Abstract: A telecommunications system that supports the provision of video messaging, yet maintains compatibility and operation with user equipment that is not capable of processing, receiving or rendering video content. Based on the type of user equipment, as well as user selected options, network configurations and status, and class-of-service characteristics, the telecommunications systems can revise the manner in which content is provided to the user equipment. Variations in the content provision include providing synchronized audio and video content, audio content only, video content only, video content with closed-captioning and closed-captioning only.

Abstract: An electrode for influencing ion motion in mass spectrometers, having a dielectric substrate and a conducting layer on portions of the substrate, wherein peripheral borders, edges or convex shapes of the conducting layer adjoin free regions of the substrate. According to the invention, a dielectric layer is provided on transitions from the conducting layer to the adjoining free regions of the substrate such that at least some of the peripheral borders, edges or convex shapes of the conducting layer are covered.

Abstract: Interface device for interfacing between a PLMN network and a non-PLMN network, the PLMN network being configured to recognize cellular base stations as nodes thereof through which to mediate connections to cellular mobile devices, the non-PLMN networks each comprising a plurality of access points for mediating connections to network compatible mobile devices, and for which the network compatible mobile devices are not required to be cellular devices. The interface device is configured as a node of the PLMN network to appear to the PLMN network as a standard cellular base station, and comprises functionality to make non-cellular devices connecting to the non-PLMN network and attempting to access the PLMN network through the non-PLMN network appear as cellular devices to the PLMN network.

Abstract: For the production and filling of (sheet-material) bags (10) with one tobacco portion (18) each, a plurality of bags (10) are preferably made available in the region of a filling station (20). The latter is located in the vicinity of a pressing station (19), which is supplied with the tobacco portions (18). In the region of the pressing station (19) or in a pressing chamber (35), each tobacco portion (18) is compressed in the vertical direction on a horizontal rest, namely on a platform (39), and in addition preferably compressed by a pressing crosspiece (42) in the horizontal direction. The tobacco portion (18) thus formed is introduced into the bag (10).
Abstract: An inline washing system to be formed from a tunnel-type washing machine (10) which only washes the items of laundry is described. Rinsing and also water removal are then performed in the downstream water-removal press (18). It has been found that the rinsing performance is better and fresh water can be saved as a result of this. It is therefore also possible to wash relatively small amounts of laundry using a tunnel-type washing machine (10) in an economical manner because the tunnel-type washing machine (10) can be designed without a rinse zone.
Abstract: Customer enrollment in a stored value card program is provided. One embodiment is a method for enrolling a customer in a stored value card program. One such method comprises: generating a list of unaffiliated stored value card programs; and when enrolling a new customer in a new stored value card program at a device, determining whether the new customer has a stored value account with one of the unaffiliated stored value card programs.

Abstract: Drinking troughs for in particular poultry feature drinking valves arranged at regular intervals along a water supply line, with each drinking valve being assigned a water-collecting bowl (14). The water-collecting bowls (14) are usually made of plastic. The water-collecting bowls (14) are cleaned with agents that contain aggressive substances, which are capable of damaging the plastic of the water-collecting bowls (14). The invention is a water-collecting bowls (14) with a respective insert (17) made of a resistant material, thus making the water-collecting bowl (14) resistant to aggressive liquids, in particular cleansing agents.

Abstract: A cigarette pack of the hinge-lid box type in which box side walls (24) and lid side walls (25) are correspondingly formed as a polygonal chain from adjoining wall portions (27, 28, 29), and the wall portions (27, 28, 29) are designed with the same width and directed at the same angles to one another and to the front side and rear side of the pack.
Abstract: A device for cracking open an egg is shown, having egg-size sensing means for determining the size of an egg positioned in the device, thereby providing for automatic calibration of the device to the specific size of an egg to be cracked. The calibration determines how much would the distance between the piercing members and the imaginary longitudinal axis of the egg be reduced before the piercing members stop their advancing towards the egg and start moving apart for cracking its shell open. The device can thus open eggs of different sizes, e.g. having widths between 40 and 50 millimeters, accurately without requiring special preparation or manual calibration. A method for cracking open an egg based on said device is also shown.
Abstract: A spring system in particular for upholstery and/or mattresses of push-carriage seats, furniture for sitting on or lying on or the like, having a plurality of successively spaced-apart slats (20), in particular resilient slats, and having supporting bodies (21) for supporting the slats directly or indirectly on a carrying structure. The bearing points or bearing regions (27) of the slats (20), in which the slats (20) are supported by the supporting bodies (21), are arranged exclusively between the slat ends (31, 32).
Abstract: The rendering of markup language based files is accelerated by employing an apparatus to capture requests for markup language pages. The requested pages are retrieved and then examined to identify additional links that are contained therein. The markup language page is then modified by adding a trigger or tag into the page. The trigger or tag is basically a mechanism to automate a request for additional markup language information or pages. The trigger or tag, when received by the device requesting the markup language page, will invoke a request to obtain the markup language information or file represented by the tag. The tag can be a browser activated link or a JavaScript. A predictive module is used to review the additional links in the requested pages to identify a predicted next page to be downloaded or requested. This predicted next page or link can be a most likely candidate for what a user viewing the current page would request.
Abstract: A powerful throughput magazine of the ‘first in first out’ type is activated for the handling of diapers (10) or similar objects during the transport from a converter (13) to a packer (14), the diapers being transported as diaper groups (19) through said magazine. The magazine (15) comprises of an endless magazine conveyor (18) having transversely directed bars (20), wherein one diaper group (19) each is disposed between adjacent bars on the magazine conveyor (18) in an upright position. After removing the diapers (10) from the magazine (15), the diaper groups (19) are separated again, and the diapers are individually fed to the packer (14).

Abstract: In the production of elongate plastic profiles (10), which usually takes place by the pultrusion process, the cured plastic profile (10) emerging from a die (14) is pulled through the stationary die (14) by a take-off device. This process only makes it possible to produce straight plastic profiles (10). The invention envisages producing curved plastic profiles (10) by using a die (14) corresponding to the curvature of the plastic profile (10). For moving the cured part of the plastic profile (10) out of the die (14), it is provided that the die (14) is moved back step by step in relation to the stationary plastic profile (10) counter to the direction of production (19). In order that the plastic profile (10) remains stationary in relation to the die (14) as this takes place, it is securely held outside the die (14) by a holding means (20) during the moving back of the die (14).

Abstract: For the purpose of packaging diapers (10), the latter are fed to a grouping arrangement (13) in order to produce diaper groups (20, 21) from a plurality of diapers (10) positioned closely one beside the other. The diaper groups (20, 21) are fed along a plurality of conveying paths, in particular along two removal conveyors (35, 36) located one beside the other or one above the other, to a (multi-path) packaging machine or a plurality of packaging machines.
