  • Patent number: 6463543
Abstract: An electronic system having a central controller coupled to a plurality of remote transceiver modules by means of a serial bus. The modules are designed to remain in a sleep mode in which they consume no power until such time as a wakeup signal is sent over the bus by the central controller. Each module includes a source of power and power supply circuitry adapted to provide power for operating the module when the power supply circuitry is connected to the source of power. Each module further includes an energy detector coupled to the bus and adapted to connect the power supply circuitry to the source of power upon detection of energy, in the form of the wakeup signal, on the bus. Within each module is a microprocessor which responds to the provision of power by maintaining the connection between the source of power and the power supply after the wakeup signal has terminated and until such time as the module completes its assigned task.

  • Patent number: 6461591
Abstract: A pressure-liquefied propellant mixture for aerosols, comprising a fluorinated alkane, in particular 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane and/or 1,1,1,2,3,3,3-heptafluoropropane, and carbon dioxide, makes possible an improvement of the wetting properties of pharmaceutically active compounds, with which the formulation problems existing with hydrofluoroalkanes in relation to suspension as well as solution aerosols can be overcome and thus improved medicinal aerosol formulations can be obtained. With the aid of carbon dioxide, it is also possible to specifically influence the pressure and thus the particle size distribution and also by displacement of oxygen from the hydrofluoroalkanes to improve the storage stability of oxidation-sensitive active compounds.

  • Patent number: 6462565
Abstract: In order to measure a width of a wire a measuring pattern for the width of the wire is prepared. The measuring pattern includes: a first pattern with a first width; a second pattern connected to the first pattern and having a second width wider than the first width; and a third pattern connected to the second pattern and having a third width narrower than the first width. The first pattern, the second pattern and the third pattern are made of same material. The first pattern through a power source is connected to the third pattern. A first pair of probes are disposed on the first pattern and then are connected to a first voltmeter. A distance between the first pair of probes is a first distance wider than the first width. A second pair of probes are disposed on the second pattern and then are connected to a second voltmeter. A distance between the second pair of probes is a second distance wider than the first width.

  • Patent number: 6449999
Abstract: The aim of the invention is to reduce the amount of space and the technical effort required to feed the front end of a wire coil into a wire drawing installation. To achieve this, the arm of the device is formed from a base section and an end section, whereby the end of the base section can pivot around a first pivotal axis and is connected to the base of a rotationally mounted holder and the pivotal axis of the base section runs perpendicular to the axis of rotation of said holder. One end of the end section can pivot around a second pivotal axis and is connected to the other end of the base section. The first and second pivotal axes run parallel to each other. The free end of the end section of the arm supports a head unit that is rotationally mounted around two axes that are located in a normal position to each other. A hook-shaped gripping element and a clamping device which dresses the front end of the wire coil are arranged on said head unit.

  • Patent number: 6443589
Abstract: A drinking vessel includes a container sized and shaped so as to hold liquid therein and a generating mechanism for generating electrically generated special effects so as to enhance amusement for a user. A first switch is mounted on the container so as to be operable between a first state, in which the first switch is in an electrically closed state, and a second state, in which the first switch is in an electrically open state. The first switch is in the first state when liquid is present in the container and in the second state when liquid is not present in the container. A second switch is also mounted on the container so as to be operable between a third state, in which the second switch is in an electrically closed state, and a fourth state, in which the second switch is in an electrically open state. The second switch is in the third state in response to a predetermined physical activity undertaken by the user in relation to the container.

  • Patent number: 6439661
Abstract: The chair mechanism is configured as a so-called synchronizing mechanism in order, in the case of an adjustment in inclination of the rear support (4), to achieve simultaneous, harmonic adjustment of the seat panel (8). The underframe is positioned on a height-adjustable pneumatic spring (13,14). For the synchronized movement, use is made of a mechanical torsion spring, preferably a rubber spring, and a further mechanical spring, preferably a helical spring, is arranged parallel thereto, with accumulative effect in relation to the resistance of the torsion spring. The strength of the torsion spring can be adjusted. The positioning of the axes of rotation (A1-A4) is of considerable importance for the kinematics. The chair can be adjusted from an assembly position, where the springs can be inserted in a state in which they are relieved of stressing, via the vertical position into the inclined position.
