  • Patent number: 4218174
Abstract: A load-transporting method and apparatus involve use of a transport vehicle, preferably a straddle truck, having connected thereto a load carrier in the form of a frame which is capable of engaging a load and elevating the same with respect to a given surface on which the load initially rests when the load-carrier is raised with respect to this surface. The connection between the load carrier and the vehicle is such that once the load is engaged by the load carrier, the travel of the vehicle with respect to the load causes the load carrier to act through its connection to the vehicle on the latter in a manner which resists the travel of the vehicle and causes the load to move frictionally with respect to the above surface on which it initially rests, the kinetic energy of the travelling vehicle and the friction of the load with respect to the surface and/or the inertia of the load being utilized to bring about elevation of the load and the load-carrier with respect to the above surface.

  • Patent number: 4214758
Abstract: The flat sealing member of the device is forced against the end face of the mutually rotatable rollers by virtue of a bow-shaped projection having a triangular cross section and somewhat rounded off crest to provide a relatively linear contact. The above flat sealing member has a hollow interior space for a refrigerant and a lubricant to feed thereinto, both of them being then delivered to the zone of contact of the above projection and the end faces of the rollers. Such a system reduces wear on the rubber-coated roller surface and adds to the service durability of the whole unit.

  • Patent number: 4213346
Abstract: A method for testing cyclically operated mechanical members for defects comprises the steps as follows: a frequency range of at least two wideband electrical signals corresponding to the defects of the test member is selected; the modulus and phase of the resultant electrical signals is determined and the magnitude is accumulated using the value of the phase of that signal within a given number of rotational cycles of the test member; defect locations are determined using the maximal accumulated magnitudes of the resultant electrical signal and their corresponding phases. An apparatus to realize the disclosed method comprises at least two vibration pickups adapted to sense the vibration of the test member and coupled to the inputs of adjustable pass band filters which are operated to select a frequency range corresponding to the defects of the test member.
