which engages partially over the bone plate (1) and in which a locking screw (120) sits preferably in a rotatable manner and secure against loss, said locking screw (120) being intended to be screwed into a bone fragment via the guide slot (40). At one end, the bone plate (1) advantageously has areas of members (30) comprising individual members which can be divided off to obtain the desired length, The device extends the possibilities of screwing the bone plate (1), so that better adaptability to the particular task is achieved, and also improved rigidity across the edge of the bone plate (1), while the elasticity of the latter across the surface can be increased by means of less material thickness.

  • Patent number: 6501029
Abstract: A high-voltage homogeneous co-curing composite insulator includes first and second end fittings longitudinally separated by a spacer, a resin impregnated fiber core wound onto the end fittings and onto the spacer, and an outer sheath moulded onto the fiber core. Since the resin matrix of the core and the material used to form the outer sheath each include curable resins from the same family and are, therefore, chemically compatible, a chemical link exists between these two elements. The end fittings are provided with a relatively thin wall defining a mechanical fuse.

  • Patent number: 6488147
Abstract: A merchandising system can display merchandise on a display rack. The system has a pair of articles to be worn by a person (for example, gloves). The articles have a right main body and a left main body, each with a user (or hand) opening. The pair of articles have an attachment subsystem for providing an outlying attachment locus for the articles. The attachment subsystem includes a right extremity and a left extremity secured at the user opening of the right main body and the left main body, respectively. The right and the left extremity are each able to reach out of the user opening. The attachment subsystem also includes a display arrangement including a panel. The attachment subsystem is arranged to detachably secure the articles together with the panel, and the right extremity and the left extremity. The attachment subsystem is adapted to hang on the display rack and support the articles.

  • Patent number: 6475467
Abstract: The use of solid, pharmaceutically acceptable salts of cromoglycic acid and/or nedocromil as carriers in a therapeutically and prophylactically inefficacious amount in suspension aerosol formulations of pharmaceutical active compounds improves the dispersion properties, increases the chemical and physical stability of moisture-sensitive active compounds, makes possible a more accurate dosage, in particular even of low-dose active compounds, and as a rule permits the abandonment of surface-active agents.

  • Patent number: 6474876
Abstract: A shielded optical fiber adaptor for mounting in an opening of a conductive faceplate of electronic equipment. The adaptor has an insulative body with a conductive plate imbedded therein. The plate has an aperture within the body which allows passage of light from the optical fiber and extends outwardly of the body to contact the faceplate when the body is retained in the faceplate opening. The largest dimension of the plate aperture is no more than ten percent of the wavelength at the highest operating frequency of the electronic equipment. In another embodiment, the plate is eliminated and the body is covered by a layer of conductive material. An interior channel in the body holds the fiber and has an aperture of no more than ten percent of the wavelength at the highest operating frequency of the electronic equipment. Since the interior of the channel is covered by the layer of conductive material, it acts as an attenuating waveguide.
