Abstract: A receiver that receives a plurality of signals that are modulated with a common carrier, where each signal of said signals originates at a different source and experiences a transit delay and Doppler frequency shift before reaching the receiver, and where the transit delay and Doppler frequency shift are related to position and movement of each of the respective sources. The receiver includes means, such as a directional antenna, to ensure that the received signals are bona fide, or at least not subject to the same bogus signal or signals to which a second receiver may be subjected.

Abstract: An integrated circuit includes a pull-up compensation path unit configured to adjust a pull-up driving power of an input signal; a pull-down compensation path unit configured to adjust a pull-down driving power of the input signal; and a path control unit configured to route the input signal to one of the pull-up compensation unit and the pull-down compensation unit in response to a conditional signal.
Abstract: An optoelectronic timing system includes an adaptive frequency generator system in which optical pulses are developed by a semiconductor laser. The pulses are directed into a number of time-quantifiable optical paths. Time quantification for a pulse is based upon the time required for a pulse to travel a particular length at the speed of light. Pulses are recombined at a nodal point and exhibit a numerical relationship with the periodicity of the issued pulse train equal to the numerical relationship between the lengths of the number of optical waveguides. A pulse detector and a regenerator are coupled to the semiconductor laser. A regeneration waveguide having a length equal to the longest of the optical paths is coupled to receive pulses from the laser.
Abstract: The present disclosure describes processes for producing cyclohexenes using Lewis acidic ionic liquids comprising the steps of providing to a reactor an ?,?-unsaturated carbonyl dienophile, providing to the reactor a 1,3-diene, providing a Lewis acidic ionic liquid to the reactor; and reacting the ?,?-unsaturated carbonyl dienophile with 1,3-diene to form a substituted cyclohexene product. The ?,?-unsaturated carbonyl dienophile can be mesityl oxide, the 1,3-diene can be piperylene; and the Lewis acidic ionic liquid can be AlCl3:[C2mim]Cl; AlCl3:[C8mim]Cl; or mixtures thereof.

Abstract: Testing an integrated circuit (IC) having numerous terminals coupled to numerous digitally controlled impedance (DCI) modules, where the numerous DCI modules control configurable impedances of the numerous terminals. The IC further includes a control circuit having outputs coupled to enable inputs of the numerous DCI modules, where operating the IC in a test mode configures the control circuit to selectively couple a control signal to the enable terminals of the numerous DCI modules. One DCI module of the numerous DCI modules can be enabled at a time facilitating testing of the configurable impedances of the I/O terminals.
Abstract: A method of fabricating a transistor in a semiconductor device includes forming a gate structure over a substrate, forming a first trench by etching the substrate on either side of the gate structure to a first depth, ion-implanting dopants of a first conductivity type to form a source/drain region in the substrate on the side of the gate structure with the first trench, etching the substrate on the side of the gate structure with the first trench to a second depth larger than the first depth to form a second trench, and growing an epitaxial layer within the second trench.
Abstract: A device for use with a gyroscopic stabilizer for use in an assembly that is moveably connected to a vehicle. The gyroscopic stabilizer has a gyroscope, a skew motor, and a skew motor velocity servo-control system. The gyroscopic stabilizer can control a skew of the assembly based on a torque signal to maintain the assembly in an intended position. The skew motor velocity servo-control system can control the skew motor. The skew motor can move the gyroscope. The gyroscope can provide the torque signal. The device comprises an assembly position determining system, a detector, a state estimator and an output portion. The assembly position determining system can generate an assembly position signal based on one of a position of the assembly, a position of the gyroscopic stabilizer, a position of the gyroscope, a position of the skew motor and a position of the skew motor velocity servo-control system.
Abstract: Crude chlorosilane streams containing lower-boiling chlorosilanes and higher-boiling chlorosilanes are separated by contacting them with a distillation aid. The lower-boiling chlorosilanes are separated from the crude chlorosilane stream, and then the distillation aid and the higher-boiling chlorosilanes are separated from one another. The distillation aid is a mono-cyano-substituted organic compound, a nitro-substituted organic compound, a mono-cyano-substituted organosilicon compound, a nitro-substituted organosilicon compound, or a mixture thereof. These distillation aids increase the relative volatility of crude chlorosilane streams such as methyltrichlorosilane and dimethyldichlorosilane resulting in improved separation at lower capital and/or fixed costs.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method of reducing susceptibility of a circuit design to single event upsets can include determining a susceptibility level of the circuit design to single event upsets, comparing the susceptibility level with a target susceptibility, and selectively applying a mitigation technique to at least one of a plurality of regions of the circuit design when the susceptibility level of the circuit design exceeds the target susceptibility. The circuit design including the mitigated region can be output.
Abstract: Interference in a wireless communication is minimized, or at least reduced, by scaling the symbols received from an interfering transmitter. Input samples from the interfering transmitter are isolated and decovered to generate received symbols. The gains of the received symbols are scaled to reduce the interference and the scaled symbols are covered to produce output samples that are spread to generate interference cancelled samples with reduced interference from the interfering transmitter. The function applied to scale the symbols may be linear or nonlinear.

Abstract: A method of reducing asphaltene and particulate induced fouling during the thermal processing of petroleum oils utilizes resin extracts from HSDP crude oils to disperse and solubilize asphaltenes and disperse inorganic particulate contaminants such as salts and iron oxide. The extracts are essentially maltene fractions which may be separated from the HSDP crude by a process of extraction from a precipitated asphalt fraction using light paraffinic solvents such as n-heptane.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method of verifying isolation of a plurality of instances of a redundant module of a circuit design that is implemented within a single, programmable integrated circuit can include counting component failures needed to establish a connection between at least two different ones of the plurality of instances of the redundant module. The method can include determining whether each instance of the redundant module is isolated from each other instance of the redundant module according to the counting of component failures, and outputting an indication whether each of the plurality of instances of the redundant module is isolated.
Abstract: An assembly for securing an apparatus to a facemask includes a U-shaped frame extending along similarly shaped portions of the facemask. Removable attachment clips secure the frame to the facemask. Two cylindrical pins with circumferential radiused grooves are attached to and extend from the top portion of the frame. The pins mate with bores in a clevis assembly, to which the apparatus can be attached. A spring-loaded bar spans between the bores. The bores in the clevis assembly receive the pins and the spring-bias causes the bar to engage with the grooves to secure the clevis assembly to the frame. A lever is rotatably attached to the clevis assembly. Pivoting the lever works against the spring-bias to lift the bar out of the grooves, disengaging the pins, and allowing the clevis assembly to be disengaged from the frame and facemask.
