Abstract: Thermosetting powder paints are produced from functional fluorocarbon resins adapted to be coreactive with a blocked diisocyanate upon heating. Preferred compositions can further contain hydroxyl functional acrylic polymers or polyester polymers which can coreact with the unblocked diisocyanate upon heat curing of the powder paint film.
Abstract: Transesterification curing of ester polymers and hydroxyl polymers is effected by the inclusion of a transesterification catalyst comprising a catalytic amount of epoxy resin and certain inorganic salts.
Abstract: A water-dispersed paint coating composition particularly useful for plastic substrates such as polystyrene foam comprises a polymeric binder of a functional acrylic copolymer and epoxy resin. Preferably, the epoxy resin is a coreaction product containing sorbitol. The polymers are water-dispersed and are adapted to cure and crosslink at ambient temperatures.
Abstract: An aqueous thermosetting protective coating composition cures by water evaporation followed by thermosetting crosslinking of the polymeric binder. The polymeric binder is ion-exchanged to remove cations and reduce the pH to less than 2.5 and comprises copolymerized ethylenic monomers including a beta-hydroxy ester monomer, whereby the polymer is self-curing by crosslinking by transesterification through hydroxy groups and beta-ester groups.
Abstract: A thermosetting paint coating composition is based on a thermosetting polymeric binder comprising a hydroxyl functional polyester polymer and a beta-hydroxy ester acrylic copolymer, where the polymer and copolymer are adapted to crosslink by transesterification in the presence of certain transesterification catalysts.

Abstract: Thermosetting powder coatings are based on a blend of coreactive polymers comprising a glycidyl acrylic polymer adapted to be crosslinked by a solid cyclic silicone resin having functional hydroxyl and/or methylol groups for coreacting with the glycidyl functionality on the acrylic polymer.
Abstract: The invention pertains to a locking pinch clip useful for securing plastic bags or securing one article to another and the like. The pinch clip consists of integral rigid plastic comprising a base, an upright locking means, and a resiliently hinged diagonal member adapted to pinch toward the base to engage and lock with the upright locking means.

Abstract: Industrial high speed paint rollercoating processes are improved by the addition of wax particles to thermosetting rollercoatings. Wax particles having a particle size less than 50 microns and a softening point above 175.degree. F. are dispersed into the rollercoating compositions to provide highly desirable antiflashing properties during the rollercoating process.
Abstract: A method of rheologically stabilizing polyamide-epoxy coatings comprises the addition of an ethoxylated quaternary ammonium chloride compound to the polyamide-epoxy coating to impart post catalyzed sag resistance stability to the coating particularly when the coating is applied to upright or vertical surfaces.
Abstract: New Cobalt (II) nitrilomethylidyne dipyrrole complexes such as Cobalt (II) 2,2'-[trimethylenebis(nitrilomethylidyne)]-dipyrrole, Cobalt(II) 2,2'[o-phenylenebis(nitrilomethylidyne)]-dipyrrole and their basic ligand complexes are effective catalysts for molecular weight control in acrylate/methacrylate polymerization. The Cobalt (II) complex of a nitrilomethylidyne dipyrrole comprises the structure: ##STR1## where R is a diradical selected form trimethylene bis-, o-phenylenebis, or ethylenebis. The process comprises polymerizing monomers, especially including methacrylic monomer or methacrylic/acrylic monomer, in the presence of azo initiator and between 0.0001% and 0.01% of Cobalt (II) 2,2'-[trimethylenebis (nitrilomethylidyne)]-dipyrrole and/or Cobalt (II) 2,2'-[-phenylenebis (nitrilomethylidyne]-dipyrrole complexes to produce low molecular weight acrylate polymers and copolymers.

Abstract: A high solids, thermosetting coating composition for painting substrates comprises low molecular weight acrylic polymer, low molecular weight polyester polymer, and low molecular weight urethane diluent, where the acrylic and polyester and urethane components each contain hydroxyl functionality and are coreactive with an amine derivative crosslinking resin to render the coating thermosetting.
Abstract: Colloid-free vinyl acetate latexes having an average particle size between 400 .ANG. to 700 .ANG. at a concentration of 30 to 50% by weight have been prepared. The latexes comprise 60 to 100 weight parts of vinyl acetate monomer with about 40 to 0 weight parts of one or more ethylenically unsaturated comonomers such that the glass transition temperature of the polymers are between -10.degree. and 40.degree. C. The latexes are prepared by emulsion polymerization in aqueous medium, in the presence of 0.05 to 20 parts of an anionic surfactant, e.g., alpha-olefin surfactant, and 0.05 to 15 parts of an ionic comonomer, e.g., sodium 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonate (Na-AMPS). The interior wall primer-sealer derived from these fine particle size vinyl acetate latexes showed excellent enamel hold-out properties and paint stability. The latexes may also be applied aas binders in the manufacture of other paints, adhesives, papers, and as textile sizes.
Abstract: A sprayable pigmented latex paint exhibiting excellent dry fog overspray characteristics for spraying a paint film onto a substrate and hardening the paint at ambient temperatures. The PVC of the latex paint is between 60% and 80% and the volume solids of the paint is above 40%. At least 80% and typically between 85% and 100% of the dry fog overspray is easily removable by brushing or vacuuming. The latex paint is based on 20% to 40% film-forming binder, 30% to 40% non-film-forming polymeric particles, and 5% to 30% opacifying pigment on a dry solids volume basis.
Abstract: The paint coating composition comprises a cationic free, functional emulsion polymer mixture adapted to be coreacted at room temperature with glycoluril to provide a cured thermoset paint film. The process comprises copolymerizing ethylenically unsaturated monomers, including functional monomers, but excluding amine monomers, in an aqueous polymerization medium, followed by ion exchange of the resulting reactive emulsion polymer. Preferably, the glycoluril is processed through an ion exchange step separately or in conjunction with the reactive emulsion polymer. The resulting polymers are useful as binders in ambient cure surface coating application.
