Abstract: A prism for use in scanning applications such as total internal reflection microscopy in which the prism is translated relative to an incident light beam. A geometry is disclosed which cancels walk of the beam footprint at the base of the prism. Walk of the beam footprint due to irregularities in a largely planar sample surface located at the prism base are cancelled by coupling movement of the incident light beam to movement of the sample in the field of view of an objective lens, for example as part of an autofocus arrangement.

The attachment engine is coupled to the email agent. The attachment engine generates a list of the email attachments within the email repository for visual communication on a display device.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a device (or an apparatus) and a method for providing information about body fluids. The device is for measuring a body fluid discharged from a body of a user by putting a first disposable absorbent article having a predetermined absorbent capacity to a fluid discharging portion of the user. The device comprises means for inputting an amount of the body fluid which is absorbed by the first absorbent article through observation; and means for calculating the total amount of the body fluid which was discharged by the user based on the input and the predetermined absorbent capacity of the first absorbent article.

Abstract: In an email message method and system, an email server receives at least one user-defined constraint for a first email message, where the user-defined constraint comprises at least one of an expected format and expected content of a reply email message. The email server associates the at least one user-defined constraint with the first email message and sends the first email message to a recipient. In response to receiving the reply email message, the email server validates the reply email message against the at least one user-defined constraint.

Abstract: A method of recovering a rare earth constituent from a phosphor is presented. The method can include a number of steps (a) to (d). In step (a), the phosphor is fired with an alkali material under conditions sufficient to decompose the phosphor into a mixture of oxides. A residue containing rare earth oxides is extracted from the mixture in step (b). In step (c), the residue is treated to obtain a solution, which comprises rare earth constituents in salt form. Rare earth constituents are separated from the solution in step (d).

The response unit responds to the location and replaces the component prior to failure, or the communication might include information that the hose has failed, such that the response unit replaces the failed hose to return the fluid power system to normal operation.

Abstract: I/Q gain and phase mismatches of both transmit and receive paths of an OFDM FDD transceiver are simultaneously estimated. An up-converted RF signal is generated when the transmit path performs IQ modulation on a reference signal having a single sideband tone. The up-converted RF signal is sent via a loop-back path to the receive path. A down-converted evaluation signal is generated when the receive path performs IQ demodulation on the up-converted RF signal. The single evaluation signal is used to determine the transmit path gain and phase mismatches and the receive path gain and phase mismatches. The four I/Q mismatches are estimated without using significant hardware nut otherwise used in the regular transmission of data signals. The I/Q mismatches in data signals are corrected by pre-processing the up-converted RF signals and post-processing the down-converted RF signals by adding attenuated components of the in-phase and quadrature-phase signals to each other.
