  • Patent number: 4212630
Abstract: The invention has to do with an apparatus for removing heat from cylinders of the rotary kiln recuperator cooler. The apparatus comprises heat-exchange tubes which are fixed on the lateral surfaces of bow-shaped support members so that they go around the cooler surface along a wave line with a space of variable cross section being formed between the heat-exchange tubes and the surfaces of the cylinders. Such constructional arrangement of the apparatus permits the heat-transfer area to be increased and substantially greater amount of heat to be removed from the surfaces of the cylinders.

  • Patent number: 4210949
Abstract: In a device for electrically charging particles, a pair of parallel plasma generators are spaced from one another, each of the generators having corona discharge electrodes. A main field forming source of high AC voltage is connected between the plasma generators, to form a main field in the charging space, and intermittently operating corona generating high voltage power sources are coupled to apply high voltages to the respective corona discharge electrodes only when the plasma generators have relative specific polarity, whereby only particles of one polarity are driven into the charging space. The intermittent corona generating high voltage source has a frequency equal to or greater than the frequency of the AC voltage which provides the main AC field.

  • Patent number: 4209361
Abstract: A method in a paper machine press section for dewatering a wet paper web by threading the web in an improved way and avoiding crushing or stretching the web structure through at least three nips of the press section. The invention is particularly characterized by following features of dewatering steps. The web while passing the press section through said three nips is all the time adhered to and supported by the surface of a felt or a roll without any open draws therebetween. Pressing the web in the first dewatering nip takes place between two felts and so the web is dewatered simultaneously through both sides of the web. Further dewatering and pressing steps take place in press nips which all are formed against a plain roll having a large diameter which enables a spacious location of the press rolls and their felts. Detaching the web from the surface of said plain roll for conducting the web into dryer section, takes place in a point allowing easy removal and handling of broke in case of a web break.

  • Patent number: 4209127
Abstract: The method of breaking down emulsions resides in that the emulsion is made to bubble through a coalescent matter of a pelletized polymeric material featuring its specific gravity below that of the lighter emulsion component, said matter being filled with said lighter component of the emulsion under process and being exposed to the effect of the field of centrifugal forces. The device for breaking down emulsions is in fact a centrifugal separator whose bowl has respective chambers for the lighter and the heavier emulsion components to collect, said chambers communicating with the bowl interior space. A perforated inlet sleeve is provided coaxially with the bowl axis for admission of the emulsion being broken down while the bowl interior is filled with the coalescent matter made of the pellitized polymeric material.

  • Patent number: 4208895
Abstract: The ram of the press is accelerated to an acceleration-terminating point whereat it attains a speed providing for the required energy of impact upon the work. During the acceleration, the velocity of the ram is measured, as well as the deviation of the actual point of attaining the required speed relative to the preset acceleration-terminating point. Depending on the value of this deviation, either the extent of the acceleration path is varied, with the acceleration value maintained constant, or else the acceleration rate is varied, with the acceleration path length remaining permanent. To effect control by varying the acceleration path length, the control system is provided with specific electric circuitry controlling a transmitter generating a signal sent to a solenoid-operated valve, to vary the latter's position so as to vary accordingly the approach portion of the ram's stroke, and thus to vary the acceleration path.
